So I'm waitng for an email from our fearless leader here at CrackBerry and am passing the time watching some YouTube videos. Boss by AHazDesigns

Boss is the newest theme from AHazDesigns and as you would expect, it is pretty awesome. I was really impressed with the animations on this one; though they are somewhat simple, there is a lot of function packed into them. Two sliding docks on the right hand side of your home screen are accompanied by a slide out today section on the left. The custom meters are a bit larger than most themes offer, so you can tell at a glance where your device stands in regards to battery and signal strength. An easy-to-read font and large bright icons round out the functionality of Boss making this theme one you can feel comfortable using daily.

Keep reading and check out the video on this one because the pictures just don't do it justice. And when you're done, make sure to leave your comment below to enter to win one of 25 free copies of Boss from AHazDesigns. Contest ends this Sunday at midnight PST so get your entries in!

blackout/belicious

A couple of weeks ago, I featured Belicious in the weekly Theme Roundup, and Alex from Ahaz tipped me off to another of his themes, Black Out. Both themes are clean and great-looking, chock full of custom work. If you want to read a little more on Belicious, catch my original write up here. Where Belicious is geared toward the female audience, Black Out is one for the boys, featuring a fully skinned "blacked-out" look that's easy on the eyes. I particularly love the message lists, which are fully black with a light focus. The theme includes a full set of custom white icons, which show extremely well against the dark background.Simple and straightforward, the main addition to the homescreen's function is a hideable weather slot that is controlled via hotkeys. Both are available in the CB store for $2.99 each for multiple devices including the Storm, Bold and Curve series.

Contest: We have 30 copies of these themes to give away, the winner gets their pick of which one they want! Just leave a comment on this post to enter. Contest ends this Sunday at Midnight PST. Please only leave one comment, multiple entries wont count.

ihazweather

There are a few weather apps available for those that want to add weather to their homescreen. Depending on your preferences, you can use BerryWeather, Weatherbug,or maybe WeatherEye, some of which have tons of different customization options to tweak every little thing. Personally, I'm not a fan of bloated weather apps, simply looking to have the current temp and conditions displayed. I finally have a simple solution with iHazWeather. With a tiny footprint of just 190KB, this simple app gives you just that, the weather. Current conditions are displayed on the homescreen, and launching the app provides a snapshot of the day and a 3 day forecast. A tip of the hat to the developer for displaying the temp in both Fahrenheit and Celsius, there aren't many that allow for the fact that Canadian (and other metric countries) users exist. Set your location, or allow the app to use your current GPS location, choose your refresh rate and you're set. That easy. If you're looking for an app that will give you a full forecast, or tell you how many inches of rain are currently falling on your head, you have lots of choices. If you just want a simple icon on your screen with the current conditions, check this one out. Available in the CB store for $1.99 for multiple devices, including the Torch.

Contest: 25 Copies of Evolution OS6 to be won. Leave a comment!

BePhone is another great looking theme from the guys at JMal and AHaz Designs. Its a clone iPhone theme that really runs smooth, and looks beautiful on your BlackBerry device. It features high quality icons, a today screen, and slide panels that contain a few extra pages of your apps. As with all of JMal and AHaz themes, the theme runs super fast, and is high quality all around. I realize the iPhone themes have been done before (a lot), but this quite possibly may be the best of the bunch. It is on sale until May 31st for $1.99, and compatible with any BlackBerry running OS 4.5 and higher.

BeDroid and Ultimate Lock Updated

The guys at Epic Applications and JMal/AHaz Designs have teamed up for a huge give away of their just updated software. 100 winners will get a copy of BeDroid, along with a copy of Ultimate Lock.  BeDroid brings an Android feel to your BlackBerry, with its replica icons, meters, status bar, and wallpaper. It also features a tab that holds 16 additional icons, making its homescreen one of the most fully featured to date. You can pick up BeDroid at the CrackBerry App Store for $4.99 in multiple versions, and is available for most BlackBerry devices.

Ultimate Lock is the perfect complement to the BeDroid theme (or any theme) as it replicas the Android 2.1 lock screen. The lock screen displays notifications for a variety of apps including BBM, SMS, email, multiple Twitter apps, Facebook, IM+, Beejive, and Whats App. Ultimate Lock is one of the most useful utilities out there and is on sale for $3.99 at the CrackBerry App Store. There is also a 3 day trial available.

HoneyComb

Just released is HoneyComb, by JMal and AHaz designs. They have brought us such awesome themes as BeDroid and BeNexus, and HoneyComb is also very impressive. First of all, the theme is available in green, blue, pink, and red. Having this multitude of colors ensures there is a version for everyone. As with all their themes, HoneyComb has a ton of helpful homescreen features (depending on device) including:

  • Sliding Bottom Docks
  • Pull Up Tab- Holding 12 additional icons
  • Weather Slots
  • Hidden Today Area
  • Custom Icons and Backgrounds

This theme also has some of the best, smoothest transitions I have seen, with virtually no lag at all. HoneyComb is on sale for $3.99 at the CrackBerry App Store. It is compatible with the 8900, 9000, 95xx, 96xx, and 9700 devices.
