Card2Contact

I’ll have to come out and say it, adding contacts to my address book is just a pain. First you open the app, edit contact field upon contact field, then save the contact. Only then do you realize that you didn’t enter the email address correctly. You’d think that with the technology we have this could be easier. This is where an application like Card2Contact comes in handy. Card2Contact allows you to easily take photos of business cards while you’re at an event or when you’ve just met that important business executive. Later, upload those photos into the application and have them converted into address book entries without you doing any of the legwork.

The best part yet is that humans, real living people, verify the image and because of that, Card2Contact claims their service is 100% accurate. Card2Contact is supported on all devices running OS 5-7 and while the app itself is free you’ll get 4 credits to start and then the cost is $10 for 30 credits. Let us know in the comments how you enter people into your BlackBerry, the old fashioned way, or by using technology.

ContactMonkey Screen

Last week we introduced you to ContactMonkey which is a very cool online vCard service that makes it easy for people to download your contact details to their address book - so easy even your Grandma can do it.

The folks over at ContactMonkey were over-the-moon excited with the volume of traffic their website received from our coverage. The interest from the CrackBerry Nation was so overwhelming that we actually crashed their site within an hour of the post going live.

To show their appreciation for the support from CrackBerry readers they have prepared a special offer for our community. The first 200 companies who sign-up for a business account will receive their first 100 user licenses at no charge. This will give you your own White-Labeled ContactMonkey page! There is no catch or cost. They are really offering the first 200 businesses who sign up with the link below an account with the first 100-users free for life. Head over using the link below to make sure you are one of the first 200 to take advantage of this offer.

Contacts in Address Book Contact A Z

We all know that we can start typing a person's name in our BlackBerry address book to locate a contact. What about when you have several people with the same first name, or at the very least the same first letter? You could type in their first name and then scroll to the correct contact. While that doesn't usually take too much time, there is an even quicker way. Simply type in the contacts initals separated by a space. Now you have an even smaller list to select from or perhaps the exact contact you're looking for (very few people I know have the initials AZ). That's it!

Xobni for BlackBerry has been updated to v2.0.11, the full chnage log is listed below but the biggest news here is likely the addition of a free version to the Xobni line up. Check out the change log that also indicates the free vs. pro version differences.

  • Universal Search – Universal Search integration for OS 6.x devices, Xobni results will show up in your native BlackBerry search! (Pro only)
  • Contact Sharing – Share full contact details, emails/phone numbers via email or SMS (OS 6.x). Xobni users will see a notification dialog in Xobni.
  • Export To Adress Book – Now users can export contact details from Xobni to the native BlackBerry Address Book (Pro only).
  • Search by Company/Title – Leveraging the social and Outlook contact details from Xobni, search for Company or Title (Pro only).

If you've been holding off on Xobni due to its cost well that's not longer a concern with the free version version available. Give it a go, you'll see why most of the CrackBerry staff swear by it over the default address book.
