T-Mobile hits mid-year LTE expansion goal

T-Mobile achieves its coverage goal for LTE coverage expansion
By Chuong H Nguyen on 30 Jun 2014 05:04 pm EDT

T-Mobile announced that it has achieved its mid-year coverage goal of expending its LTE footprint. Now the Un-carrier network announced that as of the end of June, it now has 230 million points-of-presence for its 4G LTE footprint, meaning its network is expanding and LTE is available in more areas. And though T-Mobile has hit its milestone for June, the carrier says that it will continue to expand its LTE footprint.

In addition to hitting the coverage goal to bring its 4G LTE coverage to more people through that pops goal, T-Mobile also recently announced at its uN-carrier 5.0 event that it has expanded 15X15 MHz network to 16 markets in the U.S. and VoLTE now is available in 15 markets to aid in congestion and help deliver bandwidth.

Is this recent achievement enough for you to give T-Mobile a shot? If so, what device are you looking at using on T-Mobile's expanding LTE footprint?

T-Mobile hits mid-year LTE expansion goal

There's still a lot of BB users on T-Mobile and for them, more LTE coverage is a good thing. Like T-Mobile or not, they're not going away and people are still going to continue to use them. Heck I use them when I go to the U.S. They're cheap and for where I go, coverage is great. :)

Not to mention, you never when a carrier will finally make a change that makes you decide to jump ship or give them a shot. I don't see myself leaving Verizon but, if T-Mobile makes the right changes, I'll gladly take a lower monthly bill. Lol

Exactly, if there's one thing I know in this world it's that people love saving money that can be better spent on more fun things. :D

I am going to use T-Mobile no matter what.. if I have to buy a phone out of contract so be it! But loving BlackBerry does not exclude the use of this network. So thanks for posting the news.

I am a BlackBerry user (and abuser :)) but T-Mobile is the best option for my business so I am not ditching them for some kind of distorted loyalty to the brand..

And Hopefully in the future the relation between those two guys will improve and all will be good again.

Very well said. Through my employer, we have family plan with 4 phones for $120. Where else would I find this. We come up for renewal this November. BlackBerry or not, we stay with Tmo.

Blackberry always.....

I agree! Been using T-Mobile for nearly 10 years. My BlackBerry works great on their network!

Posted via CB10

If contract is the only option, get an iPhone (resale value!), flog it off on eBay, and buy Z30, Passport or whatever you like....

Zzzzwiped from a Zedevice....

I think the original comment was due to t-mobile not supporting BlackBerry. I recently had an issue with my z10 and they basically told me I was SOL. That's why he and so many others don't like the fact that t-mobile is on this site. But, i understand. Because people still have them. Including myself unfortunately

I had a problem with my Z10STL100-3 and called T-Mobile and spoke to a T-Mobile Blackberry tech support guy and he fixed my problem in a few minutes. So this idea that T-Mobile is not taking care of us is not correct.

Technical support has BlackBerry specialists in house and they are really good.

Yes, with me also they are a great price and very good coverage. My Q10 is on TMO and i've been good to go.

I like my coffee BlackBerry Black! What?

There are lots of BlackBerry users on T-Mobile. One of the things that was released was the test drive option. It's pretty neat!

plus the sourced article (the news room statement t-mobile gave) full of errors!

T-mobile was not the first to do wifi-calling on a cell phone plan. First (US-Carrier) was Cincinnati Bell and it was on a blackberry. Verizon also had this feature. T-mobile may have been the first to Android...with their wifi calling app...but it didn't work for 6 months and Verizon and Sprint had working versions before it ever did work.

Other things T-mobile didn;t have HD Voice first (or Nationwide First) Verizon did. And t-mobiles HD voice isn't nearly as clear as ATT verizon and Sprint!

I agree with you RAM. I don't either. T-Mobile sux so bad. I will never go back. They have the worst network and treat BlackBerry users like garbage.

Can't stand John Legere either.

This may not be popular, but Tmo made a business decision. Get over the hatred. Would you run a store, with shelves stocked with products that did not sell?

Blackberry has done a poor job of marketing their product. Some how, their attitude has been that users and sales people must do their advertising for them. Those days are done.

As we speak, the world's attention is on Brazil for the World Cup. With all that Television coverage, some well placed ads, may have generated some interest in the new handsets.

Hopefully, BlackBerry and Tmo can kiss and make up by the time the Passport and Classic are ready for the market.

Blackberry always.....

Business decision to shit all over BlackBerry users? To try to swindle them with deals into switching to an iPhone to help their numbers? No thanks. Not to mention

They have the worst coverage pretty much on the planet. I have friends who have them ( I also had them too) and they barely get 1x in most places where I have full 4G LTE with Verizon.

They treat BlackBerry users like garbage. No it was not a business decision it was a personal decision by John Legere to act like a child and taunt BlackBerry users like cattle.

The funny thing is, they are about to be absorbed by Sprint.

Posted by Antoniius via my sexy Gold and White Q10.

Maybe their coverage isn't good where you are, but for others it is as good and as fast as any other carrier for a fraction of the cost.

I'm extremely happy with T-Mobile's service.

We you obviously don't leave the city or the small area that your in. Have you seen T-Mobiles coverage map? Scant is a good word to describe it. I'm in St. Louis, San Francisco a lot and Los Angeles and it sucks pretty much everywhere unless your downtown.

I pay about 50 dollars more on Verizon then I did with T-Mobile and only because I have an unlimited 4g hotspot that I didn't have with T-Mobile.

But it is beyond worth it when I get 4G LTE even in the middle of nowhere. I can run my laptop, desktop, 60 inch 1080p led TV, and a tablet all on my hotspot and it doesn't even blink.

Screw T-Mobile and their garbage network.

Ohh and my Hotspot? It's my sexy gold and white BlackBerry Q10 :)

I'm in Los Angeles and I have great coverage with T-Mobile . I'll save my money and use it for other things.

Even though they don't support BlackBerry as long as you can still buy an unlocked BlackBerry or passport you can still have your low rates and device of your choice.

I don't care if other people want a bb10 device I wanted one and that's all that matters.

This is a double edge sword
1) I am angry that TM has abandoned BB products from their retail sales. You have to make a special effort to obtain BB devices.
2) TM has vastly improved their US service. They honor my 'BB preferred' grandfathered pricing.

I just hope when the Passport drops either BlackBerry hashes out a new deal with T-MOBILE or BlackBerry will give us T-MOBILE users a deal for our old BB's

Posted via CB10

Good news. I'm a long time TMO user and I'm used to buying my BlackBerry outright so no loss on the recent feud. Thanks for the post.

Posted via CB10

Right!? I work for T-Mobile and I bought my Z30 from Amazon. Works better than my Q10 did. Mad LTE!

Screw t-mobile!!! No BlackBerry devices sold by them. I'll stick with Verizon better coverage then any carrier out there

Completely agree super. Verizon can be bs sometimes but the network is ridiculously good. I also got to keep my unlimited data plan.

Verizon always gets every BlackBerry device too. If it comes in white they usually get the exclusive.

Screw T-Mobile. I'll stay with Verizon.

Posted by Antoniius via my sexy Gold and White Q10.

Oh vzw didn't sell the gold and white one? The gold q10 sold by BlackBerry is for GSM only. VZW is CDMA. That why I ask? Sorry if you have a problem with my question. Have a lovely day and be happy.

As a BlackBerry user I will be looking forward to use the BlackBerry Passport when it comes out. For right now I am using the BlackBerry Z10. Which runs great on their network. T-Mobile needs to wake up and have the new BlackBerrys in stock. Heck they are running BlackBerry servers on their network they surely offer the phones to their customers.

Cory Cannon, CKM

They can't carry BlackBerry because the BlackBerry CEO threw a hissy fit and who terminated T-Mobile's ability to sell.

Z30 / STA100-5 / / T-Mobile USA

"hissy fit..." right. Totallly did not have anything to do with the fact TMO was being two faced and got caught.

If u haven't heard by now BB cancelled tmo sellin license back in april, also BB #q10 unlocked from Rim won't connect on tmo gsm,as per BB. Thanks john,u showed them, anyone like me that wanted a #q10 is screwwd, not by tmo-by BB! Boy how many little fish on tmo can't get what they want cause u cut of your nose to spite your face! Is there any guarantee an unlocked passport or classic wiil connect on tmo?

I don't know who at BB (remember, BB=!Digital River) told you that a Q10 won't work on TMO, but they're wrong.

I love seeing fair T-Mobile stories on Crackberry. I love the service and I'm a fan of their CEO. I've got nothing but BlackBerry's on their network and never had a customer service problem or been told to switch phones.

Believe me if any company is driving me away from BlackBerry it's BlackBerry they don't need any help throwing away it's customer base.

Z30 / STA100-5 / / T-Mobile USA

Only issue I have with using T-mobile is that they're super slow with updates on their branded phones. There has been two updates since May 27th and T-mobile has yet to push other either.

Posted via CB10

Face it,why should tmo update anything to a phone that the ceo of the company cut off the selling license? Hey all us BB users on tmo will still gett service, but let's face it we are just pawns in john chens grand scheme of things!

So what does selling new devices have with putting out OS updates, again? If your car dealership stops selling a model of the car, do they say, "sorry, we don't sell this car anymore, so we won't service it?"

umm...i'm in the memphis, tn area and go outside the city limits a few miles in any direction and their LTE goes to C-R-A-P. in fact, i've noticed since tmo announced their "expansion" that the service i do have in the shelby county area has actually become worse, especially in the place i live in the eastern part of the county. seems like more dead spots are now showing up. where we lived before tennessee, tmo was awesome and coverage was fantastic. now...well, a z30 on verizon might be what's next.

Tmobile needs to improve its network outside of major cities. It's embarrassing how little service I have when I leave the big city on a highways. Not even small service dirt roads but highways. Places I had service 5 years ago with AT&T.

Otherwise t-mobile is fantastic. Great prices and consumer friendly behavior as long as you ignore the BlackBerry fight.

Hoping they have the passport!

Thanks CB for posting the article. Some people aren't Tmobile haters.

White Z30STA100-5/ = heaven.

Yep, I've got my Z30 running on T-Mo's network in a major market (Houston) and life is very good. The Houston market gets both the 15x15 LTE and the new VoLte service. Better yet, 20x20 spooky-fast LTE is on the way, so it's definitely on.

Z-30/STA 100-5/ USA

Loving my t-mobile on my Z10 LTE network with unlimited music streaming at these blazing fast speeds *fist pumps*

Z-10'ing it on the T-mobile Network (USA)

I love T-Mobile and will stay with them as long as I can use my BlackBerry on their network. Don't care if they sell BlackBerry through their stores. As long as I can purchase my new BlackBerry Passport or Classic direct from BlackBerry and bring it to T-Mobile, I'm good. They still need to expand their LTE network though. I find myself in 2G every time I leave Albuquerque, NM.

Posted via CB10

I wish t-mobile and BlackBerry would sit back down at the table and figure out a way to settle their differences.

Posted via CB10

Why? What in their past relationship makes you think TMO gave a shit about BB? Right now, they're not selling BBs. If some kind of an agreement is made, we'll go back to not selling BBs AND badmouthing the company.

T-Mobile doesn't want to sell a brand that's practically dead. Why would T-Mobile take a step backwards?

Why is it that blackberry doesn't advertise at all? I personally hate all advertising and think it's a cause to a lot of the world's problems but.... it seems very stupid and almost on purpose that blackberry is going down in flames. of course I live in the U.S. So I am a moron by default :)

"Our emotions are in the water we drink"

I'm with Ram Ace. I don't care to hear/read any T-Mobile news CrackBerry. That's two of us. I left T-Mobile for Sprint and couldn't be happier. Their customer service was worse than the phone service. I asked to see a blackberry and the sales person laughed at me. He then attempted to point out how inferior the device was and tried to sell me a Samsung. I told him that those Samsung sales incentives must be great for you to dismiss or completely disregard the fact that I came here for a specific product and I said "a Samsung isn't it"l. I then asked him if he new anything about BB10 and he asked "what's that?" I walked right over to Sprint and purchased my Q-10. T-Mobile what, who cares?

Posted via CB10

T-Mobile's network has improved drastically in my area. Rural coverage is still an issue that they, and other smaller carriers need to work out. I buy my phones outright, so T-Mobile not carrying BlackBerry is no concern to me. All the carriers "Sux" in one way or another.

Posted via CB10

I just got T-Mobile. It's ok. Not the best. But I needed to save money. I miss VZW. Anyway I got no problem with this post. If you hate T-Mobile, its easy move on to the next post. BlackBerry passport is a great name because you can use the passport to go outside of the island of BlackBerryLand and see the outside world. Joking side I love my BlackBerry z30. It's going be a great Fall. All our friends will have new phones Blackberries, Iphone 6, Note 4. We will need cell services for our phones. Most of us (on crackberry) will get the blackberry (me the pastport). So we need the news posts on Cell service.

Posted via CB10

WiFi calling. Better rates. Decent coverage and only getting better. Don't blame T-mo for Blackberry's horrible, almost non-existent marketing. BB phones will continue to work on T-mo old and new. If and when they don't, I will jump back to AT&T.

Not sure about Tmobile's claim. Here in Manhattan, Kansas, data service on the network has been getting worse for sometime now, but especially in the last 2-3 weeks. Heck, I'm even writing this comment courtesy of wifi from work!
At first I thought it was maybe due to maybe some upgrade activities, but with this news from them, I'm now thinking someone's not sure what they are saying. At home, I almost don't even bother waiting for data service on my phone anymore, I just use my home wifi.
But for their better rates, i would have long dumped Tmobile.

My BlackBerry Passport when I get it. I'm currently using my Q10 and it works great.

T-Mobile USA knowingly made hundreds of millions off its customers in bogus charges, a US regulator alleged Tuesday in a complaint likely to damage the reputation of a household name in wireless communications.

In its complaint filed in federal court, the Federal Trade Commission claimed that T-Mobile billed consumers for subscriptions to premium text services such as $10-per-month horoscopes that were never authorized by the account holder. The FTC alleges that T-Mobile collected as much as 40% of the charges, even after being alerted by other customers that the subscriptions were scams.

"It's wrong for a company like T-Mobile to profit from scams against its customers when there were clear warning signs the charges it was imposing were fraudulent," said FTC Chair Edith Ramirez. "The FTC's goal is to ensure that T-Mobile repays all its customers for these crammed charges."

The practice is often referred to as "cramming": businesses stuff a customer's bill with bogus charges associated with a third party. In this case, the FTC says T-Mobile should have realized that many of these premium text services were scams because of the high rate of customer complaints. But while as many as 40% of customers demanded refunds, others didn't notice the charges.

T-Mobile USA, Inc, is a publicly traded company. According to its website, Deutsche Telekom AG maintains a 67% ownership in the company's common stock.

My Z10 - an extension of me

I just established service with T-Mobile two weeks ago, and I have really enjoyed my service with them so far. My bill is lower than what I was paying at Sprint for unlimited everything. I got tired of waiting on Sprint to offer one of the new Z-class phones, so I bought me a Z10 off of Ebay and went in and established a T-Mobile account. I plan to travel with the phone and see how it does on the road, but I am pretty sure i will be taking my number from Sprint to T-Mo very soon.

I've been a T-Mobile customer for over 20 yrs. Since it was Omnipoint, then Voicestream. I have been extremely loyal but I'm very disappointed with T-mobile for completely dispensing with retail support for all BlackBerry products and for not selling any BlackBerry in retail outlets. Disgraceful.

If it's not BlackBerry than I don't care......I really want tha BlackBerry Classic :( sad case
