BlackBerry Curve 8900 coming to T-Mo on February 11th?

Back on New Year's eve we reported via a photo of a computer screen that it looked like T-Mobile would be launching the Curve 8900 on February 18th. We also reported that dates like these have a habit of changing, which it already has.

This just in via a tipster to BerryReporter, it looks like T-Mobile may now be getting the Curve 8900 as early as February 11th! I LOVE the Curve 8900... the sooner we see this baby released EVERYWHERE the better!

coming from the storm, I'd say curve > storm any day, obviously the lack of 3g really sucks... but wi-fi is nice and truthfully a physical keyboard is necessary on a true blackberry!

Strange how they didn't mention UMA or Wi-Fi; I hope it's not a sign. I am glad to see they didn't disable GPS :)

Yes, this device does UMA. There will be another 3G version later in the year, probably close to August, which represents an evolution of the 9000/Bold, and which will also do UMA on T-Mobile USA at that point. That device will add the 1.7 GHz HSPA radio to the current 9000/Bold, as well as many of the improvements in the 8900: MicroUSB instead of MiniUSB, 3.2mp camera instead of 2.0, and 480x360 screen instead of 480x320. So in effect, that next model sort of blends the best of the 9000/Bold with the new 8900. A similar model, with the requisite CDMA/EVDO radios, will also become available for Sprint/Verizon probably a little earlier, around May.

So there are two versions of the Curve 8900? Should i even bother getting the first version then?

By: BuddyBlackberry | Date: Mon, 01/05/2009 - 19:35

Yeah!

The last time I was this happy about tmo getting something was when the pearl 8100 was released.

It's a shame when I was with T Mobile the service was such crap. I do mean crap too...

It's alright, I am having fun with the Storm for now.

on when a blackberry with 3g would be available on their service. I already switched over to at&t and picked up a bold. Im loving it too. It would be sweet if the 8900 supported 3g.

I just got one from Rogers in Canada. Had it for 2 days now and supprise on how fast the internet is. My first Blackberry and it is as fast as my home computer. Still need to get all of my e-mail syn together. Otherwise this baby work great. A bit slow on the GPS may be I still learning how to use it. But both Wi Fi or EDGE work with great speed. Will update later.

Time for an UPGRADE!!!!

By: Trader Z | Date: Tue, 01/06/2009 - 07:40

why is T-Mobile the red headed stepchild of the wireless community? Granted AT&T and Verizon have more subs (in US) and thus can get device makers to give them exclusives but T-Mo always seems to get the crappiest phones the latest.

No 3G??? Cmon. Granted its fine for a select group but its like buying a non-pentium PC because I dnt run a lot of programs. Why would you sell something guaranteed to be obsolete in a year?

I'm a former T-Mo sub so I have plenty of gripes and its a shame because their stores and customer service is actually pretty good. But they forced me to the rip-off king AT&T just so I can stay in the 21st century.

I was in the Telus store with my girlfriend the other day while she was gettin a new Samsung Slyde (I believe its called the Rant down there in the States) and yes I know its not a Berry, but trust me myself and the store mgr tried for 45 mins 2 convince my gfriend 2 get the Pink Pearl - but she didnt want the expense of a data plan n didnt think she wld use half the features on the Pearl.

Anyhow, one of the other reps started on me bout the Storm while they were getting my womans plan figured out and I finally got to mess around with one for a while. It wasnt as bad as I was expecting. It was hard to type, but I have no doubt that with a little time I wld get it worked out!

I told the rep I wasnt interested, but that I wld def be picking up a new Curve - aka Javlin when they came out. He told me they shd have them in stock by late Feb or early March! I cant friggin wait!!!!!

When we lft I went ovr to the Rogers dealer 2 have a look @ one and let me tell you it is by far hands down the sexiest fone I've EVER SEEN!!!!! The telus girl took my name down and said she'd call me when they came in or when she got an arrival date! SAAA-WEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!

Will the 8900 ever come to Verizon?

By: Anonymous (not verified) | Date: Tue, 01/06/2009 - 15:43

Can't wait to get 8900 in my hand. Also I prefer T-Mobile and have been a subscriber with them for 10 years now. Atleast they are purely GSM, unlike Verizon and AT&T. I hate CDMA phones (verizon) and AT&T has a lot of monopoly and plus their service sucks...its decreasing the bar, I know how many times my cousin has coplained not getting good signal from AT&T.

T-Mobile rocks!!!
