I have AT&T...not sure why I'd need this but maybe I'll check it out anyway.

The QR scanner with BBMessenger works well enough for me.

i'll never understand why they get anything 1st from any carrier. they're the worst

When did you leave AT&T? And what carrier did you leave AT&T for?

2004......I'm on TMO and Sprint right now

In south FL att for bb is awesome, my buddy drops calls with his tmo all the time.

Interesting... I ran from Sprint back in 2001 because their service was so spotty in NY/NJ/CT. Went to AT&T and have never had problems with them.

TMO was not an option because I travel.

It's funny really how a bad experience can stick with you. I still think Sprint sucks because of my experience with them almost 10 years ago. I can't stand Verizon because of their incompetence related to a botched (and never completed) DSL job.

So why do you need two phones? Coverage or work/personal?

I've been with AT&T for 5 years and have yet to have a single problem with them. Minimal dropped calls, great network coverage, lightning fast data speeds. Verizon is no better around here and even given that people still go to Verizon. They then complain all the time about their crappy customer service and mediocre network coverage.

I just have to wonder, I finally got the NeoReader the other day and have been playing around with it. I know this just came out today, but is this on par with the NeoReader? I'll download this and play with it from here on out, just to see what it's like, but I'm not sure I'll end up keeping it.

I've tried BeeTag in the past and been thoroughly unimpressed by its failure rate, so I was eager to try something new on the market, especially something "good enough" for AT&T to put their name behind. (AT&T does have some seriously good R&D projects...) Sadly, I found this to be no better than BeeTag.
I tried several UPC I had handy - my water bottle, my AM/PM cup, and then a QR code from code.google.com. All failed.
In comparison, the BBM scanner picked up the QR code in a flash, just waved my phone in front and *beep*.

I don't know what BBM's magic touch is, but their QR scanning is light-years beyond anything else on the BB. Just add UPC, ISBN, and Code39 and you've taken care of 90% of 1-D barcodes too.

Hardware: BB9700, the one with the auto-focussing camera.

Have you tried the latest version of ScanLife? It has gotten remarkably better with its latest version (3.1.4). You may want to try that out. Given, it doesn't have auto-focus like BBM, which is strange, but it still does work most of the time --- in my experience with it.

Is it not possible to run this on a non AT&T BB? (just to test)

Downloaded this morning...on the 2D (QR) codes it averaged 1 good one out of 7! I tried several of the 1D (UPC) codes, such as water bottles, lotion, soda can, book, etc. All failed. Takes more time than its worth.

I tried several bar codes and this reader failed to recongnize all of them. I was able to scan same codes with ScanLife with 1-2 attempts.

would be nice if att would come out with an os release before any other carrier instead of something stupid like this. But i still love you att...and my 9700.

Yeah, thing app is a POS. Tried it last week and it never worked on any QR codes, no matter how close or how far I held the 9700 away from the QR bar code. Skip it and don't waste your time.

I am not able to download this from app world. Probably because I am not using the official att software would be my guess. Oh well.

im on ATT using .743 (not official ATT OS) and i WAS able to download it. it totally sucks. the scanner built in to BBM is much better. the ATT scanner uses the camera, and not auto focus video like BBM. it also leaves the camera left open after. its a POS joke

tomorrow at&t will tell all at&t 9700 owners we will gladly let you upgrade early to the 9800 or the 9780 (your choice) like we did the iphone customers we know we screwed you and we are sorry..

I guess you can say, "this barely qualifies as news".

I tried it today and it seems to work just fine on my 9000, I promptly removed it because I look at at as usefull to some people but not to me, Ill pass on it

The best scanner app out there...I have scanlife and it NEVER works... no matter how many time nor ways I take the pic

I know ATT is the leading Blackberry provider and they also have the iPhone exclusive but since when did they become the provider that gets everything first. This is starting to make me upset. Either way I'm with TMO 9700 and will continue to use my Scanlife to get information about products but I'd like a 9800 smh. Also their coverage is not all that good in the NYC area TMO and Verizon have beat them in numerous speed tests. Which is why I wouldn't switch.
