It's free, it's Built for BlackBerry, it's Swift Notes for BlackBerry 10

We're not short of note taking apps for BlackBerry 10 but there's always room for more, especially when of a high caliber and free. Swift Notes is just that. It's simple, attractive to use and offers all the features you would want from an application like this.

Swift Notes takes on the style of post-it notes. Each time you create a new one it appears on screen as a yellow tile allowing you to give it a quick tap to dive into it for full reading or editing.

Along the base of the display are three tabs, which are shortcuts for the style of note you wish to make. The options are:

  • Text note
  • Image
  • Voice

You can of course combine all three into one note as demonstrated on the video. If for example you have started creating a note with text you can tap the overflow menu (three dots) and you'll be given the option to include an image from your gallery or record a voice message. The voice recording is all done from within the app and once completed it just slots itself into the note perfectly.

Sharing is built in and this is achieved via any accounts you have in your BlackBerry Hub, therefore giving you a wide range of options - from BBM, email, SMS, Evernote etc.

Considering that Swift Notes is free and with no catches you can't really get better. The app is available for all BlackBerry 10 smartphones so go and give it a try - and enjoy. Nice work Mr Developer.

If you do it, do it right, dude....

1st loser due to not being second as claimed...

I think it is funny. Prem is the loser.

Anyway, something is wrong.

His default avatar is upside down (haha, nice one!) and he claims to be second, while being first!

Can you please do a note taking app comparison, instead of of doing the serial thing, please, James.

It's like a parking game, another parking game, YAPG....

Feature comparisons really help, no just blogging up on after another. Hope you can do a comparison article soon.

Currently have Remember (obvious), and Noted.

My sentiments as well. I'd love to know what's the difference (pros/cons between this and Remember) I haven't watched the video yet but from James' blog I see no reason to give this a try when Remember does the same thing

Audux

Add me too, I'm a typical user of remember, haven't utilized the app yet, but it works well with my usage patterns for now, anyone who could post how it differs? What was the advantage of this app against pre-installed remember app?

Thanks!

I have no idea why the picture in the app broke and I have no idea how to fix it. Grrr. A good app though, trust me.

Lostonline

Read the description of this on BB World, that alone should have made you walk away from it.

Not write a blog post.

We have a native baked in Remember. Why would anyone want this 3rd party copy? (talk about insecure)

Sorry to be an ahole James. Calling it like I see it -this "app" is crap

CDN BB

Might be ,but I love the Yellow, don't see that color much.

Prem WatsApp

Please also include the permissions an app asks for when doing a blog post or a feature comparison.

A lot of people here on CB value this. We want to know our data is safe. Thanks!

Agree - I think knowing up front about permissions is a great idea. Thanks for bringing it up Prem !

I agree, I hate with a passion the apps that won't work unless the permission is set according to what they want. Bullcrap I'll decide what you can access on my Z10

Yes I agree. This is the 1st stand alone note taking app I've downloaded and so far so good. Easier than opening Word to Go.

djraz_official

Hmm Only 7 notes can be created in the free version? Come again! That's from developers notes on BlackBerry. Lol.

Me thinks Evernote and Remember will both work better than this app and GOCOMO works great to sync them to cloud storage. Maximum of 7 notes in Swift Note, really?

jic999

The other person requires the app to see the picture, so this feature should be a BBM features

Posted via CB10

pooo

So many note apps but I still have not seen one really good journal or diary app. That's what I'm waiting for.

Posted via CB10

nerdydaddyo

Corky Notes is better and worth the extra cost to upgrade the free version to the full version. I use it every day. It's as critical to me as Evernote.

I used my Z10 to create this CrackBerry madness!

BB_Jay

Evernote and Corky Notes for me as well...both do the job for me...

Via my awesome Zed-10

qbo

Thanks to both of you! Huge update coming soon!

FranRamos

Why download this...doesnt the native app remember do basically the same thing?

Costa84

A port with a 7 note limit.

BerryRipe

I use the built in native BlackBerry apps as much as possible. Yes remember was a little awkward to get used to but now it's easy to use.

kennyiceberry

And, and, and!!!.... Remember / Evernote integration is now working for me. It took a complete device wipe and reload of the latest software version and I think also upgrading to the latest version of BlackBerry Link. Now that Evernote and Remember are working well together as they should be, I need another note taking app even less, imo.

In spite of all the negative comments here this is an excellent application. Most likely the best in its class.

Posted via CB10

dguy123

Except there is no way to organize or search for notes.
Good for very light use only

Posted via CB10

jic999

The other party requires the app to receive the picture and note,
I use three note apps which are Noted APP for the share integration , What To Do APP for my quick to do lists , and Super Notes because I can use a security password . Remember / Evernote Religiously !

pgg101

We need more redundant apps. You can never have enough Evernote, Remember, or weather apps. :/

I'm going to second, third, Nth other commenters requests to CrackBerry to include in a review the permissions required to run an app. Also, please note if there are use limits like 7 free notes. A review should be a review, not read like a press release.

Or say FREE, when clearly it is trial before purchase.

Include permissions, and price when reviewing these things.

Sign out from BlackBerry ID (find BB ID in System Settings) , delete BBW, Restart handset, reinstall BBW; sign into BlackBerry ID; that ought to fix the issue.
