I love the size and slim profile of the BlackBerry PlayBook. Why cover it all up to add some drop protection all the time? A few months ago I was on the lookout for a thin case to use around the house or office. I didn’t need the extreme protection some cases had to offer and didn’t want to spend a lot either. I have used Case-Mate products on my BlackBerry devices for years, and they hold up very well, well enough to try their brand on my BlackBerry Playbook. Check out the video after the break for a full in depth review of one of the thinnest cases out there for your PlayBook.
The Review
The Case-Mate barely there case offers slim lines and comes in at just a little over 1mm in thickness. The hardened Polycarbonate shell adds drop protection and will help prevent scratches on the back and corners of the tablet. Installation takes only seconds so you can take it off when ever you need to, then simply snap it back on.
Bottom view of the PlayBook with case installed.
The bottom of the case delivers quick access to the HDMI and micro charging ports so you don't have to worry about removing the case when you need to plug in.
Top view of the PlayBook with case installed.
The top of the case gives way to the volume rockers and power button. The 3.5 mm headset jack and microphones are exposed. Functionality of the top buttons with the case on makes them difficult to press at times.
Back view of the case on the PlayBook.
The back of the case adds extra grip with a soft touch feel while holding the tablet in either landscape for watching movies or portrait for reading your favorite book. The camera is given sufficient protection from drops being encased as well.
Barely There PlayBook case
by Case-Mate
Reasonably priced case for PlayBook
Helps prevent scratches on back of the tablet and camera.
Simple to install
It’s plastic, so will only give protection so far.
No screen protector included
Will not work in charging dock when installed.
If you're one of those people who enjoy the sleekness of their PlayBook and don’t want to cover up the look and appeal, then the Case-Mate will suit you well. With its soft touch texture, the thin shell doesn't add any bulk, allowing the PlayBook to be tossed into your back pocket or jacket when leaving home. Along with minimal installation time, it’s simple and simple works.
I have the blackberry journal case. I honestly recomend this case. It is very well constructed and sturdy. I plan on purchasing the bluetooth keyboard and case. That looks super hot!!
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you

I did not hesitate to snap up a couple of these Barely There's from Crackberry.ca once I got my RIM BT Keyboard case. Besides replacing the excellent keyboard's bulky corner elastics with Velcro back pads, I replaced the heavy rubber RIM jacket with this thin tray that reveals the beauty of the 64GB PlayBook with the touchpad keyboard.
More important, it makes the PB easy to snap in and out if you want to use the charger stand, 'tho I use the magnetic travel Fast Charger.
I knew I would love it's minimalist protection so the second one lives on the 32GB for even more portable & casual 'naked' PB fun on the go.
Can't go wrong with the convertible case. I've tried them all and it's the best by far.
Dude in the video has the skinniest thumbs I've ever seen.
With thumbs so underdeveloped I seriously doubt blackberry is your go to phone.
My thumbs have biceps thanks to my blackberry. :)
Seriously guys, how is this news???? I mean the Incipio Feather case has been out for ages and they are identical. Last but not least this Case mate product isnt even available on the case-mate site, so why bother????? Seriously???? UghhH!!!
Well! Now, its especially lame cuz they just posted the news about the Incipio Feather sale for 15& (save 20$). Yet the before price was 19.95.... I'm just saying, that it seems like they have no clue what they're doing.
Who would really want the case mate they boldly posted about 2 posts earlier.
And it regards to it being a review, well, new reviews are news. High Horses? Ehhh... you sound like a girl now ;) I didn't say a word about no horses.

This site has become nothing but a waste of time.

What, are you a 15-year-old girl? I read your post in my head, and it had a Valley Girl accent.
Uhhhh...it's not news. It's a review. Take it down a thousand, dude. The CMBT is still available on Amazon and other sites, so it's relevant.
Lots of high horses around these here parts these days.

Personally, I don't see much point in these ultra-thin cases. I don't see that adding any protection aside from scratches where it covers.

I'm rolling with the Blurex Slim Leather case. 25 dollars from amazon.
