BlackBerry Storm2 Teardown - Get a Good Look at the Touchscreen's Heart and Soul

Forums member TBacker posted a great thread giving a cool look at the inner workings of a BlackBerry Storm2. Some repairs were needed, so he took apart the device and snapped some photos along the way. There are loads of great images to look at, and we get a good glimpse of what goes down on the inside. He evens points out all the bits and pieces inside the device so we can see where everything is. Jump into the forums and check out the full thread and all of the images. I wouldn't recommend that anyone pops their device apart just to see what makes it tick, but if you have a good reason to, why not document the process :-)

that's pretty cool. I remember first seeing the insides way back when nobody knew the release date of the s2 :D

now where is that weak ass vibrator that made get rid of the storm to and go with the droid?

that was the deal breaker for me... i loved the phone, i called verizon so many times about the issue , they called rim . and they both wanted to act like i was tripping. so i closed my eyes and said f- it , and got the droid . after three weeks with the droid . im not going back to bb.

i could not believe that they made the vibrate so weak on the phone . my hand had to be on the phone to feel it .

whats funny is i still feel the need to come to this site. love crackberry.com. but i think that i may be done with blackberry

according to the guy that tore the phone a part, there is no vibrating mechanism on the storm 2, the piezo disks do the vibrating. sounds odd but i guess technically it is possible. and btw my storm 1 has a very strong and annoying vibrate so either my vibrator is messed up and over powered or yours was messed up and under powered, go figure.

I thought it was just my device. I went to the store to get another one , and they all were like that. the srorm one vibrate was just perfect for me , I was look for the same in the storm 2. whats so sad is they perfect everything that was wrong with the storm 1.

But im happy with the Droid , And kind of glad this happened . If not, I would have never seen what a real smart phone is supposed to do .

I am a little bit worried about the signal strenght as the antenna is located in the bottom part of the phone. I have very bad experience with Nokia phones (E71, E75) that are having the same location of GSM antenna :-(
