If you're a Starbucks fan then your life just got more convenient (well, kind of). Starbucks has released their Starbucks Card Mobile app for BlackBerry. This cool app lets you convert your Starbucks card to digitalness and keep all of your info right on your device. Just enter your card number and the app can display your barcode, lets you track your balance and more. In some test areas (looks like only the Bay Area and Seattle) you can even pay for your drinks using your card number in the app - very cool. The app looks to be available for most devices and you can grab it by texting GO to 70845 or hitting the link below. Thanks to everyone that sent this in!

Very nice! I know some friends who might be interested in this!

Cool. If the scan to pay can work well and roll out, I could take one card off of my keychain.....

Ughhh only Seattle and Bay area.... I was really looking forward to walking into my local starbucks and pulling this out like a douche.
I really was!

Won't let me even download the app on the Torch. I know on the website it isn't listed as supported but I was hoping it would at least allow me to try the storm2 version.

Need an OTA or download link! Why do we need to text them? Hidden charges?

Over the air link would be great, as I don't believe I haven't received a reply in Canada vis SMS.

Thanks for the link, downloading now!

Just tried it in Canada and it only works on cards activated in the US
MusicMtl Sep 2, 2010 at 11:40 am
Wha?
Even if the scanning doesn't work in-store, it would still be useful to check card balances and re-load. Even this functionality doesn't work?
dzegers Sep 2, 2010 at 11:46 am
Ya i just wanted to check my balance and it said cannot process because card was not activated in the US
MusicMtl Sep 2, 2010 at 2:10 pm
Same here. Doesn't work... Though on the plus side, I was able to log into my account, and it shows that I have 30 stars. Will be great once we get the star system in Canada...

Just downloaded. This looks great. We'll see how it works out. So much easier than having my card on me at all times! And it seems to check my balance and rewards immediately.
We'll see how it works in the field. How great!

I'm really excited this finally made it off the iPhone/iPod. Very excited to download.

Just downloaded an app from Blackberry World yesterday called CardStar--same principle and features, but for ALL store/rewards/buyer programs...app comes loaded with tons of stores already listed, you just put in your keytag/card number--in the process of putting all mine in after upgrading my Curve 8900 to 5.0.0.822 yesterday---going to Staples today and will try it out first there--to see if it works...will update later--it even lets you back up the numbers to your storage card...

Really, it todays day and age they want YOU to put in your current location? Get real.
jetman1287 Sep 2, 2010 at 3:30 pm
Looks great, but 1.7 mb? Guess we can't fault the developer for phones with little app memory.

You can also use the scanners at 1,000 Target Starbucks. Use the 'Mobile Payment' Filter and see which ones have it.

Says my Torch is not supported. Every iBone release is, but not the Torch.
I knew S-Bux was communist!!!!!!!!!
mykey2k Sep 3, 2010 at 9:21 am
See a few comments above for the workaround link I posted. It works on the Torch.
DesertBandit Sep 2, 2010 at 4:58 pm
Not supported on Torch! :-(

I'm from New York, the home of Starbucks and I'll like to say this is a great app for starbuck's customers. But I see no sense in this app for me because I think CardStar is better.
docFU Sep 2, 2010 at 8:49 pm
Hate to burst your bubble, but Starbucks was founded in, had it's first store in, and still has it's headquarters in Seattle. BTW there are several stores in downtown Seattle where you can use the barcode scan to pay. Next time you're in town maybe you can try one out....or wait until the service hits the streets of NY.
spegs Sep 13, 2010 at 3:35 am
Why woukd you even think Starbucks is from NY? What could have given you that inclination? Oh and yes, too bad it doesn't work in Vancouver, the second home of Starbucks ;)
gordonzhao Sep 3, 2010 at 3:08 am
I tried downloading it on my Bold (9700), says my phone is not supported, though on the Starbucks site it clearly says under "supported phones:" Bold 9700....Whats the deal?
john_s Sep 3, 2010 at 6:00 pm
Hopefully this app will work in Canada soon. (I'm getting the error not activated in the US too.)
Toronto Girl Sep 4, 2010 at 10:03 pm
For all the canadians out there, at least the location search works. My 9700 has no issues with the app. I used the ota app posted above.
Also, for hall1343 if you click "near me" in the location search it finds where you are automatically and comes up with the long list of available stores.
Interestingly, my poynt app doesn't find most S.Bux as they are not listed in Yellow pages or opentable.
Hope to see CDN registered cards working on the app soon!
Cheers

Not available for Torch?? What the hell?
BoneHead Jan 20, 2011 at 7:40 pm
Well it seems that even though my Bold is supported it isn't allowing me to download. It's not recognizing my device. Reading the comments I'm guessing that it's got something against OS6.
htmanning Jan 30, 2011 at 2:43 pm
Doesn't work on the Sprint BlackBerry Bold 9650 after OS 6 upgrade. It did work on 5.0.
