04/17 is my birthday!! It would be so cool if this happened to come out on it. I guess I will be required to treat myself if that's the case :D

at least you don't have to line up to get one. good to see they're giving people plenty of time to pre-order too.

for a while there, i thought they wouldn't even bother and silently release it haha ;)

Hopefully in USA sooner. Thanks!

At least we know it's not just being sold by Staples :D

Not Q1 :(

better than never!

Look at it this way, its only a few days after "Q1" if anything they could have just been arsed and announced it 31 march for release in November :P

Being so close to this date, it should be hitting mass production soon. the software must be pretty much solid now with only a few tweaks here and there.

@zensen, that's not how things work. It "hit mass production" at least two months ago, and they've been pumping out the hardware ever since. Meanwhile, the software is *not* "pretty much solid", as they apparently won't lock it down until Mar 31. Count on doing a firmware update shortly after you open the box.

Ya, that makes sense, but from other Posts QNX can be update while running, Hard for me to believe but people say so.

This is not the release date of the actual device ... but the date RIM will be releasing another video demo of the PlayBook, exclusive to Staples!

Too late! Most consumers have jumped on the iPad 2 bandwagon and the same will happen in Canada when the release date is on the 29th which is 21 days before the PB release date. Once again, release date fail RIM.

Consumers will have raced out and bought every single iPad destined for the consumer market between now and April 16th. You are such an Apple fanboy. What are you doing hanging out here? Get a life.

I apologize if I sounded like an apple fanboy but didn't realize that. I am not an Apple fanboy and will never be, in fact I've been a blackberry customer for 2 years which proves that I'm a loyal Blackberry customer. All I was trying to say is that Apple has released their tablet before RIM's which means Apple won most of the customers who were planning to buy a tablet in this quater. You should know by now that most non-tech consumers today won't buy a Tablet because of its specs but because of its looks and features. Not trying to sound like an apple fanboy but I'm just stating my understanding of "release date wars" and its impact on the cunsumer market.

loyal for all of two years?.. my loyal bb pearl whos been serving me for more than two years has longer loyalty than you.

Like it or not what I've said is true. Not everyone who's on other platforms or regular non-tech people have the patience like we have. Do u actually think I'm still stickin around for the specs of BBs? No, its the quality of the devices, reliablity, and functionality. Yes I like the iOS but only for entertainment, not as a phone that I expect to be reliable. I currently have an iPad, and couldve upgraded to the iPhone 4 back in december but I chose the Torch over it even I knew it had build issues. Why? Because I know it will get me through the day with all my work stuff being done from that phone (email, bbm with coworkers, editing my proposals, ect.) As well as listening to music and watching videos. If you don't think that's loyal, then idk what your deal is.

i've been with blackberry about six years now. i don't know how "loyal" that makes me, but it's enough to make my wife jealous. like it or not, luqman is right. we've been getting teased with this tablet for a ridiculous amount of time, as, once again, the release date is pushed back. meanwhile, the ipad 2 goes from a rumor to an announcement to released in about 2 weeks. all the fanboy namecalling in the world will not dispute the fact that many people who were waiting on the playbook will tire of the wait and jump on the 2. any way you slice it, that's a fail for rim, lg, samsung, and any other tablet producer for q1.

Thank you sir. Atleast someone here accepts the truth.

I agree. Faithful BB holders have been waiting months, yet jobs comes out of the hospital to once again swoop up the crowd with a v2 ipad. Nice work Rim.

BTW, I've been a BB holder since day 1 and the old side scroll wheel...
