Sprint BlackBerry Tour

Sprint users can finally sleep well at night.  Twitter is buzzing with news straight from the source. It looks like the Tour will hit Sprint the same day it makes it to Verizon on July 12th. Sprint shot out the details on Twitter just a few minutes ago. Sadly the Tour page on Sprint.com has not been updated with any juicy info just yet.

The link that says "tour page on sprint.com" is broken.

Fixed it up. Thanks!

Does anyone know if Sprint will give the MIR as an instant rebate if you order online or from telesales? I think I heard of this before but never verified. Hopefully $199.99 is all we have to pay on the 12th.

It's just good to know it is available sooner than later predicted.

By: MacKevinNYC | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 12:16

I don't know which to get.

By: cvaria | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 12:33

it's really a no brainer... unless you want to jump networks. the pre is cool but it has it's limitations. no micro sd support for one

By: codemaker | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 13:03

Try them both out, pick the one you like better. Personally, I like the BB's keyboard better. I like the way the pre has a better interface multitasking and notifications better. Also the browser on the pre is better. I like the BB's ability as a communications device (email, IM, twitter, FB). I also like the solid slab form factor of the BB better than the slider. Battery life is supposed to be better on the BB.

Edit: oh yeah, pre has wifi, tour does not

Both are good devices. Choose the one that fits you best.

Disclaimer: I own an 8830 and have never used a Tour. I have used a Pre in a sprint store for about 20 mins.

but more of a fun phone. it's sweet and the interface is as fluid as water.

syncing data and transferring music is a pain in the *$$. the camera is cool. the incoming message notification is crazy hot. but it's a fun phone like the ifun. great for the average consumer base... but you're better than average, aren't you?

This is going to be legit. No more getting made fun of at conferences for having an "old" BlackBerry. Sorry 8330.

By: experiment626 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 15:53

The only Blackberry better than the 8330 is the Bold. The Curve's not that bad.LOL

By: Fashio Nista | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 12:51

Will be getting this phone

By: barracudacx | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 12:53

The Tour page on Sprint.com has had the date July 12th on the screen of the Tour since that site launched. The entire time it has been right in front of our eyes.

By: SeriesOverride | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 13:09

Haha nice spot. I didn't even notice that...

By: greatcasa | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 13:13

No it didn't, and still does not: http://delivery.sprint.com/m/p/nxt/dyn/reg.asp?promo=Tour&id12=UHP_Phone...

And if you're talking about the date on the screen, you can never take that as the release date as it's been wrong in the past. Just happens to be true in this case.

Its coming!!! All the hype....all the nay-sayers...haters....jumpers and especially the fanboyz...now we'll see who has the inventory to keep up with the demand.....and the winner is........not VZW

By: tiapia | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 14:10

By: milner40 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 14:35

By: SmoveAL | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 15:12

First the Pre.. now the Tour! Great Job sprint. So much has change for the good withing a year. Last year we waited so long for the Curve 8330 to come out. Way to step it up Sprint

Just posted on Sprint's facebook page...

Sprint Ready to stay connected on America’s most dependable 3G network and when you travel the world? Starting July 12 you can get the new Blackberry® TourTM 9630 smartphone with Sprint for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. It’s powerful and super fast. Plus it provides easy access to Facebook and other social networking sites.

I hate rebates!!!

By: Boldlover08 | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 15:58

How is it going to work.....

I'm currently on sprint but haven't extended my contract.. So I'm with them without a contract as of now. If I decide to get the Blackberry Tour on July 12th and get into a new 2Yr contract with them. How much will I pay for the tour?, Will it be cheaper considering I'm committing to them for 2 years?

Thanks in Advance.

By: bigbri_theboss | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 09:41

new contract will be 199.99 for a two year contract and from what i've read thats after a $100 rebate. so with tax a lil over $300 upfront and rebate through the mail. you might wanna check best buy cuz a lot of times they give you the rebate right there. in which case you would pay a lil ver $200w/tax. hope ths helps.

Sprint has lost so many customers because their phone sel blows and waiting so long for a phone that has all ready been out on other carries for 9months before sprint has the money to buy phones, they have too release the same day as verizon if they want to stay in the big leagues,if it wasnt for the 8330 curve sprint would be out of business, sprint should thank BLACKBERRY.

By: bigbri_theboss | Date: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 09:42

i hope sprint isn't cutting any corners to get their tour out the same day as vzw's just to keep up.

By: crackavelli | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 17:12

$300 wth a $100 MIR ? Really that sux!

By: Nwordplzplz | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 18:03

I'm so stoked about this. I wonder if I'm adding a line can I do this? Will it be available in stores on the 12th?

By: saintj | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 18:24

Now this truly good news!!!

By: jasonezzell | Date: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 18:34

...if you refresh it a few times. The center advertising board changes through a few different handsets and promotions. But if you are patient, you'll see the Tour along with the July 12th date and a link to the "notify me" page, which sadly has no additional info at this time.

I just switched over the Sprint 8330 from an Unlocked Bold because I was out of my "home area" too much for T-mobile. I really miss the keyboard and OS of the Bold, not to mention no lagging. I'll jump through the hoops and pay the restock $. Probably have to go through a few firmware upgrades to correct the bugs like I did with the Bold too. Expecting that...
