The original game of Sparkle was released back in 2007 and saw huge success on other platforms. Sparkle 2 was rolled out for iOS recently and now the developers have gone all the way and released it for Symbian, Windows 8, webOS and BlackBerry 10 - and what a beauty it is.

We've seen our fair share of bubble/orb popping games on BlackBerry 10 but this one really stands out from the crowd. The graphics and colors are mind blowing, the music and sound effects are A+ and the game play is as smooth as the smoothest thing in the world!

Once the game launches for the first time you are taken through a kind of video story and where I normally try to skip these I was sucked in for some reason. Then it's onto the game itself. You control the 'orb gun' and as the colored orbs come racing around the track you must fire the corresponding color at them. Get three or more in a row and they explode. The idea is to not let them get to the end of the track or you will fail the level. The good thing about the orb gun is you can see what colored orb is due next so if you get two in a row the same color you can fire them off in quick succession which really helps .

Once a level is completed you are taken to a map where you will see your progress around a jungle. From here you can also view your achievements and as there are bonuses to collect along the way you can switch between them. For example - there is a speed up one and also a tranquil one which takes longer to complete the level but things are a bit more chilled out.

Available for the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 everyone can enjoy the fun. The game is priced at $4.99/£3.50 which is in the upper end of the scale but if you like this style of game this is the ultimate one to get.

Features of Sparkle 2 include:

  • Experience unrestricted premium action puzzle gaming
  • Admire state of the art special effects
  • Explore three game modes: Story, Survival, and Challenge
  • Discover over 90 unique levels throughout the story
  • Supercharge your Slinger with over 200 combinations of 16 different Enchantments
  • Find exciting locations and delve into the mystery
  • Immerse yourself in a story narrated with professional voice overs
  • Enjoy the soundtrack by the award-winning composer Jonathan Geer

Wonder why the games are displayed on the Q10 instead of the awesome Z10.

It's just more of a given that it will run on Z10, while not so for all games with Q10. It's worth highlighting it.

This is how you CB10, son!

Saw that this morning in BB World. Price was a bit shocking at $5, but their game Azkend 2 is $6 so it's that surprising really I guess.
At least you know there will be quality there, based on their other games.

The more offensive price is the original Sparkle still at $3. Would love to see a sale from this dev.

My wife just beat Sparkle 1 on her Z10. I imagine she is going to be downloading this one asap!

Wasn't this originally called Zuma? I remember playing Zuma on my Moto V300 back in 2004-2005

What, no android?

You're asking for an android version on the blackberry forums? That'll get you far.

Just noticed that lol how does it get released for Symbian AND WebOS but not Android??? lol

T-Pad

Where is the PlayBook version? They have even released it for webOS, but not for the PlayBook!

Antikythera Mechanism

Why is this double the cost of the apple variant?

This isn't the only game like this. Plants vs. Zombies is $2.99 for BlackBerry but $0.99 for iOS.

T-Pad

Rumor says that BlackBerry users are used to pay higher prices. Even the webOS version (of Sparkle 2) is only $2.99.

On flipside, all the Gameloft games are currently cheapest on BBRY.

There's no standard rule here.

El Platanero

Finally sold me on a game James.

This is Zuma on steroids!!! I still play on my ipod classic, great time killer for sure. Only problem is the cost. Hope it goes on sale, looks like a real winner.

I bought Sparkle 1 for my Playbook over a year ago. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to repurchase when I got my Z10. Most developers have been forcing you to repurchase. I won't have any issue playing the $5 for Sparkle 2.

Saw someone playing this online. Looks better on the Z

Sparkle 1 was really awesome. Just to bad it is so expensive. Anyway I will definitely buy this one.

I bought Gameloft games for my z10 but it's asking to repurchase when I try on my Playbook. Can we claim it from BB or Gameloft? how?

KidCaboose

Woooooh! Sparkle 1 is still my favourite game on the PlayBook! Just an incredibly well made game! Every 10Tons title I've played is top quality for sound, look and gameplay! Can't wait to get this one!!

So happy to see a good, classic phone-game. Really enjoyable and addicting. I am disappointed in the price, however, though, I assume maps had to be altered for the Q10 screen size. And while it's mostly smooth, every round begins with a hiccup that causes me to mis-shoot my first bubble...every round. The hiccup will usually occur a couple times per round, when things get more hectic. Great to have a good game on BB10, though.
