BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 brought the addition of the ability to install Android app files directly without any conversion and in an effort to find a better way to install Android apps Snap was created. Snap is a native BlackBerry 10 app that taps into an API created for the sole purpose of searching and downloading APK files directly from the Google Play Store, ensuring the files you download have not been tampered with as they come directly from Google.

Early builds of Snap were designed to look similar to BlackBerry World itself but new version, such as Snap v3, have taken on a look the more mimics the Google Play Store and it's Material Design UI elements. In order to install Snap, one has to 'sideload' the app onto their device which isn't ideal but it does allow for the app to remain a native BlackBerry 10 app.
