Great idea, but a lot of the time it doesn't seem to want to track my BB. It'll do it for a while and then it stops all by itself. Web page just shows a map of California.

I have the same issue. I'm in Canada, not Cali.

Oh, and my BB button doesn't work, nor does "trackball -> full menu" while using BBM 5.0. Only started after the reboot from installing the new version.

Just finished another battery pull and now it works, YAY!

Regarding Tracking issues, there are certain factors that can affect SmrtGuard's Tracking functions, these would be loss of Radio, WIFI or GPS signal or settings on your Blackberry needs to be reconfigured. we would love to delve deeper into your concern, if in need of phone assistance you can contact our Technical support Department at 732-579-3649 or email us at support@smrtguard.com

I will be contacting your tech support department by the end of today about it. I always have at least GPRS or EDGE signal, however the web API just can't seem to find me.

Am in WA not Cali but the only map that is showing today is of Palo Alto. Have tried a battery pull. Hitting the command buttons on the web page say "action successful" but get no email notification and nothing works. Tried reactivating but so far no reactivation email either. Servers overloaded due to the update today maybe?? All permissions are set to allow. It usually will work for a while, but today nothing wants to work. Will get in touch with support if it doesn't resolve itself.

Had SmrtGuard since Beta. Love it. The location is a hit or miss when it comes to cell tower location but GPS (if you got one built into your BB) it is good.

To me, location is secondary to the data backup and restore :)

Just got v1.98, love the re-activation process :)

I use to have problems with GPS but not anymore. If you are using it for the first time, it will take a few times for it to it to connect right. I was using Sprint at first and now using Verizon and still no problems. I love Smrtguard! All the upgrades are great too.

52bear,

Yes, there is a problem with BIS as many know. We have put up a notice for now.

http://www.smrtguard.com/support_kb/support_kb_20.jsp

Once BIS is up again, SmrtGuard location/remote functions will start working.

Thanks for leaving your comments.
