BlackBerry Messenger is a great way to keep up with your friends, and with the new BBM Social Platform and integration with different apps you can easily meet new people that share similar interests. Tafasa has created an app for exactly this purpose. Smoothie has two different aspects, so whether you're looking for a group of people already talking, or some one-on-one time with someone new, you're sure to find it here.

The first section is Blender, in which you can start a conversation with a random person based on criteria you pre-select. You specify age, gender, location, and interests. If the person you're connected to isn't what you were looking for, Smoothie will connect you to someone else. The second part is called Coffee Shop. Here you will find group conversations on any number of topics and you can join in at the click of a button. Not finding a topic you're in to? No problem, start a conversation of your own for others to join!

Other features include:

  • Built on the new BBM6 platform, giving you all the power and fun BBM has to offer
  • Custom profiles with a picture, interests and a display name
  • Integrates with the BlackBerry notification system so you never miss a message while in a conversation
  • Add people you meet to BBM from within the application
  • Meet people interested in the same things as you
  • Fun and easy to use
Smoothie is free and compatible with BlackBerry smartphones on OS 5 and greater, and you must be running BBM6 to use it. Most countries are supported as well. Check out Smoothie today, and let us know what you think in the comments below!

how come all new apps are only available via appworld...
what about people living in countries where they dont have appworld yet...
is this an active effort to make us switch???

I'v used it before and it's linked to your BBM.. It would be kinda weird to just go on there and start acting like a d bag trying to get girls.. I'v gone in a chat room and there are some guys that try to do that, but the girls just ignore them :P It's mainly just fun for a time waster! needs more people though for sure.

I suspect that bars and night clubs might create groups or tags for people to follow. Much like some bars allow you to txt comments that appear on a screen for everyone to see. Correct me if I'm wrong (haven't used this yet), but it's location based, yes?

To clarify, I'm sure people will find ways to make this social software, in a social setting, allow them to be more social. :)

A Singles Hotline for a new generation of BB users. ;)

Im having problems with the app, after installed and connected to BBM it says on the main screen that there was an error with the app. I'm going to install it again and maybe it get fixed

I just downloaded it and don't have any issues with it so far. It's working fine on my 8530.

I would not be using it to do 'random hookups'. I don't do that kind of thing. My main purpose in using this app would be just to meet some interesting people and to make a few new friends along the way...

app installed fine and i made my profile. trying to do a search...only criteria i put in was find female, any country...keeps spinning and saying "finding someone for you" (but its not...)

It could be that there are not a lot of users yet, given that it seems like it's a relatively new program...Just a thought :)

I have a blackberry torch 9800,and whenever i search for this app on app world,it comes up with no results found, and when i scanned the QR code, comes up with this app is not available for download on my device or carrier.(BTW,i get that error message quite often).
any advice?
