I first looked at this app back in June. Back then it was known as Web Shortcut Creator. It allowed you to create icons to use for any websites your save to your BlackBerry homescreen. It was certainly very useful as not every website has a nice little icon to go with your saved shortcut. So, these saved websites wouldn't blend in nicely with other app icons on your homescreen. With this app you could create a nice little icon to go with the web shortcut.

Since then the app has come a long way. It has now become Shortcut Creator as it doesn't just cater to web shortcuts anymore. You can now create a shortcut for a whole number of things. Like Contacts, BBM Contacts, files, folders, music playlists and albums. Even shortcuts to settings. And if you wanted to, you can create a shortcut to an account in the Hub so you can jump straight to it.

It's clear the developer has been working hard to make this stand out from other apps with similar features.

Shortcut Creator features

  • Create unlimited number of BBM Chat, BBM Audio Chat, BBM Video Chat as shortcut on the HomeScreen
  • Create unlimited number of SMS and Email of any contact on the HomeScreen
  • Create unlimited number of contact from the Contacts application on the HomeScreen
  • Add Hub email accounts, Text Message, BBM and social accounts on the HomeScreen
  • Create unlimited number of Web Browser short cuts on the Home Screen
  • Create unlimited number of Phone Speed Dial short cuts on the Home Screen
  • Create unlimited number of Folder short cuts on the Home Screen
  • Create unlimited number of File type short cuts on the Home Screen
  • Select from the predefined Web browser sites
  • Select and create System Setting short cuts such as Mobile Network, Notification, Security, Sounds, Network Connections and more. No need to dig through the Settings screen anymore. Just one touch to open the correct Settings
  • Use your own custom picture for the Icon
  • Easy to use and there is no setup
  • Compatible with all version of the BlackBerry 10 OS
  • Includes OS10.2 Device Monitor setting short cuts. One step monitoring

It's definitely one to take a look at again. Or even try it out if you haven't already. Shortcut Creator is available for $2.99 and is available for all BlackBerry 10 devices.

I've found this App really useful, I'd hate if I had to go back to the screen shot icons for Web shortcuts.

But yeah the update isn't available yet.

I am a blackberry fan, but I don't understand why blackberry is so behind with apps, when it comes to iPhone, Android app store. I am hoping blackberry will do something magic in few month. So we buy there more devices.

Remember you can create shortcuts for SMS and Email with v4. Easy and simple.

Shortcut Creator is also Built For BlackBerry approved.

No. You can't really backup shortcuts but I can try to add this feature in the next release.

Backing up shortcuts is only useful if you wipe your OS but upgrading the OS the shortcuts should still be there.

Thanks, I'll definitely appreciate this feature as I usually upgrade the OS as a clean install as AT&T is not a company of OS updates. Also for leaks is usually better to do a clean install versus an upgrade.

Ι made a phone speed dial short cut and when I press the short cut, Skype opens instead of making a call.

Is Skype the default phone app? Are you running OS10.2? If so goto the App Manager Settings app and in the Default Apps select Skype. Is it default to handle phone call?

Yes I'm running leaked 10.1.2. 0155 but I don't want skype for default.
How can I make phone default?
Thanks

Bought it but after 2 shortcuts it won't let me create new shortcuts... when trying to make a new shortcut the app just ends.

Not worth the money in this way.

I've created 2 phone shortcuts (dialing) and if I want to create a 3rd one the app crashes.

I don't see where it let's you put play lists on your home screen. I tried to select the "file" option and downloaded the artists photo for the icon but it won't open it when I select it.

Select the settings tab from the toolbar and then scroll down to the bottom of the list. You will see the audio and video shortcuts.

Thanks, I didn't look in the settings section. Although the crackberry post is still misleading, since it doesn't let you pin a specific Playlist to your home screen. And the Playlist shortcut doesn't even open up to the play lists, it just opens the music app like the music icon does. Very disappointing

Please I'm asking again
I don't want skype for default phone app ,but there isn't any option in settings to disable it,
The short cut phone number only opens by skype.
When I delete skype then I can make the short cut work, when I install it again skype gets default again.
Please developer if you can help.
Thanks

Since Skype is making itself the default app as the dialer I will have to ask BlackBerry support and see if there is a workaround. Also could be the leaked Os problem too.

Ok thank you Dev :)
I hope it's not the leaked os problem and wish it get fixed on the next update

I have confirmation that this is the problem with the leaked Os. Other developers are having the same problem with Skype. There is no immediate fix.

Decent app. Wish that the contact text shortcuts showed the persons name and not the #. Maybe in an update. And it would be good if you could edit the web addresses for the browser icons that come standard with this app. But overall a very useful tool

Οκ Smiley. (Dev)
I will delete for now skype cause I don't use it a lot and just wait for the official os to come out.
Thanks :)

Application crashes every time I try to create a Phone Speed Dial shortcut when using the "Lookup" feature.

Using 10.1.0.2039 OS

When trying to create a folder shortcut, it will only let you select a file and not the folder .

Seriously, this Z10 is a Contender!! Keep it up BB

Hello Smiley 88, do you have any help on the creating folder shortcut? This would really be great

Seriously, this Z10 is a Contender!! Keep it up BB

I have a folder with 40 sub folders and hundreds of files. Creating shortcuts to each is not helpful at all, but to the main one would be great.
