Addictive gaming with The Secret of Space Octopuses for BlackBerry 10

If you enjoy side scrolling games you'll love The Secret of Space Octopuses for BlackBerry 10. It isn't just all about running and jumping with this one - you need to use your brain as you'll come up against plenty of challenges. 

Let's take a look at the controls first - over on the left of the display you have three arrows. These move your character forwards, back and allow him to jump. Over on the right are a further four tabs - each a different color. These include a big jump one (which is easier to use than on the left of the display), a strike tab (hold for more power), a shield and an 'absorb' one that will allow your character to utilize various materials and make them into boxes which you'll need in certain sections of the game. This absorb one actually confused me quite a bit - as you'll see in the video - but since I have continued to play the game I've got the hang of it. 

So, the object is to get your man to the end of each level. In order to do this you'll need to break through barriers, dodge and destroy enemies and jump from ledge to ledge. That's the easy part. At some points in the game you'll find yourself stuck, with nowhere to go, and this is where you must use your absorb powers. For example - you may find yourself unable to jump or climb up a cliff. You can use the boxes you have collected to assist you and give you a boost. It takes some getting used to but once you mastered things it's a ton of fun. 

The graphics and colors used are stunning and this is one of those games that will probably suck you in and have you playing for hours upon end. Only available for the BlackBerry Z30 and Z10 the game will set you back £2.00/$2.99 but you get what you pay for.
