Shoppers in the UK will be loving this one - Sainsbury's now have a native BlackBerry 10 application. As one of the top supermarkets in the country, consumers can now not only keep a track of how many Nectar points they have built up, but there are plenty of deals and extra features built in.

The Sainsbury's app is available for all BlackBerry 10 devices and is free to download. Once installed you just enter your Nectar card number, name and post code and you'll be up and running. As you will see from the list of features below there's some good stuff on offer. I particularly like the way they have incorporated meal plans and recipes into the app - meaning you can plan your food all from the palm of your hand.

Let's hope the other big supermarket/grocery chains follow suit and get some BlackBerry 10 action going on.

Full features of the Sainsbury's app include:

  • Your Nectar points balance and Nectar information, 24/7.
  • Exclusive Nectar bonus point offers, specially selected for you.
  • Deals picked for you: Check out your personalised top deals available instore and online. Your top 15 offers are based on your shopping history at Sainsbury's and deals we think you might like.
  • Hundreds of regularly updated top deals available throughout our stores.
  • Shop online when you're on the go, for groceries and a range of other products, from furniture for your home or garden, to toys and electricals.
  • A handy store locator: find your nearest Sainsbury's store and information about its opening hours and facilities.
  • Meal plans and recipe ideas to help make feeding your family even easier.
  • Tell Sainsbury's: Feed back about your experience with Sainsbury's

What a great idea. I'd like to see Tesco, Waitrose and M&S to follow suit. Perhaps even Asda and Morrisons?

It just opens the browser when you want to actually do some shopping. More of a web launcher than an app (Like most apps in Blackberry World). FAIL.

Er..no. You are wrong. FAIL.

Actually WarriorCelt is right (if perhaps a little rude). The app launches the browser when you want to do some actual shopping.

I stand corrected. But to be fair the android app is exactly the same.

This is a great idea. Glad it's Native too, hope other supermarkets follow.

It's only the Nectar part that's Native, the online shopping part is a wrapper for the mobile site.

All good but it looks like it's all the same as Nectar app but branded as Sainsbury...

Agreed, only obvious enhancements are the store locator and the recipes (which I nearly didn't notice). Still worthwhile having if you're a customer - and to encourage support & development.

It's good, and about time as without a doubt they are the best of the supermarkets

Wish Safeway had this.

It would be brilliant if NFC would be incorporated into the Nectar function of this Sainsburys native BB10 App!

Anonymous2039

What would NFC be used for?

Q10 and Canadian all the way!

Good sign of support though. Hopefully it spurs competitors on! More apps is always healthy

Downloaded to my Q10 and Z10 to show support (and thanks) to Sainsburys for producing this app for BB10 (I'll still leave the Supermarket shopping to my wife though - I'm of an age whereby I'm just about allowed to continue to thinking like that).

Smart, download to show support, hopefully we will all do this to show download numbers. Come on Team
