Runtastic Pro lands on BlackBerry 10

By Adam Zeis on 25 Jun 2013 12:46 pm EDT

Runners rejoice! The good folks at Runtastic have ported their popular fitness app to BlackBerry 10. Runtastic PRO is a GPS mapping and tracking tool that allows you to keep track of your runs, jogs or walks in one easy place.

The app tracks your stats including time, distance, speed, calories and more. Runtastic PRO packs a load of features into a small package that any fitness nut will be happy to have.

Features include:

  • Map your workouts in real-time with built-in GPS and monitor your exercise progress
  • Personal training diary and metrics
  • Mapping: Detailed live mapping and historic mapping of previous sessions
  • Dashboard configuration: Display preferred training statistics
  • Graphs: Get charts with altitude, pace, speed and heart rate information from your jog/run
  • Integrate your Runtastic activities to your MyFitnessPal account
  • Manual entry of workouts: Add treadmill, spinning, and weight lifting workouts
  • Monthly and overall metrics for distance, number of workouts, duration and calories burned¬†

Runatastic PRO is available now in BlackBerry World for the Q10, Q5 and Z10 for $4.99

Does anyone knows a radio files that can be used with OS version to improve battery life on STL100-1?? Please let me know

Native or ported?

Posted via CB10

First line "ported".

Posted via CB10

$5 for a ported app?

Posted using The Z10

Ported and than ask 4,99 it's a shame

Posted via CB10

I agree. I would have paid $5 if it was native, but that's too much for an Android Port

Just use endomondo. Also ported but free

Posted via CB10

Amen to that. This is what I use

Endomondo lied to us by not going native. Fitness Tracker with Strava works fine for me.

Posted via CB10

That's why I more and more don't like the Android runtime, developers will go the easy way and port things over and will never make a native app

Posted via CB10

Exactly. If we continue this path I will go back to the flip phone. I will never use android/ios.

Posted via CB10

Yah, but in the end would we have got this app if we couldn't use the ported version, I don't think so. There probably charging $5 to pay for the development of the native app.

Posted via CB10

I've had CascaRun for a while now and it's a native app for BlackBerry 10 and works perfectly. Way better than other lazy ported apps like this. No fails or locks. Soon it's coming with many updates with 10.2.

Support the no port.

Posted via CB10 / Z10

Support the no port.

Looks great. Hopefully bluetooth heart rate support is coming soon. Dowbloaded for now. Support the cascades

There are no BT APIs for Android in 10.0, 10.1 or 10.2 thus far. Even when Android ICS is finally live in 10.2 BT support will be coming at a later time. Endomondo does more than Runtastic as an Android Port and is free. Sportstracker and CascaRun are Native Cascades and hopefully will put the code in for HRM support shortly.

Mio alpha is cool

Posted via CB10

It is now supported by CascaRun if you have the Bluetooth 4.0 Smart (LE) version.

Sports tracker blows this 4.99 app out of the water...and it's free...and native.

Sport tracker failed me. I ride in the mountains and it kept dropping the Gps signal. And would do it again when going under bridges in the city.

Fine app but you get what you pay for.

Posted via CB10 / Z10

I've had no problems with the gps signal with it. I run along wooded trails with a lot of canopy. I guess I've been lucky.

Works great for me, had to uninstall and reinstall and then it stopped dropping my gps signal

I had some GPS drops initially and some crash problems but after upgrading to 10.1 and latest Sports Tracker versión it has been flawless for me, love it!

Posted via CB10

Sports tracker doesn't work, the gps is bonkers even after several updates!

Posted via CB10

$5 for an Android app? Give me a break!
Sports Tracker is native, free, syncs with their website, displays all the data for current and previous workouts, and so on.

I could pay 5‚ā¨s if it was native, but it's definitely too much for a port.
I don't hate ports, I hate them when they have this high price.

Posted via CB10

$5 for a port? Yeah, ok. Good luck with that. Native Or Nothing.

Posted Securely Via Q10

? How do you tell if it is ported?

Posted via CB10

As long as there is no native App they will not get my money!!!

Shame on Runtastic. Now when noone buys their ported app they will stop supporting blackberry. For a native app, I might have considered paying a small fee, but $4.99 for a ported app is crazy. Especially when there are perfectly good alternatives (even if ported) available for free.

Gonna have to use CascaRun

Posted via CB10

Thanks but no thanks. Charging for a port is ridiculous, and charging $5 is outrageous.

I used to use Runtastic on my 9700, but have been using Endomondo lately on my Z10. I think I will stick with Endomondo, because it syncs my workouts instantly with myfitnesspal (which works when sideloaded using the new debug method).

I dont quite understand the debug method, havent not had any success with you have a .bar for my fitnesspal

I have this on my old bold 9700 and my wife's GS2. Do I have to pay for it again? Just wish someone would port over Strava. Didn't see it In my world...

Posted via CB10

Not paying 5 bucks.

ChannelX C000D3759 We review channels

I bought it and seems to work well but it was a short run! No issues with GPS drops but will report back on a longer run.

Posted via CB10

For $5. No - allot better apps for free. And Android port means no BT support.

5 dollars for ports? Who are these people kidding? Haha.

Sports tracker is better than both endomondo and runtastic.

Posted via CB10

No it's not... gps

Posted via CB10

4.99 wth never will I pay that

Posted via CB10

Just use sports tracker. Free and accurate

Posted on my Q10.......while on the can

I bought it. Used Runtastic on my Windows Phone and liked the program. Many of my workouts are on a treadmill or strength training, Runtastic is the only one I know of that allows manual entries.

Another port from Android?... Not interested at all!!

No tickee no laundry.

No native code. No money

The main problem with this app is that it doesn't seem to recognize headphones... when music is playing through headphones, it still talks to you through the speakerphone, which not only makes what it says inaudible, but causes the music from the headphones to cut in and out. Tried on both a Z10 and Q10, both have the same issue. Until this is fixed I'd say don't buy this...
