Jennifer Chappell on the BlackBerry Bold!

[ This is an official Smartphone Round Robin post! Every day you reply to an official Round Robin blog post or forum thread on CrackBerry.com, you automatically gain an entry ballot for a chance to win a BlackBerry Bold, Spare Bold Battery, and Case Mate Second Skin! ]

My BlackBerry Bold is now in the hands of our Treo-loving gal Jennifer Chappell over at TreoCentral.com. You can click the image above to check out Jennifer's hands-on initial impressions video. In last year's Round Robin Jennifer was a fan of the Curve - she liked the form factor and gained respect for the BBOS/speedy trackball experienced. How does she like the Bold? You'll have to watch the video to find out! But I will say here that after being used to smartphones that have both a touchscreen and keyboard, she did spend the first day smudging up my Bold's display thinking she could tap the icons! :-)

Keep in mind, posting your daily Round Robin comment at CrackBerry.com gives you a chance to win a BlackBerry Bold + Accesories. But if you login to TreoCentral.com and post a comment, you'll have a chance to win a Palm Treo Pro + Case-Mate Clear Armor and the original Jawbone Bluetooth Headset.

And if by chance you still don't know what all this Smartphone Round Robin stuff is all about, do yourself a favor and click this link!

I Love the Bold, but I have had the worst experiences with AT&T. I will be sticking to T-mobile from now on. And with the Javelin coming soon, I will be very happy

cant wait to see this

By: linde | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 11:53

I love the Bold!!I think this will be my next bb

By: sjbarag | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:02

in the AT&T store near me. it was my first experience with one and I have to say its very nice. I like the feel of the keys alot, and while the actual OS was locked down [AT&T password protected it], the trackball had a very nice, crisp action. My only complaint is the combination of the logo button and the back button into one rocker key. While it does make sense from a design and use standpoint [most people don't press them rapidly in an alternating pattern], I just don't care for it.
Glad to see someone else like it during their first experience.

but I really like her review of the bold and seeing that beautiful thing in action really makes me want one! It seems everyone has at least a few loving comments about the bold.

By: sdlphotography07 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:07

I can tell that she really liked the look of the Bold, like she was holding a piece of technological wonder in her hands. Interesting review...I can't wait to see the others.

By: garymait | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:33

Well, I think I may wait for the Storm with my provider. But thanks for the review.

By: biclocal | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:36

I want the bold so badly, what a great phone...in the hands of the proper user ;)

By: biclocal | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:37

Has anyone seen at around 7:58-8:00 of the video...fast forward to it as it is the best/funniest part :)

By: LilMissBBAddict | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:38

Blackberry's are THE best!!!!

By: cexshun | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:42

I'm sorry, I did not like this review. Reviewer sounds like one of those nice people who refuse to dog anything when reviewing it. She made no conclusions either way at the end.

While I'm sure she's a nice lady, she doesn't come across in this review as a smartphone expert. She comes across as a "phone of the day" consumer. No review of using the calendar, getting things done, or even the browser. Just "Look how pretty it is. I love the keyboard. The End"

By: betavirus | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:52

Treo = 3
3 strikes your a Bold.

By: dagda1 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:54

Got to test it out at the store. I can't wait to upgrade.

By: Hoolian | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 13:02

I would love to have one of these.

By: lemk24 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:56

interesting

By: mystics7 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 13:07

as a former treo user (going back a few years) the second i got my hands on BB i was hooked, I think this will be another BB user hooked after a few days with the Bold

By: PanaSama | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 13:12

Hey Kev did you noticed the way she was pressing on your screen i thought she was gonna break it! lol

Anyways i remember back then when the suppoused leaked images of the bold appeared on this site,, and how almost everyone hated the form factor, calling it ugly and unberry-like, and now one of its strong points is how good it looks, i think RIM really made an effort making the bold his flagship device everything about it screams quallity, im sticking with my curve for now but im seriously thinking upgrading for the bold.

By: niubeav | Date: Sun, 11/30/2008 - 00:15

I know...Your poor bold Kevin!!!!

By: o_ssie | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 13:31

HOTTTt

By: Kevin Aguimatang (not verified) | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 13:35

Just got my curve 3 weeks ago and think it is great. Only complaint is that the battery level drains quicker than most phones I had.

By: naszero | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 13:30

Jennifer tapping on the Bold's screen with her nail gives me chills. Make it stop!

By: bg0508 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:07

BOLD!!!!!!!!!

By: bg0508 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:07

BOLD!!!!!!!!!

By: bB03 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:01

If she liked the Curve last year the Bold should be enough to convert her this year.

By: GotThaTech3188 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:08

sorry, with respect to the reviewer, that was one of the most boring initial reviews I have seen, she seemed like a complete novice...

By: STYLN | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:22

Good review and all but Ill still take me a new Bold ovr the palm any day! Wink, wink, nudge.. nudge... lol

By: st6868 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:22

I'm still waiting for my Storm to arrive (FedEX says Monday), but it is still pretty clear to me that Blackberry is the way to go.

By: Kuga | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:16

Bold for the win! I wonder if there will be a consensus of which is better for each user type at the end of this.

By: duganblk50 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:30

After having a couple Treo's (most recently 650) I'll stick
w/my BB

By: ecooper11 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:39

Please pick me to win the bold!

By: Nujra | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:44

She's one of the many to mention the lack of a Today home screen. I believe once Today themes for the Bold come out, it's sales will increase.

By: Sherb | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:52

I stopped watching when she kept smacking the screen.

By: Izzy2k2 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:46

The bloopers were hilarious haha!

By: sprtjnkie | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:57

I heard the bold is buggy though. I like the idea but I do better with a "real" keyboard. As long as it's a berry, you can't go wrong though.

By: laurenmac | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 14:51

I want my bold already!

By: kristopherpdavis | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:02

Her hands are pretty. Where in the heck is she from?

By: kristopherpdavis | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:04

yay

By: ElDudeorino | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:16

Bold is way better.

By: Queen4111 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:22

My friend has a Treo, she said it was better than BB.

By: Aspyred | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:33

Comparing this Video Firstlook with Dieter and Kevin's, there was a distinct lack of critical analysis. I understand this is only a first look and not a final review, but I would have appreciated a more in-depth look at the Bold's features (ie. Calendar, E-mail, Browser).

And wow, I got the heebie-jeebies when she started poking at the screen. That's... just not right.

By: thecyclinghen | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:43

I love the southern accent!

By: HuskyHawk | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:39

I'm more curious to see her final impressions. If the Bold can't sway her, no BB will. From what I've seen so far, the Bold is definitely the best phone for me.

By: scboatman | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:42

I think the Bold is the best Smartphoneon the market, hands down.

By: Bla1ze | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:43

"What, what the crap! Oh yeah this is a... Non touchscreen device."

Nice Jenn!! So, Ummm...when are ya getting your new BlackBerry? :-)

By: aragon7 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:51

Blackberry Bold= Best phone to ever be sold to the regular consumer

By: DawnGP143 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 15:56

OUCH for the poor Bold when she stated poking at the screen. Where's she from anyway?? That accent she has seems vaguely southern, but not really.

By: Dannyg227 | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 16:10

she pecked away at the screen like she wanted to break it...lol wtf

By: creimusc | Date: Fri, 11/28/2008 - 16:03

eh im waiting for the version that has both touchscreen and keyboard
