Rogers BlackBerry Torch

If you're Canadian and awaiting the Rogers release of the BlackBerry Torch 9800 this should come as some good news for you all. Rogers dummy units have started to arrive at Rogers locations which, has always been a clear sign that the devices will soon go on sale. The reported ones have been showing up in the GTA area but, I'm assuming most locations will see them in store by launch. The launch date was rumored to of have been pushed back but it appears thus far that Rogers is still on time for their September 24th release date. Upon release, you can pick up the BlackBerry Torch from Rogers for $199.99 with a new 3yr contract.

but i was walking by a BELL store at Yonge/Sheppard Centre and they had a dummy unit to play with. Felt great in my hand. Now I just need to find one with a working OS so I can see how the OS reponds. SO EXCITED!!!

Pre-ordered mine last week just have to wait till friday

jyaniv

Who did you pre-order from?

coolcut

I pre-ordered mine from bestbuy. $50 deposit required

3 year contract? Who keeps a smart phone for 3 years these days? The technology moves too quickly.

folding

In Canada we get to sign 3 year contracts for the same discount you get with a 2 year contract...

Hi, I might be moving from the US to Canada (Montreal) and it looks like you don't get free long distance, is that right? I thought you guys would have better plans than us. Who do you recommend for a carrier? Thanks

Tangocore

Been bb less for 2 weeks, cant wait for friday!

dboy54

been flip flopping back and forth on whether to replace my 9000 with the torch or wait for something better to come out. At the end of the day it should be better than the 9000 (which I have loved) and no mater what there will always be something newer and better coming out. So Friday morning off to the Rogers store. Unless I flip again. any thoughts?

coolcut

If you wait for something better, you'll always be waititng... I say if you like the torch, get it. After me though ;)

jvictor77

Me and my Apps have really outgrown my trusty 9000 - so Torch it is for sure! Will not even consider anything else!

Coach101

I have to admit I have been flipping back and forth as well. I'm not as concerned about the processor and the low resolution as I am by the number of smashed screens I have been reading about. It seems they wont take much abuse.

In the end (friday morning) I probably wont be able to resist...

The_Kills

REALLLY think about if you want this thing.

dboy54

What do you mean by REALLLY? is there some reason a bb fan wouldn't want it? and why only bold and curve users?

kieln13

I got to hold and play with a dummy unit tonight I want one so much more now!!!

ORIGINQuest

I've got to play with a production model with full OS6 on and off at work for the last few weeks. I must say that even with my limited use I've found it to have a very responsive/intuitive UI, sturdy feel and a great battery life.
Can't wait to get one for myself!

dlmuse18

Waiting for it to come to Sprint no new phone until the Torch comes

judehrlich

You flip-floppers -- DON'T wait! This is the best BB out there. You will LOVE it. I've had mine for about 5 weeks now and am still finding new, cool stuff that it does. I would not choose Android or iPhone over this one -- I am hooked.

NTOAUHRA

This means that the next contest will be about winning an Unlocked Rogers Torch 9800 .... Right ?? :P

No matter, I couldn't get it till then anyways due to payday! :)

KiDPaul

I just came back from Futureshop where I pre-ordered the phone, ($30 deposit required) and they told me it was delayed till September 30th and when I got home I called Rogers and they confirmed this. I am praying to god that this is some kind of gimmick to try and get some surprise out of people when they do release it tomorrow.

Please let this thing release tomorrow.

Killington

And yet their splash page rogers.com/torch continues to report Sept 24th

davwall

Just checked the website...now says end of september. Quite frankly, RIM does need to step up their game seriously to keep people coming back to these devices, the pricing at 599 is avg and i hope the device is worth it. hard to say if i will part with my 9700. i think its a great device all around. So the question remains, how long do i remain with Rim? Time will tell since there are many more advanced better phones out there......

The Blackpad is the newest rumor about Research in Motion. The headline about the Blackpad, possibly including a preview, could possibly be made at the Developer Conference today.

I read this here: Blackpad - Seven inches of Blackberry rumorsSome news sites are reporting that a fully functioning machine can be previewed. Others say the Blackpad is still in first development and won't even be discussed. The rumors circulating around the Blackpad are sure to continue. With or without an announcement, some are keeping a close eye on the newest developments.
