Curve Sale!

Considering the BlackBerry Curve has been selling for $249 on Rogers , a weekend price drop by a Rogers Dealer to $99 screams one thing... clean out some inventory cause the BlackBerry Bold is coming! Big Thanks to T. Rogers for sending this tip in (seriously).

UPDATE: This is interesting new for those on Rogers in Canada.... I just received this email tip: Just giving you guys a heads up on some important news from Rogers. My source at Rogers has just informed me that ALL managers have been told that there will be no time off for any managers during the weeks of June 23 - July 13. My source has candidly told me they expect that the Blackberry Bold/iPhone launch will be during that period along with a slew of new packages and (finally) revised data plans.

I find this inside tip of "that ALL managers have been told that there will be no time off for any managers during the weeks of June 23 - July 13" - interesting. Since Rogers doesn't own any retail stores, my question is managers of what are not allowed to take time off? All Rogers stores are independently owned dealer stores.

As for Rogers supposedly clearing out their curve inventory - don't get your hopes up that the Bold is launching in the next could of weeks. Rogers just got the devices in Toronto within the last week so start the 8 week clock from say May 15th. Additionally, the Bold will not be replacing the Curve, it's the replacement for the 8800 series and will be priced as such.

Cheers.

It doesn't matter if the Bold is an 8800 replacement vs. Curve replacement. When the Bold hits the stores people will be buying it instead of the Curve. It's the latest and greatest. The Curve is crap in comparison.

Are the Rogers Plus stores not owned by Rogers? I always thought visiting one of those stores was equivalent to calling Rogers on the phone. Thought it was a carrier outlet.

it is. they are all owned by corporate and have store managers.

This makes me mad as well. I just called Roger's to get another BB for my girlfriend and it will be 249$. I asked if this was just and Edmonton promotion and the service rep said it must be.

Guess I will have to wait.

Over the last 3 months, AT&T has been running the Curve at $99 and this was prior to the announcement of the Bold. RIM and Carriers are probably trying to liquidate as much inventory as possible in anticipation of the Bold but tying that to an impending release of the Bold is a bit much. I have heard from a regional manager in AT&T that they are expecting the Bold the third week in June. I would say that is highly speculative as I am sure anyone with knowledge of the actual release date has signed an NDA. Probably knowledge via the grapevine...

Yeah, I don't disagree with you. That's why there's a question mark on the blog post title. It's a discussion topic..not a factual statement. The interesting there is that we're talking Canada and Rogers actually knocking down pricing... which doesn't happen that often. Prices drop a lot quicker south of the border. North of the border the prices tend to drop more slowly...

The Pearl 8100 is an inferior unit to the Curve 8310 though... this is not just my opinion, but from a retail stand point as well.

noting the update, does anyone think that there is hope of an unlimited Rogers data plan?
