Rogers 8520 Devices Arriving At Stores!

Over at Howard Forums, Treatz has advised that the Rogers branded 8520'S have been sent to some store locations and the rest will follow through out the week. If you're looking to grab one of these you may wish to give a shout out to your local Rogers location and see if they have gotten any in, if you're lucky they may just sell you one before the actual launch date as Rogers isn't really known for keeping devices under wraps. This one will set you back $99.99 with 3 year contract with voice and data promos $45 and higher, a nice entry level price which should drop even further after a while. Offical launch should be around October 9th.

A brand new Curve 8520 with tax & shipping is 400 CAD at tigerdirect. What is the point with $99 on a 3 year?

Best Buy Canada is currently listing (avail Oct 9th) the 8520 at $449 no contract. Come on Rogers! This is supposed to be an entry level BlackBerry. It's really nothing more than a Curve 8320 with more memory and dedicated media buttons, but with a cheaper looking build quality. From what I've heard, the 8520 is supposed to be aimed at the prepaid market. It's going to have to cost a lot less than $449 to get people to buy it. I would say the maximum should be $199 for this phone if it's going to be offered as prepaid.

$99 for a 3 year contract is ridiculous also. If I had to choose a 3 year contract on Rogers and had a budget of $100 or less I would go with the HTC Magic. It is much more technologically advanced and is $29 on a 3 year contract (It also has Wi-fi and GPS, HSDPA, larger, higher resolution screen and it plays Youtube video! LOL). I wouldn't choose either though. The Bold is being offered at Best Buy currently for $199 on a 3 year contract. Why settle for an entry level BB when you can get a Bold for $100 more?

Got it a few months ago and after playing with it for a few days, I gave it to my 7 year old. How do you go from the bold and curve to that?

If you pop into a Source store, you can get the Bold for $99 on a three year or $50 for the 8900. Just an FYI.

Hmmmm, a Bold for $99 or a Curve 8520 for $99? Such a hard decision! LOL
