A short time ago, I received word from Electric Pocket that their Ringo ringtone application has been recently updated. Originally, a user could create custom tones to alert them of incoming calls, email or SMS. With this new update, Ringo now allows you to customize a flashing LED notification, allowing for audible and visual alerts. This is a great addition, as some users want to set their phone to silent, but still receive notifications. The main features include:

  • Easily use your own MP3 music as ringtones and message alerts
  • Set unique ringtones for each of your friends
  • Set your phone to block or ignore certain callers or groups
  • Set custom LED colors for contacts and alerts
  • Set different email, SMS and PIN message tones for your friends
  • Set ringtones for caller groups and categories
  • Set different email and message tones for different groups
  • Set your BlackBerry to silent overnight or on weekends
  • Works with the BlackBerry Profile app and co-operates with alert settings
  • -Silent when Blackberry Profile set to Off
  • -Ringo will only ring for Phone Calls if "Phone Only" profile is selected
  • -Ditto for Profile "Vibrate only" setting - Ringo will only Vibrate
  • -Works with other alert settings for other apps (Facebook, Twitter etc.), as set in the current Profile
  • -BugMe! alert support using Task alert settings in Ringo

Ringo is no stranger to CrackBerry; I reviewed an earlier version back in March of 2008, which you can check out here. Ringo is available at the CrackBerry App Store/SuperStore for $12.99 and has a free trial period.

+1

fuck that shit. Developers really need to start coming up with more moderate pricing schemes.

Man o man. RIM developers have a great collective sense of humor. Shillberry strikes again.

$12.99? Really? not so much....

$1.99 MAYBE....

devGOD

just about all of those features you can already do for free. LED, Ringtones for contacts and emails... its part of the OS already. And, what's up with that price $12.99. This gets the retard award.

MarcSMASH

My thoughts exactly. What is it with these outrageous prices for BlackBerry apps? Its getting out of hand.

#Fail - first time I have agreed with ALL COMMENTS.

Please no one pay this amount. We have to take some sort of stand on this crap, or soon they'll all start tryin' this lol. Ryan, I'm almost surprised you even passed this along. I know that would get into you guys having to 'judge' what's a rip-off though.

grotty

If this was april 1 I would have taken this as a joke..I'm not so sure I would pay 12.99 for a useful app.. Take the 1 or 2 aff the price and I might give it a try ..

Pathtek4

We must be taken as suckers to pay $12.99 for an app like this! I hate the fact that there is poor competition in the developer market and allows people to charge a S-load of money for stuff. I'm fine paying for someones time and effort, but honestly, $12.99 x 1000 people that buy it would be $12,990 for these people...I'm in the wrong business if this sells

ChanelGrace

Mmmthanks, but I'll stick with BerryBuzz...and just do all of the other stuff for free

DustBow

yep, BerryBuzz + 5.0 = all set

notmeforreal

Pre-dawn raid

$12.99!!! They must be on crack. I wouldn't even pay that for Quick Launch and I think it's the best BB app out there.

joski

you guys are so goddamn cheap. everyone is so cheap.

This is why sarcasm on the net is an epic fail. And if it wasnt sarcasm, you be nutz.

STRETCHA

...One week late for an April Fools prank!

No way in hell should anyone take that price seriously.

hitman52

Cheap if you refuse to buy this bc of the price your cheap, there's plenty of apps that can do the same at a cheaper wth they gotta bump there price 2x as much as there competitors another example of bad marketing.
