RIM Updates App World To Fix Connection Issues!

BlackBerry App World Updated!

*UPDATE* Now running at a version 1.0.0.28, wow that was quick.

Well it's only been a few short days now since the launch of the BlackBerry App World and while for the most part everything does seem to be working for those who can access the services some users out there were having connectivity issues within the application.

That appears to of been adjusted rather swiftly by RIM and if you are still running 1.0.0.26 of BlackBerry App World, you are encouraged to download it again so that you may get the update to version 1.0.0.27, which is said to of corrected connectivity issues. If anybody has downloaded this that was having issues previously, let us know in the comments how it's working now!

Downloaded I Hart or Love Radio whatever.... and it works great!! I love the oldies station. I would recomend it to all ,it loads quick and sounds great on my Storm. Hey Verizon were the hell is our OS update? You guys lagggggg.

Removed temporary proxy settings from the BES and tested it out. It's working for me for now at least.

Spoke too soon, same connection issues, going to have to put the proxy info back on our BES for now.

I haven't had any connections issues so far. i guess i'll do the updated one anyway. Still waiting on Verizon and/or RIM to update our storms. We really need it. It's been long enough.

Hoppin on the download as we speak (or as I type, lol). It was definitely a little slow on my Storm...the pictures took a little while to load. Hopefully that minor issue is resolved tho.

It's interesting to me that RIM didn't blast out a message saying it's available. Most of my friends with bberrys didn't even know about app world.

Does anyone know if app world will be rolled into the next OS update for compatible phones? I thought the "Application Center" would just force an upgrade to app world, but that's not the case I guess.

I've installed the .27 version and still can not connect. I had to remove the Desktop [IPPP] service book to get it to work. I'm on VZW and BES. It seems App World is designed without the ability to change connection type to TCP, like other applications. If I need to connect to my Intranet, I have to recover the service book first. Not hard, but shouldn't have to work around it like that. I'm very disappointed.

Nope.... still no change. I still can't download ANYTHING from BlackBerry App World. I opened a page on RIM forum but no responses as of yet?!?!?! Any help would be appreciated.

I've downloaded the updated version and still cannot connet. I continue to receive a message to "verify my networks connections and try again." I'm able to connect to other sites BUT NOT BLACKBERRY APP WORLD.

RIM should be embarrassed. I didn't expect much when I downloaded it but, it is probably 10 times worse than I thought it would be.

Everything that is useful is too expensive and most of the APPs aren't built for the Storm (Which is Brutal anyway). Oh well. When is this new Curve (Niagra) coming out for Verizon?

Just updated to 1.0.0.27 from 1.0.0.26. Still no connection from my BB Storm 9530 on BES. "BlackBerry App World is having trouble connecting to the BlackBerry App World server. Verify your network connections and try again."

Has anyone else actually read the license agreement for the App Store application? Unless I am reading something very different from everyone else, I can't believe that people will actually agree to the terms. As I read it, you have to essentially agree that they have the right to use all of your personal information, including your payment information, in any way they see fit including disseminating it to anyone they choose. And don't even think about trying to anonymize it in any way becuse the agreement says that you will keep all of your personal information current and accurate.

I had issues before with the error message about not being able to connect to server. I've reinstalled and have the same issue.

Goes to show that RIM is not a software company. They got email right and that's what they have for the past 10 years. Not a bad thing to get right. But one of these days someone else is going to get email right and then what will RIM have!???

Sooo.....is RIM going to ever make the apps list which phones they are compatible with kinda like *COUGH* Crackberry does so graciously *COUGH**COUGH*? Having a Storm and not knowing if a app will even work on it certainly keeps my wallet at bay when it comes to paid apps...

My Storm is working fine - Noticed a big difference in .26 and .27 - pictures next to apps load much quicker and I don't get the loading bar for 15 or 20 seconds, just 1 or 2.

I don't use BES and the initial version would connect, just couldn't see all the offerings on my Storm. Uninstalled the old version and installed the new version and now it won't connect at all.

Not to be snooty, but if you are going to use words as part of your career, you should at least be able to use them properly.

"appears to of..."? "Which is said to of..."?
Really? I thought it was a mistake the first instance, and then it happens again.

I believe you are going for the word..."have". It should be "...appears to have..." or "which is said to have..."
The written word is different than it's aural approximation.

I have to agree here. I don't consider myself a grammar snob, but that's just sloppy writing there. Using "of" instead of "have" is not acceptable on a site of this caliber, especially from one its premier bloggers.

1.0.0.28 is what my phone just download from the blackberry website (link in original post above). I am not sure what is different but it's the second update from RIM today.

I'm still getting a message telling me to upgrade my service plan that includes browsing. I have a data plan already. It sucks I can't take advantage of using App World. I have a T mobile USA 8900. Does anyone have a solution?

Just went to the download page and it said .28, not .29. Also, the second time I went into .28 on my Storm it latched up and went into a complete reboot...nice testing group at RIM. Don't they have a real set of phones to try out before launching this crap.

Only thing makes me mad, How can you download apps and save them to the card instead of the phone, went and did 4 apps and they used up all 1gb???, waste to have 8gb card and noway of sending apps to store them on card instead of phone.HELp
