Listened on my PlayBook last time too. Will be interesting to see what comes of this! ;) Most likely going to be more "bad news" for the US and NorthAmerican markets this quarter. Then well see some things changing in the 3rd. Hopefully.

Results should be inline, accounting for the costs associated with the layoffs. The guidance will be more important given the relatively late release of the BB 7 devices.

I don't think the BB7 phones are going to sell very well. I own a Verizon Bold 9650 and if I want a Bold 9930, I have to pay $250 and be stuck for 24 months with the 9930. Why would I want to commit to a 3G phone for 2 years when 4G phones are out now? Also Blackberry phones with QNX are on their way too.. So why get stuck for 2 years and blow $250 to go just a little faster?

RIM released OS 7 devices on 225 carriers worldwide, and verizon is just one carrier who has partial LTE n/w and how that is going to effect OS 7 sales? BB 9930 is already sold out at most of the verizon stores. RIM will move a lot of devices in the next two quarters and I am optimistic that their stock price will double in near term

Have you bought a BB7 phone yet? With the smartphones on the horizon, buying a BB7 today and committing to it for 24 months would be kind of stupid.

Coming soon, Blackberry with new operating system.
Coming soon, iPhone with new operating system.
Coming soon, Android with new operating system.

What developer is going to write BB7 programs when QNX is coming out soon?

Just talking out loud.

I hate to say this but your "coming soon" with new operating system for bb's is now... OS7 was just released and no one really knows when qnx will be out on a phone. Everyone is saying quarter 1 of next year but I am worried it'll be set back like every other bb smartphone in the recent past. Just my 2 cents.

If QNX smartphones miss the 1st quarter 2012 rollout. BB will be the next Palm or it will be deemed a pager. BB is playing defense not offense. BB is 12 months behind on phones they are currently offering.

Are Think only north American people just live in the world??? How about the rest of the world (Asian & Middle East)? Please guys, not just you all American lives in this world. Many people other side of this world need and use BlackBerry rather than US people.

Other parts of the world will want newer technologies too. BB is a PAGER. Obsolete.

BB outside of USA is not important because of low margin cheap out of date phones.

If I'm wrong of ;)

I as far as "4G" is concerned... Isn't the 99xx as 4G as it gets? I know my 9900 is... H+, which is the fastest network available in Canada, soo.... Wouldn't the 9930 also be some type of "4G" ?? It should be capable of running whatever Verizons fastest is?

I'm a little naive on the networks south of the boarder, could someone please explain his 3G reference.

Thanks :)

They are sold out at Tmobile and Verizon...

Blackberry 9900 sold out in one day at Tmobile

Yeah, the stores had 3 phones and now sold out? :-)

Go buy the 9900 and buy RIMM stock. Let's chat in 6 months and see if you would rather have a QNX phone. If BB does not deliver the QNX phones in 6 months, they will lose even more subscribers that are patiently waiting.

For those of us with a BB that was on its last legs (storm2) we had no choice but to upgrade to a new phone. I am quite happy with my 9930. Besides I live in NH. I won't see good LTE coverage for another two years anyway so for me it is a moot point to wait for LTE.

Am I missing something, or is their Fiscal 2012 a whole year ahead of mine?

Posted by kwokodile Thursday, Sep 01, 2011 266 days ago

I think they call it 2012 because It relates to the 12 months ending 28 Feb 2012

I would love to have a 9930 right now. It's just that I know I'll be sorry I made the commitment 6 months from now.

I'm in a Verizon 4G LTE market. Internet browsing is amazing on smartphones.

Android powers 40% of US smartphones....Apple 32%....BB 11%. RIP BB...it was good while it lasted. Source:

The US is not the whole world... Outside of the US they are still doing fine.

I live in US and could care less about other countries. I just made a comment how it's dead in the US.

BB used to do fine here in the USA too. Other countries will follow the USA because other countries are just like Americans, they want to keep up with the Jones.

I like my Bold 9650 but it and the 9930 is old technology and does not surf the internet as well as the competition. And there are not as many applications. So BB smartphone is not as smart as competitors phones that have more applications.

Get out from your garage and see the world. BB is available in hundreds of countries. Curve is selling like hot cakes.

I really believe that this Qtr will be like more or less the same as the last one, perhaps SLIGHTLY better. However, Q3 will be certainly great IMHO. Can't wait to have a 9900...
