"I know I will reach my ideal weight of 87 kg quickly using this" - baz1001 App World review

OnePound

Okay scale, you hate me and I hate you. That being said we’re going to have to put aside our differences if we’re going to get through this. We both want to see the numbers drop, trust me, I know. The problem is that I think I’m putting more into this than you are. Sure, you’re measuring my weight and displaying it for me (while silently laughing at me), but I’m the one trying to lose it and figuring out my progress. That’s it, I’m bringing in an assistant, don’t try and stop me. Its name is OnePound and it’s going to help crunch the numbers for me. It’s going to let me to focus on diet and exercise, while it keeps track of weight loss, calculates my BMI and charts my journey to skinny town. What about you? Well, why don’t you just sit there and let me stand on you – without screaming for once?

Having options is something that just about everyone loves, options of wallpapers, ringtones, but how about having more than just the default options for unlocking and locking your device? Last week Adam took a look at Easy Lock Pro and while it is a great option for many, we wanted some more variety, right? Luckily for us another great option that is feature loaded is Unlock Pro by the folks at MMMOOO, and it is a great alternative lock option for your device. Featuring three different lock screen options, the ability to customize what is displayed, and what wallpaper is shown, allows for it to fit the needs of a wide user base.

Whether you want a lock screen that allows you to slide to unlock, or pull down to unlock or if you want the ability to quickly launch into camera and other options, Unlock Pro is a great choice for you. The developers have put a ton of time and hard work into making the application well polished, and while there are still a few minor display kinks to work out, they are ready for feedback and willing to listen to ideas. There is a free version which offers just one of the three lock screens, but the paid version which unlocks the other two and all the other features will only run you $1.99. Be sure to hit the link below and check it out for yourself!

Contest: The fine folks at MMMOOO have offered up 25 copies of the full application, featuring all three lock screen options and all the features. All you have to do is simply leave a comment on this post. Contest ends Sunday, limit one entry per person.

“Wunderlist is the best free task manager and better with each new platform they add! Even better than lots of paid task managers…” – PepaBCN App World review

Wunderlist

For me, I need lists to keep myself productive. I need to have that to-do list to refer to, as well as to help me plug away. A few weeks ago, Adam shared the news of the popular Wunderlist application finally making its way to the BlackBerry smartphone OS. If you haven’t heard of it before, Wunderlist is a free cloud-sync task management application that, in my opinion, is long overdue on the BlackBerry OS. No matter what kind of list you’re working on, you can use Wunderlist to easily share it with others in order to complete the list with a team effort. Since Wunderlist is cross-platform, you can effortlessly access your lists, no matter where you are or what you are using. This is great as there are times when I need to look at my memopad or task app on my BlackBerry smartphone (where I usually keep my lists), but it’s in the other room charging or at my desk. I, for one, am happy to have Wunderlist on my BlackBerry.

Seidio Innocase Active Torch 9810 and 9800

It’s safe to say that the more moving parts there are on a BlackBerry smartphone, the greater the chance you have of dropping it. Think about it; say you’re running to a meeting-You have your bag or coffee in one hand, and your BlackBerry in another. Suddenly, you get an urgent email from your boss. Unable to focus on the virtual keyboard, you attempt to slide your BlackBerry Torch 9810 or 9800 open to use the physical one. The next thing you know, you’re watching your Torch slip out of your hand and hit the ground. If only you had more protection on it.

Now a while back, I tried out the Seidio Innocase Active for the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and 9800. I was quite impressed with their CONVERT combo, so I wanted to check out something a little less portly. With a thickness of just over 2 millimetres, what kind of protection can it offer?

PowerBag Business Class Pack

Right after the hectic days of Christmas die down and the New Year comes, tech bloggers, journalists, press and any other interested geeks start gathering their toys and packing a bag to head off to Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). I have a stash of travel gear tucked away, so when I start packing for any conference it's never too much of a chore. My cables are tucked away in my Skooba Cable Stable, all my devices (phones, tablets, iPod) are in one drawer for easy access and my "conference bag" is pre-stocked with my Moleskine, some pens, business cards, power cords and my retractable USB cables so I never have to worry about forgetting them. Now typically I just toss my gear in my bag and I'm ready to roll -- but this year I had a slight change of plans before heading off to Sin City.

Not two days before leaving for CES I had a visit from UPS who dropped off a larger than normal box for me. Upon opening I saw a backpack inside. I immediately checked my Amazon history (I order a lot of stuff and sometimes forget what's coming) and noticed nothing unusual. As I pulled the contents, a quick note let me know that I was now the proud owner of a Powerbag and was welcome to stop by the booth at CES to pick up my battery. Intrigued and excited (and somewhat disappointed that I had no battery) I hopped over to mypowerbag.com to check out the details on my new toy bag. Keep reading for my expierence and real life use of the Powerbag Business Class Pack.

"The Trident Aegis Series case is of such high quality, Hephaestus must have made it himself. "

Trident Aegis Series Case

The Aegis, in Greek mythology is the shield of Zeus that was forged by Hephaestus. During the Iliad, he once lent the Aegis to Apollo and it appears as though he has also lent it to the folks at Trident. The Aegis series is their mid-range line, which offers moderate protection and a unique style. Today, we are looking at the Trident Aegis case build for the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and 9800. With a name like Aegis, this case has a lot to live up to. I was hoping that the Aegis proved to be as formidable as the one Zeus used, or else I would have had to release the Kraken!! Read on to see if it came to that.

"With such convenience, the Powermat Wireless Charging System should be a standard for all BlackBerry smartphones. "

Powermat Wireless Charging System for the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and 9800

I am not a big fan of cables – I try to avoid them when I can. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard, I have a Bluetooth speaker phone in my car and I have a stereo Bluetooth headset for when I’m taking the heel-toe express. The one cable that seems to keep me tied down is my BlackBerry charger. I know, it seems petty, but it’s not so much when I’m half asleep, in the dark, fumbling with the charger and charging port. Anyone with extremely active kids knows that the less time you take to plug in your phone, the less time they have to do things they’re not supposed to do (like playing hockey IN the house).

That’s why I like a wireless charging system from the good folks at Powermat. No wires, just power and convenience. While not available for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, it is available for other BlackBerry smartphones, including the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and 9810. For simple charging in a not so simple lifestyle, Powermat is a must have.

I've always been looking for a bigger and better way to lock my device. I'm not always a fan of typing in a password, and I really just never got into using the lock button for some reason. I've tried many pattern and key locking apps over the years, but one I found last week I totally fell in love with. Easy Lock (available in both pro and lite versions) is a simple "slide up" lock screen for your BlackBerry. You can assign it to lock on the hardware lock button or specify a timeout of up to 15 minutes and your device will lock automatically. A full screen covers your device -- complete with time, date and notifications -- and you just slide it up to unlock your device (much like Windows Phone). It feels so fluid that it's like it was meant to be there all along. Check out my video above to see it in action, then head to BlackBerry App World to try it out for yourself.

Motorola S10-HD

As an audiophile I take my search for Bluetooth headsets seriously. I spend hours nitpicking accessories to find one with everything I'm looking for especially when they're not wired headsets. They have to give the perfect balance of bass and treble (without the use of an equalizer) and be snug yet not too tight that I feel like my skull is in a vice. Now I've owned the Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth stereo headphones so I thought I'd pick up the newest model, the Motorola S10-HD, and take them for a spin.
