Review: Seidio Silicon Skin Case for BlackBerry Pearl 8100

The Seido Silicon Skin case for the 8100 offers great protection for your Pearl without adding a lot of extra weight or bulk. The Pearl’s small size and light weight are part of what makes it such a unique device, so a case designed to protect it shouldn’t detract from those features. The Seidio Silicon Skin matches up perfectly with the Pearl’s sleek elegance.

The flexible skin fits snugly over the Pearl. This case was designed with precision; the small cutouts for the camera and various controls on the side align perfectly. One thing to note is that the buttons next to the trackball are covered by this case, including the red and green phone keys and the menu and escape buttons. This felt a little strange at first, but I quickly got used to it and decided I don’t mind. As a feature, the little padding around the trackball may help keep it from accidentally being pressed.

The silicon case has a little “grip” to it. This should make it resistent to, say, sliding around on your car’s dashboard as you drive around town. The slight downside to this is that it becomes a little more difficult to slip the Pearl in and out of your pocket. If the Pearl is normally in your purse, you probably won’t care. But if you’re more of a front-pocket-of-the-jeans kind of Pearl carrier, you’ll be a little slower on the draw.

Overall, this is a very good case that protects your Pearl without adding much bulk. It looks nice and gives the Pearl a solid feel. You can find it at seidioonline.com.
