Full Disclosure: The order screen confirming my purchase of ONE share of RIMM stock

It's finally happening! After all these years of CrackBerrying it up, I'm finally going to the Mecca of BlackBerry... Waterloo, Ontario!!! Research In Motion announced yesterday that their Annual General Meeting of Shareholders will be held on July 12, and I've decided I need to be there to witness this pivotal moment in RIM's history. The flight and hotel are booked! Get ready for me Waterloo!!!!!

Full Disclosure: It's funny, I figured I would have to own some RIMM stock to be able to attend the Annual Shareholders Meeting, but after doing some research I discovered anybody can attend - you only need to own stock if you want to vote by proxy. That said, I want to be fully legitimate in my presence there, so I have gone ahead and purchased ONE share of RIMM. Hopefully nobody will think any less of my journalistic integrity. :)

So that's that. I'm going to Waterloo. I'm SUPER STOKED. Seriously, this is like Charlie going to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. This is going to be awesome.

Perhaps you and your friend are the boring ones. Living in Waterloo is fantastic and there are plenty of things to do all year round.

knowledge_6

not really... it's pretty boring.. unless your older and in retirement phase of your life

dickdong

Agreed. KW is soulless. Get a real city.

kb2755

Yeah don't get your hopes up TOO high. Its pretty uneventful here.

Certainly not as magical as you make it out to be ;)

gord888

It's a university town... ergo, there are many pubs/bars :)

avici

how much support would we pledge to RIM if every CrackBerry member purchased ONE share?

MarcBernard

Enjoy the trip to Waterloo! Stop in at the Heuther Hotel for some good local beer.

coldfir3

He's soo excited :-p. I live like 5 minutes away from RIM and its nothing special :-p

LinkNote

Awesome you should organize Waterloo get together (or preferably in Toronto) I would so likely come over ;-) Its only hour drive for me to Waterloo...

kb2755

That's not a bad idea, take over a local bar like McMullan's or the Heuther!

BaconMunch

pivotal moment in RIM's history?

What does Kevin know that we don't?

jlb21

The ONLY reason Kevin is going is because he thinks he can get a 9900 early......

blackmoe

A good place for a meetup would be the new Firkin pub by the Lang Tannery building (Communitech etc)

MarcBernard

Book a couple of extra hours to talk curling and we're all set.

TS_Cycle_Salvage433

That statement was one "eh" away from being the most Canadian statement I've ever heard.

ZMc1834

Do you expect any announcements to come out of this meeting or just same as usual?

SupaCoop

The best bar in Waterloo is Kick-Off. They back onto University of Waterloo / RIM campus. They have 14 beers on tap (no bud, blue or any other crap except for Keith's) and almost 60 different beers in the fridge.

The Huther sells the worst local beer in the world. :P

It will be very interesting to hear what RIM CEO's have to say about the development status of the 99xx. I'm very certain that someone will bring up that question. Also, the roadmap for Blackberry devices in 2012. Awesome!

AshDeezy

Kevin... XP?!? Really!?!?

rolltide78

haha. Congrats on the stock purchase Kevin. I picked up 39 shares at 28. lol. Give em heck for us and tell them... WE WANT OUR COOL NEW DEVICES now! And to not disappoint!

green_ember

I'm still shocked that such an avid Blackberry supporter JUST purchased his first share of stock.... lol ;-)

rolltide78

and has never been to RIM headquarters!

mnhockeycoach99

Kevin,
Make sure you give em hell so they get those new handsets out soon (including the Bold 9900). And speaking of the Bold 9900, can you grab me one when you are there?

Edge of Night

I'm interested in the proxy vote being put forward to have the co-chair position separated from the co-CEO. Presently Mike L and Balsillie hold both. This would prevent that.

inc188

WOW... i cant believe you have not own a RIM stock i the past...

you aint now hardcore Crackberry Fan.... booooo

seriously? only one stock?

i am disappointed

Jimcmf

Do you think that they will be handing out FREE BB's ?

xtremez

WOOOOOO!!! Stoked for you!!

smeagle5

I received my invitation in the mail today (thank you Canada Post) and it says the meeting is "For holders as of May 17, 2011". Being Official, looks like you're out of luck!! lol

accuberryedwin

I own 60shares and would love to be apart of the festivities but i was not invited.

Crackberrykills

I wonder if Kevin is still going to this now that meeting seems far less monumental. There are still big changes afoot at RIM; however, they are now forming a committee to decide on said changes. The two headed RIM monster lives. Well, for now.
