PSA Peugeot Citroen go BES10 and roll out 10,000 BlackBerry 10 devices!

By James Richardson on 17 Dec 2013 04:27 am EST

Another day and yet more fantastic BES10 (BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10) news. As you'll see from the following press release - PSA Peugeot Citroen are to supply 10,000 BlackBerry Z10's to their staff in France and Spain. It doesn't get much better than that!

We've seen a host of big companies make the commitment to BlackBerry 10 recently - in fact this is the second we've learned about this week and it's only Tuesday.

Yesterday we saw the awesome video that SNT Group had created with EE and BlackBerry and the CrackBerry community were sure as hell digging that one.

Keep 'em coming BlackBerry. We're loving this.

Press Release

PARIS, FRANCE and WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec. 17, 2013) - BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY)(TSX:BB) announced today that PSA Peugeot Citroen will deploy 10,000 BlackBerry Z10 smartphones for its operations in France and Spain, and is migrating to BlackBerry's award-winning Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution - BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (BES10).

BlackBerry 10 is the platform of choice for France-headquartered PSA Peugeot Citroen, the second largest car manufacturer in Europe. "BlackBerry 10 is the best mobility platform for us in terms of integration, security, connectivity and price," said Eric Marchand, Head of Telecom at PSA Peugeot Citroen. "Every day, our employees need to share and access confidential information so it's critical that we have the most secure and user friendly smartphones. With BES10, we are assured that the confidentiality of our information is maintained while also ensuring that Peugeot's employees can enjoy the best experience for personal as well as professional use."

According to Herve Liboureau, Managing Director for Western Europe and Central Europe at BlackBerry, "This significant investment by PSA Peugeot Citroen demonstrates the value and benefits that BES10 with BlackBerry 10 smartphones brings to enterprise customers. BES10 was chosen for its complete end-to-end security, simplified integration with existing IT systems, and numerous enterprise applications."

To date, customers have installed nearly 30,000 BES10 commercial and test servers around the world. In France, more than 60 percent of the CAC 40 companies (the 40 companies with the most significant values among the 100 highest market caps on the Paris Bourse) have ordered, downloaded or installed BES10. Organizations continue to choose BlackBerry because it is the most proven and trusted enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution, supporting iOS, Android and BlackBerry smartphones.

Power? somebody is trying to take it away again, check out Seeking Alpha, just in ....Blackberry take an order! DEC.17,8:49am.He even says rotten things about Peugeot.and just when Pre Market was doing well,Oh well.

I absolutely agree with your sentiment about the stupid alpha article but please watch your language Dave. Minors read Crackberry as well etc.

Dave/Moderators: Can you edit the above comment?

I just don't get your point in promoting a negative OPINION PIECE on a financial blog site. Without solid news or research, a post on SA isn't any more valid than a comment on CB.

Point is ,it seems like whenever BB has good news, those guys come out with BS just to shoot BB down,it never ends on that site.Look at what happened today.Pre-market was good.they shoot out some stupid story about how Peugeot is in trouble financially ,at 8:49 am just before the market opens and look where the stock is now -1.54%.I don,t know how they do it but it never seems to fail.I guess their mailing list is full of people who believe in what they are saying. It absolutely stinks.10,000 loses from Homedepot and Oh Boy,10,000 phone sales and nothing, except to bad mouth the company that bought them, among other things.I am not Promoting them I hope just pointing out the regular path they follow.

Ehhh, you're still drawing attention to SA and blunting the positive effect of this news, whether that's your intent or not.

this is great news, and I notice whenever great things happen, the stock trades lower, and guess who usually comes out with shit to shoot BB down, now if you go down and check my original comment 7 hrs ago you will see I never mentioned them.

The only problem is that this site is singing to the choir and that site is bashing to the uninformed masses.

Talking about a site bashing BlackBerry HERE doesn't affect the good news whatsoever.

Bashing two excellent innovators THERE changes/skews any positive news because it will surely be picked up and repeated throughout the business news world.

I like Joe Kernen...except when he is bashing BlackBerry and trying to get Becky Quick to buy a mePhone.

Wanted so much to have Peugeot(and Renault...wanted to buy a Renaultsport v6) return to the USA...even thought about importing from Mexico(Free Trade Agreement should be good for something...though I'm sure it's really difficult).

Now I would just like to see Peugeot restart their Le Mans diesel car program or get back into the WRC(the pipe dream is a return to a constructor and not just an engine supplier).

Peugeot 505 STI» Peugeot 405 Mi16» Honda s2000»...Chevrolet Corvette C7

Renaultsport Clio v6.

Peugeot 505 STI» Peugeot 405 Mi16» Honda s2000»...Chevrolet Corvette C7

Seeking Alpha is a joke lately. Many paid BBRY bashers on that site. And many Anti-BBRY articles with negative opinions made out as if they were facts to fool the unsuspecting reader. The worst part is they allow this nonsense as BBRY news.

SA talks gibberish all the time. I wonder how they get paid. SMH.

Seeking Alpha is just a medium to allow people to post articles. Its not SA who are biased, its the people who write the articles who are biased. BTW the problem is that the people who write negative articles out number the people who write positive articles about BB. So what happens is that when a positive article comes out 10 other negative articles come out. There is not much SA can do about that! So in conclusion if they were really hostile or biased they would never allow anyone to post anything nice about BB right!

That might affect BMW!
They work very close together with PSA!
Maybe they also jump on BES10, when they see how PSA rolls?!

Europe has discovered other countries are using their spying apparatus for commercial gain. I wonder when the USA will figure that out?

Wonderful, Chen said the focus is on enterprise and we can see some serious uptake here.

Who said this recent success has anything to do with Mr Chen at All?!

Decisions by CIO's are not frivolous and takes time, not to mention IT implementing a request that needs to go through change management controls. Since its not a critical change request to enable a new BES10 server, add to that migrating 10'000 device roll-out which no doubt could also include renegotiating price plans this isn't something you just enable in 14-20 days.

I'm willing an honors bet that this was already in the process before Chen's arrival and add to that it took him 2wks to assess the company from within before even making a public statement.

Unless you understand the business or have inside information I would not make such statements without proof of it. For now we can only speculate and hope this can be attributed to Chen and it's a sign of future positive change to occur.

Good news.
Super_fly1 is right. This deal will have taken 3 months minimum to position, negotiate and close.
But blackberry need to make more of prestige deals like this.

Posted via CB10

Yeah but most IT departments have been holding off on committing with BlackBerry until they see what us happening with the company. Chen is a signal that BlackBerry is here to stay AND that they are entirely focused on enterprise going forward. This isn't Chen so much as Prem Watsa causing companies to now be comfortable locking down. It will start a chain reaction soon.

"I'm willing an honors bet that this was already in the process before Chen's arrival."

Surely, this was the case. But just as surely, CIOs started squeezing the brakes when Heins put up the for sale sign on the company. You don't deploy 10,000 devices from a company that could be picked apart by vultures. So Chen probably does deserve credit for repairing confidence and closing the deal.

I never got the impression that it was Heins' decision to put the company up for sale. (As a first time CEO, he was probably hoping to be the turn-around guy for BlackBerry.) It's more of a Board and Watsa plan, to "unlock" shareholder value. Though, he was given an incentive - $55 mil if the company changed hands. That was set up by the Board and Watsa, before Watsa temporarily resigned.

Heinz was a disgrace, he put Blackberry on sale, hoping to make quick buck. In the process, he killed any momentum BB10 had. Chen is regaining business and consumer confidence and with that we will see many users and organization getting on board with BB10.

Common Chen leverage all those political connections in the US and abroad and get some big government orders from Canada and the UK. Love to see this type of news.

Great news!! WIN some loose some, I recall loosing 10,000 when HomeDepot dumped BB and the effect on the stock,.Do you think tomorrow ,the stock will go up or down?Seems like every time some good news happens BB declines in value. This will only count for the ER after Fridays ,man what a wild trip,I am Very long BB.

You would think it would go up even pre market but I guess we'll see. It's a good vote of confidence from a major company so that's always a good sign.

BlackBerry Z30 | | BBM Channel C0006E212

Thinking this time we'll see it increase with the news, only because ER is so close,so a little cushion for the tumble it's going to take Friday, then again ,if Mr. Chen announces a surprise during the ER ,which I am sure he will ,BB is going to hammer the shorts and happy days will be here again. This guy is the real deal !!

The stock will go down. It will always go down. They can sell 6 trillion phones, it'll bump it a buck..down

Posted via CB10

There's already an article trashing Peugeot on Seeking Alpha ,Published at8:49 today ,just before the market opens,Man somebody wantsBB for peanuts,I say fuk Nasdaq and leave.

It may not gonna happen because Chinese government doesn't allow gov departments or organisations to deploy BlackBerry solution. And that's why BlackBerry disappeared from China.

Posted via CB10

What a nice surprise. It is really a merry merry Christmas to BlackBerry. Keep moving BlackBerry.

Posted via CB10

This is pretty much what someone was alluding to in the other BES article. I suppose if you're sitting on a few million of a product and you want to focus on making sure that the core of your business survives then free phones for subscribing to BES10 is a good plan. I can't imagine the companies adopting BES10 will switch to anything else either as it's the best out there.

Posted via CB10

Great news and this should help reduce their Z10 stocks so that they can start shipment again.

Friday's earnings will be very interesting!!!

Posted via CB10

I said more of the good news in the snt post and here we are again.

Cool. Just received the delivery of my z10 accessories and it looks even more cooler.

Posted via CB10

That's the kind of corporate names needed to make press releases.

Size of the company and prestige matters, apart of the important detail if BB10 devices are deployed and, if yes, how many, otherwise do not even bother to give a press release: Wondering where the big krakens (worldwide operating banks and fin. institutions) are hiding!!!!

Posted via CB10

Now for BMW....

We know that Bentley has been showcased with QNX.

Mercedes is already involved in F1

Porsche Design Is already designing the P Series of smartphones.

If BlackBerry can get Ford....that would tip the balance in favour of BlackBerry .

The next step is get BBM on the desktop and laptop.

This would go some way to changing the perception of BlackBerry.

Posted via CB10

That's awesome news..

I don't want to be a troll or anything but I really worry about Z10's being used for enterprise. These people will be power users and I think the Z10 battery isn't up to it.

BlackBerry needs to really quickly update the battery in the Z10 somehow if possible

Posted via CB10

You have a very valid point. Maybe part of the accessories is a spare battery which will suffice.

"To date, customers have installed nearly 30,000 BES10 commercial and test servers around the world."

And people say that BlackBerry is losing the enterprise race. I believe they're still winning. Not 30,000 devices, 30,000 servers. Is that not a significant amount?

I'm sure there's still companies that aren't even on BES10 yet but still on the old BES. I know my company is.

BlackBerry still rules the enterprise world IMO. But anyone is welcome to think otherwise...for trolling / arguing purposes.

And if they are giving away the devices to set the deal, it's better for the overall BB10 platform. The more devices in use , the better - for both consumer and enterprise. This could help bring more awareness to the platform. BlackBerry is still at the point of simply telling people that the phones exist. So the more the better.

As more companies begin to adopt BES10, perhaps it will begin to gain more attention and convince others to purchase.

Proud to be FR !
Fantastic news ! :)

P.S: isn't this (and the previous and next to come this quarter) to be added in previous management team success list ? [hit me, I'm so excited, it'll only make me laugh ;)]

Hopefully, Mr. Chen will shed some light on that 30,000 number during the ER this Friday. I'd like to know the breakdown of installs, trials still running, etc.
Great news, BlackBerry!

Great News. Business sector progressing. Other's may follow with confidence given the large company :)

10,000; so that offsets the Home Depot loss last year that every MSM outlet ran over and over and over and over. Does anyone here think that this will get any coverage outside of BlackBerry and CrackBerry?

A big FU to corporate America for turning your backs on the #1 MDM / EMM...

Interesting how BlackBerry announces this a few days prior to a poor earnings report. Smart play.

I'd like to see an announcement like this every week in 2014. One big business per week. There's a lot of companies out there so a lot of market to be had. It can be done.

I agree Bird dude, except I would recommend upping the cadence on those releases. One a day related to BES deployment. If they close two or three in a day, announce them one at a time over the next three days. Big or small doesn't matter, each one highlighting some other advantage or feature or problem solved through this solution.

Posted via CB10

Don't forget to throw in some charging bundles with every Z10.

Keep working on enterprise, get BBM on the desktop, keep innovating, keep perfecting the OS, keep moving forward.

Save your money until all the BB10 devices are out in the world.

Still needs The tech trends department.

Any new devices stay under lock and key. For only Mr Chen eyes only and his approval.

Posted via CB10

Simply a very welcomed news. BlackBerry is moving in the right direction, although slowly but surely.

Simply enjoying my Z30 - - - - Channel # C000E218D

Whether this the work of Mr. Chen or not, it's still a good news. Keep them coming. The more people use bb10 device the better. The more BES10 contracts signed the better.

Posted via CB10

Love it! Like baseball, just concentrate on advancing one base at a time and the game will take care of itself. Way to go BlackBerry!

KeepMoving! It's always good to hear good news.

Certainly get the handsets out to business. The more the better. It takes a spark to get a fire going.
