When we first heard about the idea of our BlackBerry devices communicating with our Blu-ray players it came in the way of "Blu-ray Extras". While I really cannot find any information on what happened with that app, Pocket Blu just released a BlackBerry compatible app that seems to offer quite a bit in the way of functionality. You can use your BlackBerry smartphone as a remote to view content or enter text. One of the better features is to use the app to stream content from the disc such as bonus content or download it for offline viewing.
Right now, only a few devices are supported. Bold 9700, Bold 9000,Curve 8900, 8820, Curve 8520,Curve 8350i, Curve 8320,Pearl Flip 8220 all fit the bill and of course, you need to have a Blu-ray 2.0 player and a Pocket Blu enabled disc. The list is growing for Pocket Blu enabled discs and as the area opens up more I'm sure we'll see more companies on board. Something to keep an eye out for thats for sure.

Some people with home theaters may not have direct line of site to their players. This would be much better, over Wifi. I know, I personally have a table to navigate through when I need to control my HT equipment. :(
Anyone tried this with a WIRED player?

Same Question

I can't get it to work with my PS3, just keeps searching and search and searching.....
fadis Feb 12, 2010 at 4:24 am
On their website it says that it works with PS3. However, it also says that it supports BB OS 4.6 and 4.7 . No mention of OS 5. Maybe that's why it keeps searching without success.

Ok, so it won't work unless you have a Bluray disc that is specifically designed with (Pocket Blu enabled disc)
You can use any of the extras, but control is not possible unless you purchase the specified bluray disc.

Works with any pocket BLU™ enabled Blu-ray™ disc (including Bruno, Inglourious Basterds, Funny People, and Public Enemies), together with a PS3™ or other Internet-connected Blu-ray™ player.
- Pulled straight from the itunes page!!
SWEET!
