Looks like RIM is holding another planned service outage, this time for "system upgrades". If you're located in "The Americas", your BlackBerry service could be affected. The upgrade is planned during the "regular maintenance window" of 2am - 6am EST for this Saturday morning, May 3rd. Unless you're pulling an all-nighter, you should be ok on this one. Don't believe me? Call RIM's Customer Support line at 1-877-255-2377 and you can hear a lovely pre-recorded message saying the same thing! :-) While we're on the subject of phone numbers, if you have any questions for this week's CrackBerry.com Podcast be sure to call them into our hotline at 1-866-904-5772 ext.222 Bookmark/Search this post with:

haha... that's a mistake, as I make lots of mistakes!
as I always say, i'm not a BlackBerry Expert, I'm a BlackBerry Addict...but that's gotta count for something :-)
I thought that I'd read somewhere that OS 4.5 required server-side upgrades for both BES and BIS. Does a "system upgrade" to the servers indicate that RIM is getting ready to roll out the operating system upgrade?
With this upgrade are we going to be able to view youtube on the 8800 series.

What about the thousands of people traveling internationally 'from the Americas'?
That is a very long outage...and yes there are lots of people (including myself) where I am staying staring blankly at their Berries.
For the record...the system came back online at 05:55.
hmm, i'm still not able to place any calls. not sure what the deal is, is anyone else still without service?
