If you're throwing a backyard BBQ, you'll need some cooking skills to impess your guests. Odds are if you're throwing the party you already kind of know what you're doing, but just in case, there are some great apps to help you along.

Nothing says summer more than a great cocktail, and nothing brings out your inner mixmaster more than a great app. Thankfully, there are more than enough to choose from.  I've been bartending long enough to know my stuff, but even if you've never touched a shaker or a muddler, you can still make some great cocktails.

MixMentor HD for the PlayBook will get you going totally free. It includes over 500 drink recipes, barware terminology and more. It's dead simple to use and will have you spinning bottles all day long. It's even packed with drinking games for those parties that drift off into the late hours.
