I just orderd my new blackberry, I've never had one before and I'm confused on how to get the most for my money.....what is the best plan, is wifi worth it? I had a sprint palm....I hated it! I hope my experience with the backberry 8120 is better. Does anyone have any good tips for me to get the best phone plan deal threw T-Mobile with my new Blackberry?

We had the BB rep in our store on the day it launched, and I was really surprised to hear that this new Pearl isn't just an updated 8100, it was built entirely new! Two speakers, two processors, brighter flash, etc, etc, etc. I can't even remember all that he told me about this Pearl ( oh! zooming web browsing!) to help me sell it later. I have a Curve, but I am very tempted to switch. But, he also said that the new 8820 T-Mobile has is the same as the new Pearl, without the camera. I've been toting my regular 5mp camera again lately anyway, so I might do that instead....

Am i understanding correctly that WiFi on the new Pearl is faster than your Wifi on the Curve with Tmobile? I was sure i was getting the Curve in a couple weeks, but this makes me second guess the choice if the wifi is faster.

SUPER ARTICLE! I JUST GOT MY 8120 TODAY! I COULDN'T WAIT FOR IT. MY OLD 8100 WAS STELLAR, BUT I THINS THIS 8120 IS WORTH THE UPGRADE. I'LL BE GETTING MY ROUTER TOMM THEN I'LL TRY THE WIFI SPEED OUT. FOR NOW THOUGH IT SEEMS THAT THE LOADING SPEED IS FASTER THEN MY OLD 8100 BY QUITE A BIT. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT I CAN'T USE MY SEIDIO EXT. BATTERIES FROM MY 8100 IN THE 8120 THOUGH. :( I GUESS I'LL JUST HAVE TO ORDER THE OEM SIZED ONE SEIDIO HAS AVAILABLE FOR NOW.

I don't know how anyone types on these things. My sister in law got one the other day and I tried to type on it. What a pain in the a**. I couldn't select the letter I wanted when I was inputting my PIN into her address book. I've never been a fan of Suretype when I used it on previous phones. Thank RIM for still making us full keyboards.

Coming from a v3 razr I have absolutely no problem texting. The reason i chose to Pearl over the 83xx and 88xx is because I have big thumbs and the buttons are bigger. Suretype for me works like a charm unless you use a lot of slang words but thats solved easily by adding them to the custom word list. Leagues better than T9. I suppose it does take some getting used to though id your coming from a full keyboard.

Exactly my opinion!
SureType is just way better than T9 and it's a good way of typing if you want to type fast but don't want a full keyboard.

I agree that T9 and the Razr were horrible to type and I still can't type on any cell phone. You might be right about suretype if I had a Pearl and invested time to input words. Maybe I'll try to find an inexpensive 8100 to try.

i had the razr when they first cane out! but the thing
wrong with it to me is that im always txting so im a pretty
fast txter by now and the razr was just to slow for me!
i as well ordered mine online! so it is still shipping allthougth one of my very good friends has it and i just fell in <3333 with it! i always take it and say it is mine!
(: lol(: i really enjoy doing that! although i do have one question...wat is wi-fi?

My T-mo plan was up April 1, and I've been looking around at other deals/plans phones for a better deal. Then when i walked into a T-Mo store to see what deals they had, the 8120 was there for $150 with a contract re-sign.

I have to say it was the Wi-Fi feature that sold me on this one. All of my calls from home are now made over my net connection, and with the addition of myfaves i'll likely not pay. This phone is great. And to think I was thinking about going over to Metro. heh.

I'm completely new to BlackBerrys, but being a techie it's been very easy to pick up. I'm running the bphone iPhone skin, have added apps, media, etc with no problems.

My only gripe (its a minor cosmetic one) is that the rollerball LED hacks from the 8100 dont work on this phone.
Supposedly these phones dont have the colored LED's like its predecessor.

Also, can anyone recommend the Otterbox cases? TAre they worth the extra $20 over other hard cases?

I've have the 8130 from Sprint since the day it was released and can't say enough about the L Theme. I've tried others (Today, Zen, Icons) and always, always, always come back to using the L theme.

I can't wait for theme creators to begin making similar themes to the L.

It simply rocks!

This is my very first BB phone and I'm very impressed! I switched from Verizon and had the Treo 700p and w but it was so expensive especially for the data plan. T-mobile's wifi calling together with the blackberry plan makes this phone more of a must have. I have save so much on my bills and can do so much more than I did with the Treo.
I'm still getting to play around with it and getting used to it! Everyday, even at work I just cant put the phone down!

I got this model on Saturday and have to say, apart form a few setup hiccups (this is the first time I have used a blackberry) I have to say it's excellent. I'm still having problems using the keyboard having come from a Sony slide phone but I'm sure I'll get used to that. All in all, I don't think I will ever be using any other device!!

My initial experience with the Blackberry 8120 was not so good. In fact, I'd like to go back to using my 8100!

The Design of the phone seems to be the issue.

While Speaker phone works fine, there is an echoing effect.

Also, I cannot seem to get my microSD card to work. Although the phone recognizes the card, new applications(I.E. Google Maps)do not give you the option to store on the card. Pictures and movies do not install on the card either.

I tried a new card and the same result.

Mass storage mode is on, I've formatted the card and same result.
