We all know that the name OtterBox means quality protection for our devices. The new OtterBox Commuter Series case for the BlackBerry Style 9670 is no exception. I was very excited when I heard OtterBox was making a case for the 9670 & couldn't wait to get my hands on one. I've previously purchased several cases for my other BlackBerry devices and trust the OtterBox name to deliver on it's protection guarantee. I know there isn't a whole slew of BlackBerry Style owners out there but for those of you who are rocking this nice little device read on for the full review & see the pics (sorry there isn't a video this time, my camcorder met with an untimely demise). Keep reading for my review.
OtterBox Commuter Series case for the BlackBerry Style 9670
The case comes in 3 pieces (front, back & silicone cover) and includes 2 screen protectors.

Features:
- Access to all side button features
- Silicone plugs allow access to all ports
- Open access to camera and speaker
- Durable
- Quality construction
Installation
According to the instructions, you should put the silicone layer on first, then snap on the back piece:

and finally the front piece:

When installing that way, the silicone covers for the ports tended to make snapping the case on just a tad bit difficult. I found it much easier to place the silicone layer inside the two pieces of the case & then snap them on the device (back then front). The covers for the port fit very nicely and open easily for access. Note: You do have to remove the case in order to use a charging cradle.

Final Thoughts
While being a great case, I found the silicone part that covered the hinge created a loop when opened that tended to be a bit annoying.

There were no complaints of an "echo" affect when on a call nor did I notice it hindering the sound in any way when on speaker. The OtterBox case does add a bit of bulk to the 9670 and makes the phone a little heavier than I like. I also would have liked the back piece to have more of a rough texture to aid in a better grip. The OtterBox Commuter Series case for the BlackBerry Style 9670 sells for $32.95 at ShopCrackBerry.com.

Really, I have at least six to seven Otterbox cases that have broke for no other reason than removing the case to pull the battery, on more than a few occasions. The Otterbox for the Torch is practically useless and was broke within the first 3 months of ownership, not to mention the button issues it caused. Now the company is outstanding and do stand behind their products somewhat, but the fact that they continue to break so easily throws me off from wanting to purchase any other cases from them.

You may know this already, but next time you need or want to perform a battery break, just hold ALT+SHIFT (I always use the right-shift, find it easier)+DELETE all at the same time, wait for your status light to go to steady red, and the phone will power cycle on its own. May not solve your "case" issues, but at least you don't have to take it off. I agree that the Torch case could be been better.
Simple, straightforward, to-the-point review. Thanks so much.

I haven't ever had an issue with OtterBox cases but feel your frustration when it comes to Seidio cases. As for this case, I was popping it off every night for a week so I could use the charging cradle and I dropped it (on concrete no less) several times. The case didn't even get a scratch. It was still solid as a rock by the end of the week.

You can't go wrong with an Otterbox. I've used one on every BlackBerry i've owned and they do their job well. The screen protectors are very good also.
Linsb07 Mar 9, 2011 at 3:59 pm
Yes, their screen protectors are AWESOME and sooo easy to put on. Not as "hard-core" as an iShield, but way easier to install, and you don't have to wait for it to dry lol

I have a question - are the 2 screen protectors 1 for inside, 1 for outside, or is there an extra one included or... ???
Kerri Neill Mar 9, 2011 at 6:35 pm
You could do either

I own this case for my Style. It is AWESOME!!!! I like the added bulk and it's tough as nails.

Hi There!, it looks excellent, i think, Is too hard to break.
Bye bye.

Side note...after using this case for a few weeks, I noticed that the USB cable can cause the little plastic piece above to break if you do not angle it down a bit when unplugging.
