OS 4.7.0.85 Leaked for the BlackBerry Storm 9500!

BlackBerry Storm 9500 OS 4.7.0.85

OK Vodafone BlackBerry Storm owners, your wait is over! OS4.7.0.85 for the Storm 9530 leaked back on December 27th, and now, thanks yet again to our good friend BB397, Storm 9500 owners can take their shot with 4.7.0.85.

Keep in mind this is NOT an official release, so install at your own risk and only if you're comfortable with doing so. If you've never installed an OS beta before be sure to dive into the CrackBerry forums and read all of our tutorials. Keep in mind that these leaked OS's sometimes take a step backwards in one area while taking a step or two forward in another. If you're on the fence, you're best off waiting until the 9500 4.7.0.85 Discussion & Findings thread fills up with some data.

I would wait..85 is quicker and when it is running it feels really good but .85 for the 9530 has two very bad bugs. If you haven't heard about em yet, one is a media card inserted freeze, and the other is a Verizon Logo freeze, both of these require battery pulls. It happens to me everytime I power my phone off, and even has done it after using Softreset. Your .85 might be slightly different I dunno, but .85 for the 9530 stinks.

.83 has the same splash screen of death, as for freezing, we've been promised that .85 runs better on the 9500 than the 9530...

.85 for the 9530 is not good...my device ran faster before the update...and honestly, the accelerometer doesn't seem any faster either...even though it was said to be...hmm...haven't had the freeze problems, but a few of the icons don't show up correctly anymore...for example, the Application Center icon has been replaced by what appears to be a default app logo...anyway...that's my experience so far...

I'm starting to lose all my certainties!
I'm reading everywhere about the fastness and the logo freezing stop updating the OS to the .85, and now i'm hearing about the worst firmware since the .75!?!
I think i will upgrade and try by myself, tomorrow will come! :D

Ive had the .85 since it was leaked and have not yet experienced the 2 "very bad" flaws. I've used it in Germany, Iraq and now in oregon...Flawless actually.

In another forum I asked if it mattered what link you choose to download the OS from? If someone could help answer that, I'll post the link I used..

If it doesn't matter, you can always try it and switch back if you don't like it...

I'm about ready to switch my 9530 back to .75. .85 is driving me batty with the lock-ups and the inability to reboot in only 1 try. I keep getting the "Media Card Inserted" issue when rebooting. It usually take 2 or 3 tries.

The strange thing is it seemed OK for a few days after the switch to .85...

So funny I had reported the issues with the .85 for the storm 9530. A lot of people were like it works so much better I am like just wait... I went back to the official .75 update even though it can sometimes be slow at times. From the phone freezing up so many times and having to take out the battery for me it was a nightmare. Kevin you should put a section in this blog on how to remove the software if things go wrong and ty for everything you have to offer this site kicks ass!

The megaupload utility is not an efficient download tool. I have been unable to download the OS upgrades for 9530 and 9500 through the link.
Can you offer any alternatives please !

i updated from .78 to .85 and... im surprised

typing feels better, the camera makes the pictures faster,
and... wtf a good working keylock :)

The megaupload utility has been unable to facilitate the downloads for the OS upgrades for 9530 & 9500 on my laptop. I end up getting a blank page with the usual message 'that my computer has disallowed a download' which I then allow but nothing happens !
Is there an alternative way for downloading the files ?

cant seem to get megaupload to download the Storm OS upgrades (9530 & 9500) - each end up presenting 'your computer has prevented downloading program' and despite clicking allow, nothing happens.
Can anyone please advise an alternative utility/method for the downloads ?
