BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 rolling out to T-Mobile users starting today

By Adam Zeis on 13 Mar 2014 01:01 pm EDT

Next up in line for 10.2.1 is T-Mobile, one that we've been expecting for a few weeks now. According to our good pal Michael Clewley, T-Mobile will begin rolling out OS 10.2.1 today around 2pm ET. That means that if you're on Tmo you should see the update at some point before the day is out — we hope.

Good to see this one coming, now if we can just get it on all of the other carriers too. If you do see the update, be sure to drop a comment letting us know, along with where you are and what device.

BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 rolling out to T-Mobile users starting today

Yes, finally we can have our second update which upgrades us from 10.1

Ok now I am up and running. For now I wont be able to say much about how it is working because I just started using it. But, wifi calling is still working :), I deleted a e-mail message and it asked me if I wanted to delete it from the device or from the server and hub ,welcome back legacy os feature :) I noticed the notification that just pops up at the top of my screen. The usual stuff that users have reported.

Nice report... please keep us updated.... Slap an Android app, or two, on it and let us know how they are working...thanks...

Anyone else... firing up the TMob 10.2.1?

For all those just installing 10.2.1 welcome aboard the good ship BlackBerry...

If you notice your battery does not seem up to par (draining faster than normal)have no fear your phone has just had a major overhaul and is re indexing itself and putting everything in order. For some like myself it takes a long time (I have a 64 gb sd card on board my Z10) but once it's done it's done and you will be a happy camper.

One word of advice go ahead and get any must have apps that you need that are not available in BlackBerry World. But if there's a version in BlackBerry World stick with those, your battery will thank you...Native is Native after all and made for your BlackBerry.

Now have fun. I'm glad to hear that some of our friends to the south are getting 10.2.1 finally, hopefully the rest will follow soon.

Take care.

my android apps aint working.. like soundcloud and stuff.. i tried using to install new android APK's and its stuck on the processing window!! and i tried using any of the android apps that are stock with blackberry app world like Skype, Soundcloud and they are stuck on a black screen meaning they dont load at all .. tried unistalling them and stuff same issue !! hopefully im not alone in this!

Yes! Welcome back legacy feature.. I definitely missed that. )

Posted from my Q10 (TMobile) Running OS as of 2.14.2014!

Mine came in with 1.1GB. Couple hours later got a 85 MB update. Had a few problems with older programs, after update all is good.

It's a pain in the behind, but if you can stand it, I would suggest doing a security wipe and then installing the 10.2.1 clean.

I always do this and never have any of the issues other people seem to have after a big OS update (e.g.: all my Android apps run fine with 10.2.1).

These updates rolling out better are a much needed improvement. I have ATT Z10 and I can never wait for them haven't had a carrier released OS since first update after phone was released.

Come to Tmobile. With the ETF deal and awesome customer service as well as the network continuing to get better ( as in all the old 2g's are getting phased out.

Don't work for tmo. Been with them for years just based on there customer service.

Anthony...what's up?

This is great news. I was just talking to my local TMob store, yesterday, about leaving ATT and bringing my 3 BlackBerrys to TMob.

Once again, they have demonstrated that although their CEO is a bit of a loose cannon fruitcake - TMob is supporting BlackBerry better than most other US carriers and I, for one, will be going over to them.

CB10 from the Z30

ATT is now, officially, the least supportive of "BlackBerry Nation" and their rates are ridiculous vs. TMob.

CB10 from the Z30

Verizon had their issued, as do all US carries, but I have no issues with them. Thankfully I have a Z30 and love it.

This OS update thing has been beaten to death but it still sucks. Best of luck with T-Mobile!

Worse than Sprint? And it looked like T-Mo was laughing hard at BBRY so I'm not so convinced.

Sprint is the worst. They have only been selling the Q10 for around half a year. Not selling the Z10 or Z30.

Verizon has yet to deliver the 10.2.1 update for their Q10 or Z30 users.

AT&T hasn't delivered 10.2.1 to any of their users.

Bad news will come if Sprint's (div Softbank) owner Masayoshi Son full-fills his effort to combine TM with Sprint.
After seeing the ATT<>TM disaster, there is no way for US Federal regulators allow TM to become part of Sprint.
For sure, BB US network service will fall lower.

TMobile has been good. It's hard to complain about a cheaper plan this is NO contract, fastest 4GLTE (that I've compared to Verizon) and comes with 2.5 GB of mobile hotspot (any data is Unlimited from the device itself although I think after 10GB it's throttled down but you may want to confirm that with them).. ; )

Hey my friend I'm good to go :). It's funny that the same company that doesn't have best relationship with blackberry got the update first lol weird man....AT&T....Sprint.....Verizon Wireless....whats going on????

Wooooo! Got last night!

So will wifi calling be able to work with this update? That was the reason for the delay in the first place.

Posted via CB10

Works perfectly!

Posted via CB10 with my T-Mobile USA (Only T-Mo rep still pushing)  ‎BlackBerry Q10...SON! (Soon to be the almighty Z30!)

Exactly. Of course now, my phone won't stop letting me know that it will be making calls over wifi, it's incredibly annoying.

Is the sky falling down

Finally, is not even the right word to describe it

BlackBerry 10 - Built to keep you moving

Love 10.2.1, but they should have given it an Android style release name like... OS Mojo.

Posted via CB10

About f'in time. Paying customers shouldn't be subjected to delays on OS updates for a year cause of their stupid carrier. Good to see T-Mobile customers actually finally getting it though.

so true I've used this before and I will use it again:
it's just like a 5 star hotel give 1/2 service, feel sorry for you Americans with all phone updates other then iOS obviously.

I have to admit I LOL'd when I read this. TMob the first of the 4 majors to carry it, I guess we can stop calling them names for a day or so?

It's funny Adam has a z30 in the picture above however...

They are not the first to carry it. I've had it on my Verizon Z10 since it came out. Where Verizon messed up is that it wasn't (and to my knowledge still isn't) available on the Z30.

VZW Z10 Where I get down >> ASCENDANT Music Channel C000B8970

Verizon did not generally release it, stopped in the middle and many on Verizon still don't have it. Its generally been acknowledged that it was released "by mistake" by Verizon. I believe the Q's don't have it either. And it's not on the Z30 either as you say.

The "premature" release by Verizon was followed by an official release for the Z10 the following week. Before any other carrier, I believe.

The Q10? Oh, that may never happen! JK. But there is a lot of misinformation, generalization, conspiracy theorizing floating around regarding US carriers. Some would have you believe they're trying to destroy BlackBerry and perhaps even Canada.

Yeah Z10 was the ONLY phone verizon released that update for.. not the Q10.. I switched to TMobile.. Verizon is garbage in too many ways.. even if they have the most/best coverage..whatev.. lol : )

Posted from my Q10 (TMobile) Running OS as of 2.14.2014!

Maybe this is the update that WWBlonde got on Tuesday? Though she's on Verizon... Will be interesting to see version number.

This is I don't think that was the version number she pulled down? I think TMO gets their own versions because of WiFi calling.

Would be nice if they didn't tell customers that BlackBerry is bankrupt and they are discontinuing BlackBerrys.

Posted via CB10

I've been on 10.2.1 with T-mobile glad wi-fi calling is gonna work, I can also go back to using 4G LTE instead of just 4G! :D

Posted via CB10

Today I recived a New OS in my Z10, it is 10.2.1. 2102
Im in Panamá
But before I had a version , don't Remember,
I dont know what is changing
Someone know about it?

Posted via CB10

The was followed by only 2 digits. The update did go to••• but I have no idea what other difference there is. I got the update last week on Canada but I have no idea what it did

Posted via CB10

It was 2102 may be the security update that others were talking about - where Android apps were sometimes accessing the Work Space on BES.

Now T-MOBILE users will need to be brought up to speed to use their device so they can appreciate knowing the wait was worth it but not needed! Great to see...

Posted via CB10

If most are like me, then they've been watching review videos obsessively while waiting for this. I feel like I've already used it. I just can't wait to "actually" use it! :) :)

Me too. I installed the latest leak in January and it's been working great. 10.2.1 is awesome. Now I have to see if my phone will receive the T-MOBILE update.

Posted via CB10

About time, get the snap app and enjoy your android apps. You have to side load snap buy after that's it's just like getting an app from app world

Posted via CB10

Holy smokes. Happy for all those on T MOBILE. All Carriers should be on the same page. It makes discussions on CrackBerry seamless when we could all relate on the same issues.
This needs to be on Chen's number one list for all loyal BlackBerry users.

Posted via CB10

Did they specify which version exactly!? I'm on the leaked and wifi calling doesn't work. If they release the same version I would need a wipe and restore to get wifi calling to work??!?!

Posted via CB10

I'm in the same situation. If my phone doesn't get the update by tomorrow morning, then I'm going to wipe it and start from the beginning. I remember reading that official updates don't upgrade from leaked updates, but I could be wrong.

Posted via CB10

I have been on the leak the last couple of months, and I'm getting OTA as I type this. So, my guess is that you should be getting the T-Mobile update OTA. Hope you don't have to wipe and reload because all that's just an unnecessary hassle.

I updated from a leak about two versions old. Wifi calling is working after the update to the new OS. Just got a call and it sounded nice and clear, then gave me a message telling me I had made a Wifi call.

I would suggest wiping and then getting the official T-Mo update. They kept saying that it was the WiFi calling that was delaying them.

Wow, about time! Now if I wasn't at work so I'm not distracted by this update!

My cousin is bummed though.....AT&T are still slacking for him.

Posted via CB10

Yep.. Kinda expected it sometime this week. You know, if 2 cars arrive at an intersection who has the right of way? The bigger vehicle of course.

TMO put BB update on the back-burner until they got the new Apple OS released.

Nope, neck-and-neck race (to the bottom) between AT&T and Sprint. Verizon partially took themselves out of the race with their botched OS release last month for Z10 users (nothing for the Q10 or Z30 though).

Next. Att, Verizon, Sprint. How much longer of this BS testing.

This is not rocket science or Health care. Almost year of testing by carriers for OS???

Is the testing people run by mentally ill waste of life trolls? WTF is going on. This s*::y testing should be replaced by better management and workers.

Posted via CB10 AT&T needs to follow suit...but by this time most people have updated to one of the official leaks...I know my and my family have!

Posted via CB10

Wow. Last night I just downloaded 10.2 with Sachesi and lost all my passwords! I just called t-mobile too and they didn't think it coming out for a loooong time! Working great so far!!!

Posted via CB10

Question. I bought an unlocked Z30 out right for my Tmobile account. I know they don't even carry the Z30 so can I still run the upgrade or is that specifically for Z10 and Q10 users?

BlackBerry 4Life

Not sure but if it's unlocked you can remove the sim card and search for an update. It worked on my z10 but wifi calling doesn't work.

Posted via CB10

OK thanks. I have the version already installed and was wondering if I should even bother loading tmo's os on my phone. They don't even carry the Z30 but I guess it's still compatible???

BlackBerry 4Life

@ MBB...I got my Z30 unlocked from VZ and am running it on ATT which is the same type of network as you should be fine. I cannot have Visual Voice Mail and LTE is "spotty" but 4G is good enough. Good luck.

hahah i would be like that too after watching the forums playing with 10.2.1 for months and officially for a month

Fingers crossed we hear an announcement about the Verizon release soon! Congrats to those of you who can finally bask in the glory that is 10.2.1 !

Posted while peeking and flowing on my incredible BBQ10! 

What is the specific version? Just hope the number the release is larger than the one I have or I won't see it...

Good news but an absolute joke at the same time.
As a BlackBerry user, I'm glad I'm not in the usa.

Posted on CB10 with the Q10

it's 12 minutes after and nothing yet!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

ok sillyness over. back to waiting.

It's here! But no wifi at work!!! must find wifi!

I hear people are calling carriers to complain about lost productivity due to lack of OS Update compared to customers that received updates from different carrier.

Every month they call carriers and recieve $30 credit towards their bill. The supervisor do not want customers leaving to other carriers.

They should be giving us credit! The cost they charge just to use smartphone service is greedy high.

You gotta be kidding me... I finally broke down and installed the leak 4 days ago. oh well I welcome the wifi calling

Posted via CB10

Update already showing up for me - Q10 on T-Mobile in New York City.

I have leaked, it's going to update to - 451 MB

Posted via CB10

How about the users who have Sprint! I am still waiting for my Q10 to be up to date. I don't know if Blackberry or Sprint is dealing the process but someone has to step. And I wonder if I have to write a e-mail to the CEO of both Sprint and Blackberry because I want a very constructed Answer to what's with the deal. Or should I switch to T-moblie and forget Sprint?

Posted via CB10

I'm showing it now too..... so is this bassicly the same as just with wi-fi calling?

Posted via CB10

Another question- when you download an update OTA like this, does it keep all your apps and contacts as you have it? Or do you have to do a backup still first?

Posted via CB10

I would thank BB or T-mobile, but after the whole thing, I'm still salty about it, and it doesn't seem like either deserve praise.

It's on Link. I'm debating whether I should get it now or follow the advice I give to my sister in Canada and wait to see if there are any problems.

Posted via CB10

Anyone know if this is for all devices including z30? Also, will I get the update if I'm already running leaked

Posted via CB10

i was running the leak, still got the update. you won't get it on a z30 as tmobile doesn't support that device / they never sold it.

I asked that same question earlier. I bought an unlocked Z30 for my tmo account and installed a leaked os. I was wondering if this official will support the Z30 despite they don't even carry the Z30.

BlackBerry 4Life

No need to complain about the length of time to get the update. It's a process and Sievert was true to his word. Enjoy the update and let's see if that critical WiFi feature is now up and running! After all, that was the supposed delay. :-))

WiFi still out - for me. Now I'm prepping to decide between the 9900, Q10 & Z10. Sure wish they had the Z30.

C004635F8 - premium BlackBerry 10 wallpapers. Have a look I'm sure you will be glad you did :)

Was in a T-Mobile store today just for fun. Not a BlackBerry in sight.

Posted via CB10

I'm downloading it now to my Blackberry Z10. I was using a leaked version of
which ran great on T-Mo. Didn't have the Wi-Fi calling feature, but I hardly ever use it that way. I'm in Tucson, AZ for the download and it is 12 noon here.

Hey all what's the difference from this update and the update?? Is there any need to update. Any features added or is it just a US update. I am in nyc and BlackBerry Q10 is running great battery is a bit shot I get about 5 hours or so but just wondering should I update or not.
