If you are not satisfied with the native BlackBerry browser you may be interested to learn that Opera Mini has been been updated to version 7. The browser now offers a 'Smart Page' which gives you all your news from your Facebook and Twitter feeds which is a pretty nifty feature. As always Opera Mini crunches data so if you are on a data limited plan this may well be a great solution for you.
In addition, Opera released its State of the Mobile Web Report, which revealed that India has overtook Russia as the largest Opera Mini country, ranked by unique users per month. In less than a year, India has gone from being the third-largest country in the Opera Mini rankings to being number one, ahead of Russia and Indonesia. You can see the full report here.
Head on over m.opera.com from your BlackBerry browser to download.

I used Opera a lot during my Tour 9630 days. I have it on OS7 but rarely use it anymore.
Nice to see it updated.

It was nice on my Windows phone, but I am more than pleased with the BB browser on OS 7.1. Think I will give it a try to see how it performs.

+1!

Just added it when I found the native browser incapable of opening the UPS location map. If you don't have it, get it. You might find that some of the browser fails you attributed to the site, flash, etc. were just BBOS being BBOS.

RIM should have bought Opera - Facebook Zuckerberg announced the other day that they're buying it...
Opera browser is wicked fast!
(hey is this going to update via BB App World?)
mssca Jun 1, 2012 at 10:56 pm
This is not showing up in my App World either... I got a Berry Weather and Top Gear app update after refresh.

I had Opera on my old BB but I find the browser on OS7 to be pretty good. That said, I mite give it a whirl!!
guerllamo7 Jun 1, 2012 at 3:57 pm
Opera is the best browser for smartphones. Better according to HTML5test.com.
With the Playbook being the top tablet browser and with Opera giving the Bold 9900 the best browser I just can't agree with those that say OS7 is not competitive. I guess it is a question of what you compete on.
Anyway, the best browsers is not a bad place to be.
RIM is pretty awesome right now. Sure, I will get the BB10 device but I love my Bold 9900 right now.
TripNFry Jun 1, 2012 at 3:59 pm
Forget opera. they consider my BB 9900 to be a "Feature Phone"? I can't take THAT much Disrespect.
guerllamo7 Jun 1, 2012 at 4:09 pm
They just upgraded for BB I don't consider that disrespect. I would not deny myself the best Browser out there that does support BlackBerry.
jd914 Jun 1, 2012 at 6:23 pm
everyone considers all BB's feature phones which in fact they are. I don't see why thats disrespectful.
Rootbrian Jun 2, 2012 at 7:07 am
Go away.
They're smartphones, idiot.
gordongr Jun 2, 2012 at 7:19 am
That flew out in my face also when I read that
TJBB1 Jun 1, 2012 at 4:55 pm
I just installed it for 5 minutes and uninstalled it. BB 7.1 browser blows it away. I had to touch the address bar to enter a url and it was choppy not fluid like the BB browser. I'll stick with the BB browser.

I keep getting a COD 907 error while download , anyone know what is the cause?
mgnfcnt Jun 1, 2012 at 5:22 pm
Did you call in a UAV as instructed?
Rootbrian Jun 2, 2012 at 7:08 am
Keep trying until it succeeds.
abdul Jun 1, 2012 at 5:26 pm
BlackBerry browser is better.
WakyEggs Jun 1, 2012 at 5:38 pm
When I am in the subway opera mini is much faster than the normal browser on my 9780. I tried the new edition, not sure yet but performance seems to be a little less compared to edition 6.5 I had before. Still a nice browser!
masterscarhead1 Jun 1, 2012 at 5:41 pm
Explain to me why RIM would buy this when they have the best tablet browser out there, which is implemented into BB10?
bovcrx Jun 1, 2012 at 7:27 pm
Lightning fast
BBFTW88 Jun 1, 2012 at 7:51 pm
The update is a poor one... Pages take a lot longer to load, and now the native browser is a lot quicker.
If anyone has a link for OM 6, please post it
kraski Jun 1, 2012 at 8:18 pm
One little glitch, at least on my 9810 with lots installed. I tried just updating. And kept getting an error. I had to uninstall the old version, reboot, then install the new version to make it install correctly.
Costa84 Jun 1, 2012 at 10:36 pm
Wish they would give us the Mobile version, and not just the Mini one.
mssca Jun 1, 2012 at 11:02 pm
I don't know why everyone thinks that this browser is better because OperaMini sucks on some website. Specially websites that heavily depend on SQL databases. This browser can't even load the Grade table from school when at least WebKit native browser loads half way and pop an error message.
Rootbrian Jun 2, 2012 at 7:09 am
Only partial javascript is supported, that's why.
derrickps3 Jun 2, 2012 at 12:38 am
Wish it can be used on the playbook
Rootbrian Jun 2, 2012 at 7:10 am
You can access the android webkit browser via dual file manager. Just hit the link twice.
chaosdivine Jun 2, 2012 at 1:13 pm
I wonder how long it will take to get released via App World? That's one pet peeve of mine, releasing an update via their website but not in synchronization with BB App World...shows 6.5 release.
Go to m.opera.com and download/install it using the default BB browser.
I have been looking forward to this release for a while now. Love the fact that there are unlimited speed-dials. It's super fast on my 9810 too.
Searzy Jun 2, 2012 at 2:14 pm
It's available for Apple in the App Store...
crackburrie Jun 3, 2012 at 2:55 pm
I really hope facebook doesn't buy opera... I'd much rather have Opera remain independent or have RIM buy it instead of facebook.. The day facebook buys opera, that's the day I'm going to stop using it.
