So far so good. Installed like a dream, pretty intuitive navigation fast load times... Tested it out on the NY Times site, navigated to the Politics section and an ad for the BB Curve came up...thought that to be kind of funny (looking at the screen of my 8830).
Looking forward to testing out the synchronized bookmarking features.

Despite the fact that the Opera website claims that Opera Mini v4 will work on a Cingular/ATT Curve ---- when you attempt to download from their site via the device --- you receive an error that says: "Unfortunately Opera Mini 4 will not work on your phone".
http://www.operamini.com/download/wap/blackberry/blackberry_8300_curve/
I have been using an older version of Opera Mini and was looking forward to trying the new version.
Yes, my options are set correctly to access the site via Cingular in the US...

Love the initial feel of the new opera. Glad all my existing bookmarks rolled over.

Guys, I tried installing this on my Tmobile Curve and I get this message. It's followed by "Go to operamini.com/help with your desktop browser or contact your service provider for internet settings.
Any help?

I had the same problem when i tried downloading opera mini
to my 8320. I went to the opera mini website and found this, and it helped me out.
"A specific setting is required to enable Opera Mini to access the Internet on a T-Mobile Blackberry:
From your Blackberry homescreen, go to Options, then Advanced Options, then TCP. Under APN, enter "wap.voicestream.com". Leave Username and Password blank."

This doesn't work on my T-mobile BB curve. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks!

databug Nov 7, 2007 at 9:43 pm
I too get error Fail to connect to internet during install.
MrEastwood Nov 7, 2007 at 11:26 pm
I have a T-mobile BB Curve...go to "Options" then "Advanced options" then click "TCP" and where you see "APN" type "wap.voicestream.com" then save. It will be up and running after that.

This is my first time running the Opera web browser on my BB Curve, i must admit i was a little skeptical at first, but i am really starting to like this browser. It is very clean and has a fresh finish, looks a lot better than the default browser. This leaves me to ask this question though, will the browser for the v4.3.1 upgrade be anything like the Opera browser? Better or not much of a change at all?

Until giving this web browser a fair chance I was still having trouble deciding whether I was going to be content with the BlackBerry 8320 as my only phone. I choose for almost everything, but that almost still leaves room for my E61i (other line) to step in at times, for web browsing and VOIP as well as for Office documents. While the Opera Mini browser can't, of course, handle the VOIP or Office issues, it certainly leaves me no reason to grab for the E61i if I need to get online for a minute from the phone.
Very nice!

I really like Mini 4. I do a lot of stuff on eBay and it was a pain using the BB browser. Opera make my work much easier when I need to access eBay through my phone.

The images aren't as crisp as they were in v3. I'm using the 8800 with image loading set to HIGH. Images in the full view are a bit better than in mobile view, but still not as good as the "mobile" view in v3. This was the case while v4 was in beta - I had my hopes up that this would be resolved before going final, but so much for that. :(

go to the menu with the menu key on your bb and go to settings - change image quality from low to med or high, its defaulted at low
o personally dont like this version and sticking with 3.1
Images not as crisp as older Opera

I have just made an OTA of Opera on a BB8800 from Mobistar/Orange. I really like the slick, clean interface, web pages load quickly, the rendering is excellent, and I just love the ability to zoom into selected areas of a page to read text.
Is there a way to make Opera your default browser? ie. so that URL's in emails will open Opera and not the default Blackberry Browser.
I have been to Tools > Advanced Options > Browser though the only options seem to be to confirm the default browser configuration that's defined by the BES.
You have the correct APN setting but Opera still does not connect, checkout their Country/Carrier setup Wizzard

Like the improved features. Works very well with myspace compared to previous version.

I have this running on my AT&T 8310. Very nice change from the BB Browswer. It would be nice to be able to set this as the default browser ....
Anonymous Nov 10, 2007 at 10:01 am
just downloaded it to my AT&T BB7300. after only reviewing 4-5 web pages, i get error 533 stating that i have exceeded my allowed number of bytes per connection. What gives? is this an Opera setting problem? A BB7300 problem? or an ATT problem?

I went on http://mini.opera.com and it says:
Opera Mini 4
"Your phone model could not be detected"
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I was quite happy to find out about Opera and that a mini version was available for BB 8300. Having used it before, it was like meeting an old friend. Installed beautifully and works great!
