Official OS for the BlackBerry Curve 9360 now available from Alegro Ecuador

"Your blackberry is uptodate" is what I am getting. Want to do the update over my phone nd not using bb desktop, what can I do. Or may its availability depends with my carriier? Help please.

You'll need to use desktop manager or apploader, only AFTER downloading, installing and deleting both vendor.xml files.

I downloaded and installed this new OS package. below are my observations
1. battery life is better
2. browser speed is increased on 3G networks
3. native browser app shuts down unexpectedly more frequently than the initial 7.1 version
4. radio app is present and works better
5. the feel is better and fluid like.
6. no hangings like the version

am using bb curve 9360, network carrier is Globacom.
if u are to install this on unsupported carrier, please remeber to delete the vendor.xml file from common files folder.
To upgrade ur bb, follow these steps
1. download the OS version and install it on your computer
2. delete the vendor.xml file from C:/program files/common files/Research in motion/App Loader
3. Launch Blackberry desktop manager
4. Connect your bb to it. it should detect the new upgrade and ask if you want to upgrade
5. click upgrade ( its an offline upgrade)
6. After 40 minutes, ur bb will be upgraded. please do not disconnect while this is going on, it might render your bb useless

Note: if your already installed version of 7.1 on your bb is higher than this version then u will not be upgrading but downgrading

hope this helps someone

I have the Blackberry Curve 9360 from Vodafone India. I want to update the OS from 7.0 to version 7.1 .
I download the official Vodafone India version of the OS 7.1 n installed it. After that I delete "vendor" file as mention earlier.
Then I started the Blackberry Desktop Software, went to Device --> Update .
I selected the recommended "7.1 Bundle 1647" and Start to update.
Up to this everything goes well, but at 2nd step (connecting to boot ROM), device gets disconnected and It came back with error message.
So what should I do now? I really want to upgrade my phone to 7.1 OS.

Really again a great phone by BB Curve. I like the its special offer to the post paid BB users. It is available at lowest price (Rs. 17,490/- after 8% off). I am willing to buy it.
