it sure looks like the holidays....even software updates are being rolled out one after the other...any official 7.1's yet?
mssca Dec 9, 2011 at 10:20 am
+1
Yes, it should be out by now because most people thought that OS 7.1 will be out before the end of 2011.
doug1010 Dec 9, 2011 at 10:39 am
Hmm... Leaked OSs are directly from RIM? So I guess they'd have no tracking/monitoring software. Wonder if Vodafone does.
rais.aslam Dec 9, 2011 at 12:29 pm
It from Celcom Malaysia. Still under testing by celcom. Should roll out by the end of this month by carriers testing this OS (7.1). :)

what does this new update bring.
robsteve Dec 9, 2011 at 10:48 am
Looks to be a bigger file than the leak if the 245 mb shown in the image above is correct. The leak was 239mb.
Downloading it now to see if there is any difference in the file.

I know its a long shot but any 9930 Verizon love coming?
joehack Dec 9, 2011 at 1:26 pm
Who is Verizon?
ChicoBike Dec 9, 2011 at 2:17 pm
I'm there with you. Been waiting what seems like months for a leak of any sort for the 9930.
I'll take any carrier's- just something for the 9930 would be nice
Brisco88 Dec 9, 2011 at 10:58 am
Nice ! Can't wait to try it. Hope the battery life is better !
gees97 Dec 9, 2011 at 11:18 am
Hmmm everytime I buy a verizon blackberry I end up waiting forever for a leaked OS or official. That's what you call official bullshit

I have my first cell phone - 9900 and I love it - and I am wondering: do I need to wait for the upgrade to be provided by my carear - bell canada - or can I downloaded from somewhere else? There are some bugs with the current version that I hope would be fixed now.
sharkfab Dec 9, 2011 at 3:54 pm
Waiting for support from your carrier might prove to be quite long. Updating your firmware from the updates found here has been a complete success for me and all the BBs I support in our company.
Hope this helps!

gordonzhao Dec 9, 2011 at 3:20 pm

download file direct from voda's website for the 9860 is corrupt - now dl 3 times and every time throws a setup initialisation error????? :(
SoSherdy Dec 9, 2011 at 10:03 pm
Yes. There seems to be something wrong with the update file for the 9860. Anyone found an alternative operator to download the latest update?
Apothegm Dec 10, 2011 at 11:03 pm
.540 gives me three days on the standard battery. Unless a new OS can beat that, no way I am switching. Ever.
Someone would still have to be a pretty fast talker to convince me to "upgrade".
Oh, and, guys who let their BlackBerry phones sit on chargers overnight, your opinions regarding battery life are of no value...Still. You are not supposed to do that and your battery life will suck no matter what OS you use.

Really need help here.. At a lost what to do?
I downloaded 585 and all was well with downloading and installation. There was no error message as I checked for any vendor file but there was none as I had deleted them for the 474 installation. But when i opened my DM, nothing happened? it was still in my old bundle.
Can anyone advise me what i can do. I even had it uninstall and re-install but still the same. I also tried deleting my DM and re-install but same thing. I can see the new bundle installed in my computer but my DM still shows the old bundle and so is my device.
Please help..

How can I select 2g mode only? When I update my bb9900 2g only disappears!! I can only choose between 2g&3g or 3g only. How can I make it appear in newer versions???
Thank you in advance
ryan_sarchan Dec 11, 2011 at 7:51 pm
OS for 9860 still corrupt until now?
cyprusfire Dec 11, 2011 at 9:35 pm
Hey everyone,
FYI the 585 update absolutely stinks!!!! I have tried the leaked version and this official version; both are done as a fresh install using the JL_CMDER to wipe the OS and then used the App loader to install the new OS. I would of course, delete the vendor xml file and then use the app loader.
I found that the battery life would barely give me a day with or without the battery saver installed and running in the background. I would use it for music only for the most part. Basically, my trip to work and then at the gym so a total of about 3hrs of music played. I would turn my phone off at work because I have no signal where I work. Also, I would use the holster while at the gym, but when I would take the phone out, I wouldn't be able to turn the volume up or down or even skip songs. I even had a random reboot....wtf??/
I also found the phone to be terrible at multitasking with this build. If I play music, run twitter, and then open a link in twitter to a webpage, the phone would freeze up on me. My only problem with .540 is the fact that I had the "dying in sleep" problem in which the phone would need to be rebooted if I plug the charger in. It would think that I'm plugged into an underpowered USB port, but in reality, I'm using the wall charger.....lol
So far the best build for me has been the .503 because I easily get a full day of heavy use, don't have to worry about rebooting when I want to charger my phone, no random freezing, no problems with the music player's skip/volume/mute key functions, and last but not least, no choppiness in using the OS
Hope this helps some of you out there!!!

barchstein Dec 13, 2011 at 1:37 am
Dear all,
I'm not certain if it was noted but this nice piece of software unbricks the 9900 that had only a blackscreen and a red light as main feature after a couple of weeks of use. (or at least it fixed mine that had the problem...) imagine the party in my head when i discovered that...
