Can I ever flash a Rogers OS onto an unlocked Torch using Telus network?
I can't seem to find a Asia OS pack for Telus.
Thanks

Why not just use 6.0.0.480 (already out for 9780)

I just checked on my Torch (Unlocked with Telus) and there was an update for 6.0.0.448 available yesterday (March 19th)

I did the update of BB Desktop manager. I have found a couple of minor changes so far. When you hit 20% battery life you get a yellow bar, turning to red with you hit 10%....

I'm happy to hear about another official release for the 9700. I'll download it on my phone and post my thoughts on the build tonight.

Does AT&T ever release an OS update ? Hello...AT&T. hello you there ? lol Just a question for someone with some experience with AT&T since I have only been with them for less than a year.

Posted by pjmacklin Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

not to defend them but, yes, they released .246. keep in mind, few telecoms have been out there in terms of releasing new os's to their subscribers.

Posted by Connor83 Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

But they still lack OS6 for the 9700

ehn my torch is happily running .450 so i'll pass...as usual rogers is always late

Posted by luqman24 Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

+1 im very happy with .450 and will stay with it. Its way better than .448 IMO. Perhaps these carriers should read the reviews posted by the Crackberry members here and release it much faster...

.461 just came out, download that instead

6.0.0.499 on my 9700 - works fantastic.

Posted by XWolf Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

.461 seems best for me. Better battery life and more stable BIS than .499. Definately better than .448.

I would avoid this on the 9700 if you use a lot of apps. When I loaded this on my Telus 9700, I started with 30 or so MB of app memory and with in an hour or so was down to under 15. The 9700 does not really have enough memory to handle the extra 50 odd MB of OS overhead.

Posted by XWolf Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

.461 left me with 74mb...

Posted by tayor618 Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

Come on just give us 8520 users os 6 or at least give us a simplified version of it

Posted by dbowe4415 Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

I'm so slow lol, I totally forgot that version of OS 6 I'm running is .461, so I have no need to downgrade to .448.

Posted by heynik88 Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

Quick take, I've had this version for just over three days, upgraded from 5 (979) to 6 (448):

still a bit of a memory leak (I just battery pull before going to bed, it lasts through the day with no real issues), facebook scrolling is a bit weird, BBM cursor is gone (but if you hit shift it comes back), Twitter links open in the default browser (no option to open in Opera, so you often get the full site instead of mobile site), default browser occasionally shows that "not enough memory to load page" error, and the volume buttons don't work unless locked.

but i love the os 6 browser, it's taken some getting used to navigating with all the panes... but overall I like it. If they could just fix the memory leak, facebook scrolling, and media buttons this would be totally awesome. think I'm going to shrink 6 (448) with BBBoss this weekend, let's see if that makes a difference

why would rogers only release os6 for the bold and torch... how about the pearl 3G 9100 and the curve 3G 9300.. doesnt make sence

Telus Mobility released OS 6.0.0.461 for Curve 9300

Good update! Everything is running smoothly, and is more responsive than before. I feel that the font has had some slight changes and the icons have gota a bit bigger. Appearance wise is nice and the double flicks are more smooth now. The dwn side is that multitasking feels slower now. When I have my twitter/fb/music on, the BB tends to slow dwn :/ follow me on twitter btw @heavenkaykay thanks :D

Posted by heaven1794 Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

To continue with that i have seen changes with the browser. The layout is different, but a good different. Nd it seems sumwhat faster.

Posted by heaven1794 Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

The battery logo is also different when the battery is low.

been waiting ages for this...although this has been leaked for a while now its always easier when DM tells u you have an update. in light of all the "bugs" hopefully us rogers customers will see more os's rolling for our device... "flawless" if possible

Posted by Villain79 Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

the 9300 is as well for rogers

Posted by theKHMERboy Wednesday, Mar 16, 2011 436 days ago

really thats not fair... what about the pearl 3g ppl... i dont get Rogers... if they gonna release the os6 for blackberrys why not just release it for all the blackberry phones and not just some... doesnt make sence

Posted by vulfadli Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011 436 days ago

I kinda have a stock 6.0.0.285 on my 9780. Any Bold 3 users out there tested this? Or is there a better more stable version of leak/official release?

I would not advise to update the 9700 or 9300 to the 6.0 os because of the file side and the memory of the 9700 and 9300 both have a memory space of 256mb

where as the 9780 and 9800 both have 512 mb of memory

the 6.0 os on the 9700 and 9300 can make the ringer not work , also you may not be able to sync, or have the apps that you had on it with the 5.0 os

rim needs to make the file size for the os smaller for those devices

Posted by kofoe Thursday, Mar 17, 2011 435 days ago

what about if we shrink the new os?
will that make any difference?
because i strongly agree with you, 9700;s memory of 256MB cannot handle 170MB os....

I have a .461/499 hybrid that when shrunk was reduced to 65mb. I currently have a steady 85mb of free space with the following applications installed:

Poynt
Youtube
TD CanadaTrust
Scoremobile
Weathereye
Urbanspoon
Groupon
Google Maps
Vlingo
Bloomberg

I shrunk out a lot of stuff but still have every utility application that I remember ever being on my phone.

I feel like an idiot. I have had Blackberries for years and have always downloaded update versions, installed them and then BDM installs them on my device. But the combination of my Torch, BDM 6.01 and the file listed about for Rogers just doesn't work. The update installs (Win7 shows it installed on the Programs list), but then loading BDM with the Torch connected doesn't trigger the update as my Bold 9000 did. Also when I tell it to look for device updates it does not work either. Is this a new way to do this?

Happy with .450 .. Thanks!! Whats up with the apparent drought of Torch OS leaks...

Posted by romauldian Wednesday, Mar 16, 2011 435 days ago

I want it so badly ... I'm using 9800/6.0.0.337 and I'm having trouble updating it via bb...

installed yesterday...running a bit slower than 5.xx.xx....but the visual upgrade is worth the lag i guess....i like it...

Posted by theKHMERboy Thursday, Mar 17, 2011 434 days ago

does anyone know if there is an official release from rogers for blackberry pearl 9100?

Posted by nelz16 Thursday, Mar 17, 2011 434 days ago

I put 448 on my Rogers Torch last night and all i've noticed is that the icon for charging is different and I had to uninstall/reinstall Twitter, FB and Google maps so far, who know's what else i'll have to set up... Battery may last a bit longer? Can't say for certain though. And the icon's seem sharper on the display menu's. Also there are tiles for bookmarks in the browser... It's an okay upgrade but reinstalling programs is pretty annoying.

anyone know if there is still a memory leak with this one?

can any 1 tell me wer 2 get it plz

Can we just jump to 6.1 leakes please? lol

Posted by heaven1794 Sunday, Mar 20, 2011 432 days ago

Everything seems to be better and smooth but multitasking seems to be almost imposible with this update! I can't even listen to music and use twitter without a lag. Restarts r required more thab before. This is rediculus becuz I purchased the Torch for the fact of multitasking.

I upgraded my Bold 9700 yesterday to OS6 and now I hate the theme - there's only ONE! and it doesn't let me see my calendar on my screen throughout the day like OS5 did. Does anyone know where to find a them that will show my calendar back on my home screen at all times????
