Rogers and Telus are getting things done and have officially released OS 6.0.0.246 for the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Now anyone on AT&T still rocking the stock OS can upgrade and any Canadian users have something new to play around with. Reports are somewhat mixed on this one with some people loving the OS and others not, so if you're up for it give it a go and leave a comment with your findings. Download links from both Rogers and Telus below. As always, use caution when upgrading your device.

Seriously? First - the "leak" is an official release; second it's an update for a released phone that already has it. Sooo... .what's the possible connection to 9700 again? (I'm also impatiently waiting to update my wife's 9700 so that I can play with it...)
How is a friggin Iphone 3G still relevant after almost 3 years and my storm 2 is being treated like its obsolete. Beware Torch owners...this too can happen to you lol
The reason the 3G is still relevant for OS releases is because apple is releasing to the lowest common denominator for coding. That would be the equivalent of the Torch releasing with an updated OS 5 instead of OS6. At some point they have to make a clean break in code to move to 6, and if the hardware doesn't support it, you're SOL. I went to a Torch from a 9000. I understood the fact that 128MB of ram isn't going to run a legit OS6 release, period. As far as OS updates for the S2, you just got a leak for 5.0.0.973 the other day:

you are hardly being ignored, and there is no reason to assume you wouldn't get an OS6 on the S2 eventually since it's got the same 256MB as the 9700, and the 528Mhz processor instead of the 624 on the 9700 shouldn't make that much of a difference

Guys, this isn't a leak.. first of all it's an official release. Secondly its for the ONLY OFFICAL OS 6 phone. Thirdly, this is what came preinstalled on my Torch anyway, so no real news.

Is this just an official release or am I to assume there are changes in this OS from the previous leaks? I'm currently running the leaked .214 and I'm wondering if I should get this or not.
You can upgrade but there's really not that much difference between .214 and .246. This is also the EXACT same thing as the previously leaked .246, so if you already have that there's no point in downloading this (except for maybe possible extra languages).
(mine on virgin not rogers) but i dont understand the use of this, they ship with .246 why is it now availabe?

Absolutely pointless to sit around and wait for AT&T to release an OS when this one is perfectly fine, actually leaps and bounds better than the official AT&T .141. You'd be a fool NOT to update to this.
6.0.0.246 is great! I had an AT&T one unlocked, and I noticed a big difference when I got my Virgin one, which has .246 preloaded on it. I find it a bit faster.
As for Telus vs. Rogers version... Rogers is evil so go with Telus, they're not as evil.
Downloading... In case I encounter a Torch. but RIM what happened to showing 9700 users some love?? WE ARE GETTING VERY IMPATIENT. Its been two months plus since the first OS 6 vid was shown... and it was on a 9700... SMH
this is great news for 9800 users...what about the 9700 users? you know what...forget it. i give up. it's never going to come out. they've shown so many videos and there isn't even a bloody leak for it. sigh, i'm guessing it won't come out but the 9700 refresh will get it. how lame is that? being promised something only to find out you're not going to get it. i say this even though i know of the list of previous blackberry devices supposedly getting OS6. can't be bothered anymore.

I told my daughter just the other day, that when a new version of OS6 is finally released to fix the debaucle debut of .141 OS6, AT&T wouldn't put it up! It would be another company first, and YET, it was AT&T that developed the Torch with RIM. Why didn't AT&T put out any update yet to their original bomb of an OS?

It appears that jAsia has taken over jAllLang and jEastAsia with the introduction of OS 6 for Torch 9800 and the other BlackBerry devices.
I loved my 9700 but stopped waiting and bought a Torch
i just got the 9800
they know that alot of people own the 9700 and are dying for os6.... they just want everyone to crack and buy the 9800.. once they sell a kagillion torch's they will release os6 to the masses....
on telus build, changing voice mail is ok or not, i went to phone, hit berry button scroll to options and nothing happed no box for me change my default voice mail number.
Just got an email this morning. I am downloading and doing the update. Hope it fixes the WiFi bug!

Chinese font still not there!
where did you get it?
I have downloaded AT&T, Rogers & Telus multilanguages, plus east asian font supports. And all don't work! Deleted vendor file, execute loader, but all Chinese Font are in 0 bytes and just can't click!
Where could go wrong? My version is updated but all font support gone!!! Anyone can help?
