CrackBerry Rogers Logo

Over the last few weeks we've seen the same OS pop up on various carriers for various devices, and today Rogers has officially released OS 5.0.0.822 for the BlackBerry Curve 8520 as well. This is the first official 5.0 release from Rogers for this device, so if you're still hanging on to that old 4.6 you should definitely check this out. Reports are that it is a pretty solid OS and will keep you're Curve running at its best. Rogers users can head to http://na.blackberry.com/eng/update to update.

When is Rogers going to release an OS for the 8900 above 4.6?

joandrade

Why is it so important that a carrier actually releases an OS version? Couldn't you just install a 822 version released weeks ago?
Also, typo on the second-to-last sentence ("your").

They don't sell the 8900 anymore, so I'm guessing that we won't officially get 5.0 on our beloved 8900's from Robbers, err Rogers.

Time to get some other carrier's version of it I guess.

My gf got email on her 8520 yesterday morn about update being available for it, she's with Rogers n it brought us to that RIM site it shows in Adam's blog. N the software list on Rogers BlackBerry page still shows 4.6 as well

normand636

I tried to download the update. it says could take up to an hour or more. i had mine plugged in for 3 hours and it hung at packet 506 of 631. didnt move.

any ideas?

I've been waiting for Rogers to run this OS for the 8520 and so far it's been working like a charm. Quite a few glitches and misplaced items here and there but nothing major. And it is now posted in the Rogers Wireless Inc. Software downloads as 5.0.0.822 so check it out.

Do NOT download. Pure Garbage. I updated my girlfreind and her sister curve 8520 to the .822 os and i changed it back to the 4.6 right away. Major glitch with the sound. You lose your sound for everything and the only way to get it back is to do the battery pull and it only last a few hours. BB and Rogers need to fix soon or they are going to have alot of people pissed

I've seen several tech articles saying that Rogers now has this OS for the Curve, and to go to whatever link to get it.
Under Rogers on the RIM site the OS5 is listed but when i try to dL it, i get an error message telling me that "it is currently not available in my country".

The Rogers website (https://your.rogers.com/web_auth/techsupport.asp) listes the OS 4.

I even talked to Rogers Tech Support (live chat - don't ever do it) and they told me that Rogers currently does not support the OS 5 for BB 8520.

So seriously, wtf is going on?

M_rk

so i guess the .681 is still the best, most reliable on the 5.0 platform for 8520

dkbg23

Does Rogers offer the .681? I've only seen the .822
