Hey, a little bit of confusion circulating with this one. So here's the story. Indosat posted OS 5.0.0.741 official for the BlackBerry Storm 2 9520 but, mistakenly stuck it under the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 slot on their website. This link, indeed leads to the install for the 9520. That said, if you want to get your official goodness on you now can. Just visit the Indosat BlackBerry download page and look under the 9550 section. No doubt someone will adjust this over time but for now, that's where it is.

Damn! Again with no-drm. Nice for Hybrid-makers though.

The picture there says 9550 but the headline is for the 9520? Which storm is this update for? Or does it matter?

This IS 9520 software, but at the IndoSat BIS site, you must choose the 9550 model. You will get the correct 9520 software.
I imagine IndoSat/RIM will fix this eventually.

Ok, I tried downloading it via the link to my desktop Manager, but after the download...it still didn't show any updates for my 9520.
Does anyone know exactly how to go about this download, or should I just wait till the updated version is available on my device through the option menu and then checking for available updates, or maybe checking for updates through the desktop manager.
I seriously need this updated version, cos my 9520 has been freezing recently (sometimes I wanna smash the phone!)
Any ideas?...

you might want to read this first:
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-how-install-or-upgrade-new-rim-blac...
If you still have problems with upgrading. Make a post on the forum.
Oh, almost forgot! If you have a DRM coded 9520 - most Vodafone branded 9520s are DRM coded - then this OS will not load on your phone, since it is a No-DRM version.

Thanks for the Info, but I did exactly the same thing as instructed on the article.
I bought my unlocked phone from ebay in UK, so is there any chance that my device could be DRM coded? and if so...how do I go about downloading the new OS?

I'm looking for a os release for my 9520, I'm now using the 5.0.0.1077. Question for someone who has tried it: does it works good?

yes, ive been using it for over 8months...
long boot times but very very stable and minimum memory leaks.
just nuked my storm2 tinkering with bbhtools... intalling fresh os now.
