Why does nobody here know the correct spelling you 'you'...? Doesn't exactly reflect very well on us GSM users.

* download and install the setup file
* when it loads up the desktop manager, be sure to delete the vendor.xml (in vista my location was C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader )
* backup your data on the phone
* turn off the internet
* go to application loader
* click start on update software, then just follow the wizard

version 5.0.0.411 was the last one with key lock.. Anyone know why? What do u guys use when using the holster without the lock?

Posted by baziz24 Wednesday, May 26, 2010 729 days ago

this is interesting, there is no icon for locking but instead my shortcut key for locking still works. it was set to holding down A to lock. and that still works.

for those interested the update worked perfect on my at&t 8520 in usa

I just upgraded my 8520 (I have T-Mobile), and I love it. I downloaded the new OS from the blackberry website via the link at the top of this page. Instead of it starting my Desktop Manager for me, I went into C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/AppLoader and deleted the vendor.xml file as directed. I then had to install the new OS directly from this location via the loader.exe file. For some reason, when I went into the Desktop Manager after deleting the vendor.xml file, it allowed me to select the new 5.0 OS but when I clicked next it said I had no upgrades to make. I googled the problem and found the answer here. http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/OS-5-f... This directed me to install it via the loader.exe file and it work great.

It does a backup for you during the process, but I did mine before I did any downloads.

I have installed the OS and deleted the vendor.xml, but when I run the loader.exe, it still does nothing to upgrade my OS to the new one.

It only said "no actions are required"

Any advices ?? I'm desperate..
thanks
