Having just leaked the other day, OS 5.0.0.509 has just gone official for both the BlackBerry Curve 8520, 8900 and the BlackBerry Bold 9000. You can grab both via the WIND Hellas BlackBerry download page and get started on your upgrade if you passed over the leaked versions. If you are looking to see what changes came with the OS, you can find a list in the CrackBerry forums compiled from users.

i downloaded the official v 5.0.0.484 that Sprint released...working like a charm. RIM's releases arent carrier specific...just make sure the release is for the Blackberry you have and voila!

Still waiting for the 8350i 5.0 OS to drop ... where is it ??? come out, come out from where ever you are !!!
The reason it may have been pulled is that Bluetooth is not working properly with the media player on .509. They need to correct this. I put it on my 9000 and not just me, but several others who play music with media player and bluetooth were having a problem. So sit tight. They are the closest to putting out a 5.0 for the Bold 9000 with this version than ever. :)

I too have been waiting to see if rogers would release an official OS 5.0... hopefully it would come soon! but then again.. who knows...
Updates on Rogers take forever. I agree that (looking back) I would chose another carrier besides Rogers. Bell is looking good now, but I wish we had more choice.
Can somebody please confirm this version for the Bold 9000 has Arabic typing support?

Insman1, I had the same question, never heard of the company. You can definitely download it for ATT. I did about an hour ago. Everything's smooth. Works great :)
I downloaded this file, and it installs the: "Blackberry Device Software v.5.0.0 for the Blackberry 8520 smartphone" per the .msi file as well as per CCleaner.
But the $25,000 dollar question is - where does it install it to?
I don't know what to do next? In the Desktop Manager it still says 4.6.1 is the latest/greatest OS and that the install of the .msi did nothing to show that 5.0 was now available to put on the phone. How do I get this on the actual phone?

After you run the set up wizard. Open BB Desktop Manager and plug in the BB. Then go to your C-drive > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion > App Loader and delete the xml.vendor file. After that at the top of the list there should a app loader file. Double click that and it should load up. Select the features/applications you want to load on it and go. Hope this helps.
