Official OS 5.0.0.419 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 from SaskTel

*Update: Telus has jumped in on the fun too - we just got word that they have also officially released 5.0.0.419 for the Tour 9630. You can grab it from this link. *

It looks like SaskTel is the latest to drop an official 5.0 for the Tour 9630. The guys at BerryScoop found this one, and 5.0.0.419 seems to be the way to go as its starting to pop up as an official release from multiple carriers. If you've been holding off on the update, this release seems to be reliable thus far. Still no word from Verizon, so if you're growing tired of waiting you may want to just give this a go to tide you over.

Finally a Canadian provider drops an official Tour OS 5!

Any input if it varies from the .419 leak or MTS builds?

It is IDENTICAL to the .419 leak. .419 is .419. I've been running it for 2 weeks and it is awesome. Threaded SMS is a wonderful thing. Only glitch I've had is Facebook app freezes. Just hit the back button and reopen and it's fine.

False. The guys over at BB Hybrids have torn it apart after noticing battery life is better as well as radio with the Carrier Official 419's over the leak. They have found the radio file is different. The official is using a better radio file than the leak which is also has more bugs. I loaded the MTS Mobility 419 2 days ago and battery and radio are better, and also FB is solid too.

@Wolfstar: I call BS on that claim. I compared the SHA1 hashes of the radio file from leak vs the hash of the official, and they are identical. Do you have a link to back that up?

If I download this OS and it fries my phone, does that void the warranty? And can someone tell me what's the big difference between OS 4.7 and OS 5?

I wouldn't go walking into your carrier's store with 5.0 running and ask for help. I would downgrade back to 4.7 if you need to take it in. It could, but it's so easy to downgrade.

Worst case scenerio is you brick it and have to start install over. This is not likely.
There are too many differences to take time to explain them all. Threaded sms text is awesome after you get used to it. (I didn't like it at 1st) much faster boot time, OS is much faster and runs smoother. Simple fact is, it's coming, do it now or do it later. It may drop from Verizon tomorrow, Big Wendsday.

My phone has been lagging lately and I'm not sure why (no new apps to make this happen), so I imagine it's the OS for some reason. I MAY try to upgrade the OS, but which is the best site for it? I know Telus is not the first site to leak the 5.0 OS.

if you look at the info that comes with the package before downloading it, you'll see its .419 under applications

I cant believe that Telus actually released .419 too.
This kinda explains how i was finally able to load this os onto my phone, when previously none of the leaks would work! lol
Im still considering trying a hybrid just to see if I can improve even more...

I've had the .419 leak on my Sprint Tour since it was first released...everything is running effortlessly..my only qualm lies within the fact that every picture in my gallery comes out grainy and pixelated whenever i enlarge them. When i take a pic, the resolution is clear as usual but i soon as i save the pic to the phone and go back to check it...grainy :(

Is this just me or anyone else experiencing this? Will an official release fix this lol..i like my pics..cant stand them looking grainy

Any tips/advice are welcomed

that would actually allow you to activate Japanese input I'd be happy. I can install the files required for it but I just can't invoke it from the device. Before anyone assumes that this must be like installing any other input language, it's not. There are several threads on this issue on BlackberryOS.com and the official forum on Blackberry.com.

I down loaded it and it looks nice, however i no longer have the wireless update option nor does my gps work. I'm going to have to downgrade & wait til it's fixed.

I honestly don't see how this is an official release. I have been running the leaked version since leaked and this is not official worthy. While this is better than the .230 leak .419 has some screen lag issues where the screen will stay black for a few seconds before coming back on. Also the reception goes in and out. I'm kind of glad verizon is waiting on something better.

I am with Verizon. I installed the SaskTel upgrade to my pc. I deleted the vendor file and when I use the loader no upgrades comes up. Any suggestions?

Did you run the Loader.exe in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader or did you use App Loader from the Blackberry Desktop Manager? If you didn't try running Loader.exe in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader then try it.

It shows that 5.0 is installing and takes me through the whole process an everything but then when i turn the phone on again, it's still in 4.7 mode it never changes?? and i can't get that app loader file to come up when it is running so how do you get that option??

Followed all the instructions and got it all up and going on my phone and low and behold I had no contact list, no apps, no themes....NOTHING except for the new OS and quite frankly if this is what is going to happen when the 5.0 OS for Verizon comes out then forget it I'm not jumping on this bandwagon. Upgrading to a newer OS shouldn't mean losing EVERYTHING on your phone. If this is how it's gonna be with Blackberry then I might consider going with the DROID ERIS. Don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE my Blackberry but I also want a newer OS but with all my crap that I have on there now! UGH VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Did you think to actually make a backup? I have switched between .419 and multiple hybrids and backup the data, load and restore the backup info and I have my contacts, apps and all my themes..

I did a back up and after finding out all my stuff was gone I restored my latest back up and got all my contacts back, some apps and of course no themes but I did have the 5.0 OS. I never do anything to my BB without a back up first!

You never upgrade to a new OS without backing up with desktop manager first. Then you restore, and you have lost nothing.

I called in to Verizon's customer service and received their usual bullshit service. As the rep pulled up my acct info he casually asked me how my Tour was treating me. I said "actually the internet has been totally lagging man I sure wish you guys would release 5.0 already" His response: "It just got released today"

I was totally stoked at first but I checked here and I was like this is a little sketch cause I didn't see a post about the official os release for verizon. I checked their site and didn't find anything. I call them again and the 2nd rep after keeping me on hold for over 5 minutes confirms that the 1st rep was incorrect and not sure why he said that.

WTF Verizon when are you going to be worth the amount of $ I pay you bastards monthly?

I've been holding off, patiently waiting for Verizon to release the gold version of OS 5; that didn't happen so I downloaded this official release.

After booting into XP, and following a couple of forum guides, I almost gave up completely until I remembered reading about using app loader instead of the desktop manager. Success! I've got everything running just the way it was before the upgrade.

My phone does seem to boot a little faster, and the transitions on a couple of my themes are pleasing to the eyes. We'll see about battery life today.

The only thing I wish RIM would do is create a Linux version of their installer. I loathe having to boot into Windows just to get this done. I'm quite sure it could be done easily.

Anyway, Crackberry, thanks for the post and the information you make so readily available.

So after my experience of switching to this OS and finding all my stuff gone I figured I'd just restore my stuff and after I did that all my stuff was there with the new OS. So yeah I ALWAYS do a back up before doing anything with my phone. I read that in the very beginning of owning a BB and I've always done it!

I download the 5.0 version, and then delete vendor file, and launch app loader and the new version does not appear as an option to upgrade. I have verizon and using vista. It pops a window saying "this application is not compatible with your device an cannot be loaded".... CAN ANYONE HELP? please.

I'm on verizon and downloaded and installed .419. I've been running .230 with no problems but when the install was done it wouldn't connect with 3G and none of my data stuff would work. Enterprise, Browser, etc. Anyone else have any problems with this or know what I could do to fix it? On initial start up I tell it to automatically select CDMA or GSM. Any thoughts?
