I saw Sprint and got excited.
#OS 6.0 is still lame on the 9650. D:
Culex316 Dec 14, 2010 at 12:16 pm
It's not lame by any means, we just need higher builds to see if it improves overall performance.
Deathcommand Dec 14, 2010 at 1:41 pm
Haha, sorry,
I was pressed on time and couldn't think about more to say.

Uhh this is yesterday's news
mustangboy88 Dec 14, 2010 at 12:40 pm
Yep, I think CB needs to follow BBleaks on Twitter.
themenacexd Dec 14, 2010 at 2:41 pm
Just because you don't have a Tour anymore doesn't mean that the rest of the world decided to upgrade. I personally have a Bold 9700 and do not plan on upgrading to the 9780 just because my 9700 is "old news" now. So I'm happy for you Tour users since you're still getting updates...
scuebydue Dec 14, 2010 at 2:53 pm
I agree. I'm not a fan of OS 6 after playing around on it. And I don't feel it worth going from 9630 to 9650 or 9700 to 9780 or one curve to another. Too little changes, not enough Umph!
i2ollingstone Dec 14, 2010 at 6:12 pm
He meant yesterdays news as in bbleaks literally reported on it yesterday- not that he is too good to hold onto a Tour. I got a 9650 as a warranty replacement for a tour. If not for that I'd still have a tour as well. That upgrade isn't worth paying for.
ymicorazon Dec 14, 2010 at 12:49 pm
I had a tour and os6 sucks! isnt like touchscreen devices.........
Deathcommand Dec 14, 2010 at 1:41 pm
I wonder when tour had OS 6.0..
scuebydue Dec 14, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Was thinking the same thing ;)
davidwipf Dec 14, 2010 at 3:47 pm
Huh? Tour supports OS6???????
duckmn56 Dec 14, 2010 at 3:53 pm
WOW os 5 on a tour.....Does anyone still use a tour??
scuebydue Dec 14, 2010 at 3:56 pm
Um...yes. People still use 83XX and 81XX. What a stupid comment.
Thig Dec 14, 2010 at 5:43 pm
I still use a Tour and have no problems with it although I will probably switch to an Adroid phone when my contract is out.
Culex316 Dec 14, 2010 at 3:57 pm
dudes, the Tour does not support OS6 lol, and many people who were duped into signing a contract for one and then bait-and-switched when they released the Bold 9650 have Tours...luckily I obtained my Tour off of Ebay, then sold it and signed a contract for the Bold 9650...with OS6, it's a decent phone now.
SpiritsFade Dec 14, 2010 at 6:33 pm
So how is this build? I hated Sprint's last 983 release, so is this better? I'm on 975 right now a hybrid and I love it
rkopsie Dec 14, 2010 at 7:04 pm
I've still got my verizon tour - works amazing still and I wouldn't upgrade to a bold just cause it has os 6 - and as long as they keep pushing os updates then I'm pretty sure my phone is still in the "new crowd" just my opinion :)

I bought a Sprint Tour when it first came out and loved it. In fact, my fiance is still using it to this day and that's why I'm downloading this update for her. But you are foolish if you think the only difference between the 9650 and the Tour is OS6. I now have a 9650 and I promise you this is not just a "Tour 2" as many people thought. The keyboard for starters is different and more improved (similar to 97xx) more ergonomic, the 512mb of memory is awesome, having wi-fi on your device is a huge improvement, and YES OS6 is really cool once you get used to it and use it for a month or so, just to name a few. Nothing wrong with the Tour, just wanted to clarify that there is a big difference between the two devices :)

I still have my Tour from when it was first released from Sprint. Never had ANY problems with it, unlike friends of mine who have had numerous problems with their newer devices. I might be holding on to 51.0 MB of memory for dear life, but my Tour is still quick and has a lot of life yet. I'll upgrade when my phone dies on its own.
olemil Dec 14, 2010 at 11:49 pm
Still have my Tour and it has been a solid phone, no problems what so ever. I also have an EVO and Style with OS6. The OS 6 on the Style is pretty solid and smooth, even after two upgrades to the latest leaks. I was getting ready to download this OS for my Tour but it was going to take an hour so I canceled it. Must be RIM is using a friggin tethered BB to run their server or maybe a 14.4 modem, pretty sad for sure. Guess I will wait until one of the other sites (with actual bandwidth) has it for download.

Let me start by saying that I've had my Sprint Tour 9630 for well over a year and I have a lot of experience dealing with the Blackerry OS. This build, .1030, is a very solid build. .983 was garbage and I think Sprint realized that pretty quick. It slowed my phone down tremendously. I loaded the new OS on my phone yesterday and since then its been really smooth. The browser speed is a bit faster and my phone doesn't lag like it did with .983. I've done about 3 battery pulls since I loaded it just so the phone could adjust to the new OS. I personally think .624 was one of the best OS 5 builds ever for the tour. The only flaw was the browser click issue but other than that it was smooth. Anyway, I give Sprint a pat on the back for coming out with this .1030 build so quickly and addressing the issues from .983. Trust me when I say this build is waaayyy better. Download it today. I did an OTA download and it took about 45 min. I normally do it throught DM on my mac but it didn't show. Anywho, its a good build.
Koneko1 Dec 15, 2010 at 9:39 pm
I'm learning here. You mentioned that you've done 3 battery pulls to allow the phone to adjust to the new OS. Can you elaborate more on that procedure?
I'm simply trying to understand all the ins and outs.
fjones1 Dec 15, 2010 at 10:39 pm
Yea, sure. A battery pull is just a hard reset. While the phone is on just pull the battery out for about 90 seconds then put it back in. This process just allows your memory to be freed of unnecessary crap and it allows your processor to adjust to what you are telling the phone to do. It makes it run quicker with less lag. If you've just loaded the OS on your phone I would suggest doing a battery pull every few hours the getting things rolling. Battery pulls are good to do every now and then so that your phone performs at its best. It really depends your memory and how many apps you have on your device. Some people do a battery pull every week. Others do it less frequently.
Koneko1 Dec 15, 2010 at 11:14 pm
Hey thanks, great information!
MaxiumGrimm Dec 15, 2010 at 12:51 pm
Does this fix the random resets ?
scuebydue Dec 15, 2010 at 4:14 pm
I've never experienced random resets. So I'm not sure. But I've been running this build for about 48 hours..nothing but goods!
MaxiumGrimm Dec 15, 2010 at 5:53 pm
I upgraded to this build but it hung up and caused me to have to take it into the store and they gave me a completely new phone. Now I'm having to buy everything/transfer my stuff (Like MBL Blackbook) to my new phone.
fjones1 Dec 15, 2010 at 10:41 pm
I've only had one random reset since I loaded the OS on my tour. That's normal when your phone is adjusting to a new OS. Other than that I haven't had any. My tour is running smoothly.
MaxiumGrimm Dec 15, 2010 at 11:25 pm
Well one reset for me So far..... I'll give it 4 resets ......after that I'm giving it the one-two kick in the A$$.
airbrnetravel Dec 16, 2010 at 2:19 pm
Have this up for 12hrs and I did manual alt-shift-del x2. But zero random resets
compinche Dec 16, 2010 at 2:39 pm
installing now, wish me luck
airbrnetravel Dec 16, 2010 at 4:21 pm
No luck needed this OS is solid!
mandujar1 Dec 16, 2010 at 11:22 pm
ive been running .1030 for two days now and all is good. the phone is exactly the same as before except ive noticed that battery last longer now and clock while charging function works again. so im happy with this os.
Niz Dec 30, 2010 at 3:13 pm
Seems pretty stable. Wiped device with BBSAK and installed fresh, pulled battery about 5 times and still get slight memory leaks but it should stabilize.
No noticeable difference in performance for me though. OH my speaker phone sounds like TRASH with this OS, so if you listen to a lot of music you might want to try rolling back to a previous version! Then again the speaker on the tour and bold SUCK anyway, compared to other BB's imo.
I have an odd problem, my trackball "click" sound stops working at times. It did this with the previous OS and now this one, it works after battery pulls then eventually stops. Not really a big deal, but strange.
