Official Craigslist App Coming To BlackBerry App World
By
Bla1ze on 11 Nov 2009 12:25 pm
If you are a Craigslist user in search of a better method of accessing the site, the good folks from Movela and Pyxis mobile have just the application for you. Craigslist mobile is a new application set to launch in BlackBerry App World any day now as it's just waiting approval.
Craigslist mobile is a full featured client application which allows users to browse and search all of Craigslist as well as bookmark, and reply to posts and much more. Users need not worry about being limited to where they may be able to search as all countries and even categories are supported by the app. We'll keep ya updated on availability, but pricing is going to be a one time payment of $4.99.
Mathrin Nov 11, 2009 at 12:31 pm
I'm not a fan of having to pay 5 bucks for it, but I'm sure I'll still pick it up.
cwinebrenner Nov 11, 2009 at 12:31 pm
Sucks that it is not a free app.
Mastermind3roc Nov 11, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Yeah, but think of all the ridiculous savings! It's well worth the $4.99.
Mastermind3roc Nov 11, 2009 at 12:31 pm
I can't wait to get my hands on this app...!
DonnyG2 Nov 11, 2009 at 12:38 pm
Free or not, this is heaven sent.

NewOrleans7 Nov 11, 2009 at 12:57 pm
I don't really agree with the pricing but I'll get it anyway seeing as I get really good deals with it. I can't wait!
johnnymac Nov 11, 2009 at 1:02 pm
I'm guessing there's already an iPhone app for this - anyone know how much it is? (I'd guess it's either free or 99 cents. Anyone)
Yes I could look, but I'm also trying make a point by posting this.
hudss Nov 11, 2009 at 1:32 pm
and your point is? you're cheap?
berry26lover Nov 11, 2009 at 1:55 pm

blacktoothberry Nov 11, 2009 at 4:14 pm
I dont know either of you but this is America this is done everywhere ticket agencies jacking up event prices people buying cell phones on buy one get one and selling it on ebay for the retail price. This goes on all the time. If you don't like charge for the themes
HonestySpeaks Nov 11, 2009 at 5:09 pm
Why be a dumba** and post a link to his site which only further promotes what he does and gives him more traffic? Way to 'really' bring attention to the issue LMAO idiot.
hudss Nov 11, 2009 at 5:39 pm
You forgot to mention how I pimp your mother berry26..no one bitches about that and she is not even that good.
berry26lover Nov 12, 2009 at 10:45 am
LOL!!! As usual you are ONLY strong in such words, its you're defence for attack! Sucker!
lobbyintx Nov 11, 2009 at 1:04 pm
The app will be good I'm sure but I can browse CL fine from my tour now. My 8830 didn't cooperate. Don't know how useful the app will be.
Dragondima Nov 11, 2009 at 1:14 pm
NO! I was developing a Craigslist App, what started as a joke, has consumed many hours! I have to say that this does look well constructed. $4.99 is a pretty big price tag, but I'm sure there will be specials that make it less expensive.
FNETHAN Nov 11, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Its super easy to browse CL and reply to the postings address by simply clicking it and emailing them. Its a nice app but 4.99 isnt worth it since my BB surfs craigslist just fine...
devGOD Nov 12, 2009 at 12:30 pm
very true. CL is text based and the bb browser works just fine with no problems.
Jo_795 Nov 11, 2009 at 1:17 pm
lol so we can pick up hookers even easier on CL now?
TallyHo Nov 11, 2009 at 1:41 pm
They should name the app HookerBerry lol
webmastir Nov 11, 2009 at 1:48 pm
will definitely not be buying this. will just browse to it FOR FREE with my web browser.
agough05 Nov 11, 2009 at 1:48 pm
That is worthless, there is no way I am paying $5 to get an app that'll probably leak memory anyway to see a service that is free and easily viewable on my phone in the first place.
ejc1214 Nov 11, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Why pay for an app for a site that can be browsed very easily on the Storm? I do it all the time and I don't need a 5 dollar app for it. I guess they figure there is going to be a few suckers that will go for it!
graymulligan Nov 11, 2009 at 2:07 pm
I understand if the app gave you functionality that you simply didn't have using the browser, but craigslist works just fine in the BB browser, and exceptionally well in Opera. I can't see throwing 5 bucks on an application that is essentially a convenience application. For a buck or two, I could see it, but convenience apps shouldn't cost the same as applications that allow your blackberry to do things that it can't do with the browser.
(hope that mini-rant makes sense)
slarph Nov 11, 2009 at 4:51 pm
and we do have features not available in the browser. see my post below.
StraightWisdom Nov 11, 2009 at 2:11 pm
I'm gonna love this
Res215dg Nov 11, 2009 at 2:21 pm
You spend more than that picking up a #1 from Mc
donalds....Really I'll definately be picking this up- if it makes browsing CL easier and faster- it's worth the money in the long run, especially for heavy CL users. I'm a fan of Movela's previos App for Netflix so if quality wise it's anything close to that I'll be happy
webmastir Nov 11, 2009 at 5:47 pm
it's free for iphone. why the f. should we pay?
pkn068 Nov 11, 2009 at 2:24 pm
No way I'm going to pay for something when I get the original free. People taking advantage of a free service to make a buck isn't all that unexpected in America I guess.
slarph Nov 11, 2009 at 4:42 pm
Network television is free. You pay for cable to make it more usable where you need it most. :)
pkn068 Nov 11, 2009 at 11:13 pm
But I get value from paying for cable. I get more channels that are not available. This app is adding nothing except a middleman. I'm sure you can come up with something better than that poor example! :)
upioneer Nov 11, 2009 at 2:35 pm
couldnt you just shoot over to YOURCITY.craigslist.org on ur bb browser?
MuDvAyNe Nov 11, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Their Netflix app was sub-par. I can only imagine how this one will be.
li2327 Nov 11, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Looks like a very cool app. Can't wait to check it out.
angelm1249 Nov 11, 2009 at 3:35 pm
I absolutely love Craiglist and I've bought plenty of things from there. But I must say $4.99 for a site that u can already access from your phone's browser for free seems a little steep to me...IDK about that one, lol
Upstreammiami Nov 11, 2009 at 3:50 pm
no thanks 5 bucks lol this blackberry app developers are to funny
white water Nov 11, 2009 at 3:59 pm
I would never pay for this, Craigslist works fine for me.
blacktoothberry Nov 11, 2009 at 4:03 pm
your a Fu@king dumb ass for charging 4.99 if I want craigskist I will save it in my favorites and go from there
slarph Nov 11, 2009 at 4:34 pm
"You're a Fu@king dumbass"
add period after 4.99
"If I want craigslist"
close with period.
webmastir Nov 11, 2009 at 5:48 pm
idiots would pay for this. it's free for the iphone
graphic nature Nov 11, 2009 at 4:22 pm
I don't understand why these Blackberry Apps. cost so much! Really $4.99 .... REALLY! I will just use my PC or my iTouch. BB Developers are greedy
slarph Nov 11, 2009 at 4:41 pm
In the next release of craigslist mobile, users will be able to post ads DIRECTLY FROM THEIR MOBILE DEVICE. This is a feature you will find in NO OTHER craigslist app regardless of device platform.
Take a picture from your BlackBerry of say, your car, boat, or Christmas tree farm, add your text, and click submit, and you're selling. without ever touching your PC.
Oh, and also, not to be mundane, but we are a real company, and real companies require revenue in order to operate. We'd love to give the app away for free, but then there would be no one to host the app, maintain the app, or enhance the app.
Thanks to those that ARE planning to download the app. We have great plans for future releases, and because of our agreement with craigslist, we are able to do some pretty cool stuff that others aren't allowed to do.
..Fredo Nov 11, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Nice app. I'll be putting it to use. Don't stress the haters. Keep doing what you do. Be easy.
pkn068 Nov 11, 2009 at 11:32 pm
The next release?!?! You should think about getting it refined and THEN charging 5 bucks. A much better marketing idea would be to offer the lame version you have now for free. Get people used to using it, add the new functionality, and THEN charge for it.
The economy is tight. If you plan on being around as a "real" company you better put your thinking caps on. :)
leveejy Nov 11, 2009 at 4:58 pm
Looks like an awesome application. the craigslist website is TERRIBLE on a mobile device so anything that makes it easier to use craigslist is cool in my book. I have a friend who had a chance to beta test the new version of the Movela Netflix app and the UI in this looks to be in line with that than their original Netflix application, which is a huge plus. I can't wait to try it out!
jakub_w Nov 11, 2009 at 5:34 pm
You could post things for sale from within the app! Otherwise it should be completely free, I'm quite content with the website on my storm.
Also need a Kijiji app!

more efficiently
XD
Luke Dog Nov 11, 2009 at 6:12 pm
Only worth the dough if you could post ads from it and use the photos from your camera.
otherwise.. fail.

for the next version to plunk down $5.
lovelo Nov 11, 2009 at 8:49 pm
What an outrage! As a daily craigslist user I don't see how it is free but they will charge for an app. Ill stick to the fricking web sorry!
lovelo Nov 11, 2009 at 8:54 pm
I can already post from my mobile device if I use the web. So it doesnt make it worth it. I am sorry not trying to be a neg head but it is what it is. I wish your company luck! Great IDEA TOO! Just don't want to pay for something I can already use for free.
KelvinZ Nov 11, 2009 at 9:47 pm
If the current web browser offerings for BB weren't so horrible, this wouldn't even be necessary. As it stands however, I'll be plunking down my $4.99.
chocknyc123 Nov 12, 2009 at 12:54 am
will this be free or pay?
312 Nov 12, 2009 at 1:15 am
Clearly, you didn't bother to read.
B_MaN84 Nov 12, 2009 at 9:35 am
I can have my searches updated daily using viigo. I can also reply to any postings that interest me as well using it. $5 is hardly worth it when the service is offeresd for free elsewhere. Also I agree that the native browser and opera both work fine for viewing posts. All in all, not a $5 value.
KelvinZ Nov 25, 2009 at 12:11 am
What's takin' so long...
philly38#cb Nov 27, 2009 at 12:35 am
I've been checking on this daily since it was announced that it was a "couple days away" and now it's been about 2 weeks since then. Is this gonna be posted to appworld or not?
KelvinZ Dec 17, 2009 at 10:52 pm
I've been checking every day too... nothing. Wassup?
Tha Riddler Jan 26, 2010 at 11:56 am
Is this ever coming out.... I cant even see it mentioned on the movela site...
KelvinZ Feb 7, 2010 at 2:35 pm
I just got it from BlackBerry app world. It looks great and is easy to use. So far, the only problem is that it doesn't seem to allow the user to specify an email account when replying to posts. I have several email accounts set up on my BlackBerry and I don't want to use the default account when replying to a Craigslist post. This is a showstopper for me so I'm going to submit it as feedback.
